German Auto Repair has worked on my car multiple times and my car has run better ever time I come here. I get friendly service and a full explanation of the repairs needed. I always get a fair price. I know this because I do research on the problem and know what I expect to pay when I come in and I pay less each time. I've had engine and transmission mounts, wheel bearings and shock/struts work done plus my personal request of an engine flush and the car runs as smooth as when I bought the car. I have a classic Super Beetle Convertible. Theo and Ramon are the best. They rebuilt my engine for the second time after an idiot in Las Vegas blew my engine. I also had them replace my transmission. Same expertise I had when they rebuilt it 26 years ago! These guys are the best! They learned from German, who passed some years ago. I wouldn't trust my car with anyone else. read more

lol I don't know how they even got 3 stars. Unfortunately had to take my beetle here for an overheated engine that died on me on the 405 freeway. Overheated so badly it ended up melting some of the stuff around it. It was really bad. In short, I needed another engine. Got a used one. I was told by Ramone that I would only have 3 MONTHS warranty. He broke some wiring when installing the replacement engine so the windshield fluid would not work. He needed the *entire* fee UPFRONT! In cash!! No partial deposit. That was the first red-light. The second was when he refused to give me any receipt saying that I gave him the (reluctantly) $1,800 and was told "it's not like I'm going to run off with the money or anything". I was given a receipt AFTER he "fixed" the car. $1,800 later and the car has stalling problems when you push down on the pedal and the speed drops. My car is an automatic and it's frustrating when you try to speed up while on the freeway and the it just stops and drops speed on you. I've taken it back several time since it's been "repaired" and every time I am told that my car is "fine" The engine and oil light are constantly on. The oil light blinks LOUDLY every 10-12 seconds and is incredibly annoying. Can you imagine long drives with that beeping noise going off every few seconds?! Ramon did a good job working on my 08 VW Rabbit for the second time. Whenever i come in to the shop early. He works on my car right away.

EXCRUCIATINGLY RUDE & COMPLETELY CONDESCENDING. I was recommended to this place by a friend who swore by how inexpensive they were and how they specialized in German cars. This sounded great for my needs, considering there were a few things that needed tending to on my 2001 Audi. I dropped it off at 8:30am on a Wednesday, after they had me list out everything that I thought was wrong with my car on a piece of paper. I called at 5:50pm after not hearing all day from them and they were closed. I called the next morning (Thurs) at 11:30am and was told by the owner Luther: "Your car is in tip-top shape. Why did you bring it here?" I then proceeded to explain everything that was on my list and directed them to review the list that I was made to write out when I dropped the car off. Luther is very rude and tells me he'll check again and call me back. A few hours later Luther calls back and he is even more rude and condescending. He calls me "Lady!" and in a condescending way tells me my car is in trouble and I need a new transmission. I ask him "what else is wrong with it"...And he continues to shout about my not needing to worry about what else is wrong because I needed to deal with this. He then told me to come by the shop and he wouldnt explain anything else over the phone. Incredible. I arrive a few hours later and he treats me like women know nothing and should not be driving cars. He starts to speak several times and then waves me off like I am an old nagging lady or persistent fly. Mind you, I am in my early 30s, very polite and articulate, and dressed in business-attire. But he proceeds to treat me like an old nag or a ditsy young girl (and like he's from the old-country where women dont deserve respect). Meanwhile, I have said nothing. I am waiting for him to tell me what's wrong with my car and how much it will cost. I am completely dumb-founded. After a few more rude minutes of this and him calling me "lady" and shoo'ing me away and then walking right back to me, before doing the same thing again, he finally tells me a new transmission will cost $3500 and a used one will cost $2400. (A good price, for sure, but we cant get beyond this...) I try to find out what the other problems are and their corresponding costs so I can determine whether I want to invest in getting my 2001 Audi fixed (only 90k miles and it's all paid off) or if I need to dump it and get a new car. But no one will answer my question for a few minutes. Finally someone says "we did not look at anything else because this was the biggest problem and you need to fix this before you worry about anything else." So I tell them I am going to need to think about it overnight and call them in the morning. As I am walking over to pick up a business card, another guy hands me my keys. I take them and ask "so you want me to take my car now? do you not want my business? is my car even safe to drive right now?" The guys says yes and sends me off. I tell him I dont think Luther, the owner, wants my business and that I am concerned about his rudeness and lack of customer service. He tells me not to worry about Luther and to call him "Ramon" if I want them to give me a new transmission. I left there, mouth agape, completely shocked with how I was treated. Dude (Luther) was like a bad stereotype, a caricature, a cliche of some ornery, out-dated old-country German old man with no manners or respect for women or customer service. If you are a guy, you might have better luck. Women, be forewarned. You will be disrespected. read more

I went here because my windshield wipers had become clogged and they were able to quickly fix that. During a further inspection they informed me that my coolant reservoir had a small leak. They were also able to fix it very quickly. I appreciated the service that was given to me and loved the fact that it was don in such a time-efficient manner. read more

Yersterday I had my 2000 Beetle towed to this shop and as suspected major engine problems. I asked the owner if I could return at 8 am to pick the car ($2500 engine is more than the value of the car) up and he reluctantly agreed. I assumed the battery was dead so I took my portable cables; to no avail. I asked the owner if he had any and he said NO; an auto shop no cables?????? I returned home to get the regulars jumper cables and still the ignition would not turn over. This guy was no help at all , didn't show any concern and was very dull, rude (can't quite find the adjective to describe his demeanor) not to mention he had worked on my daughters Beetle before, I hate to chalk it up to the fact that I didn't speak SPANISH, because he spoke good English (if you get where I'm going with this) AAA was very busy today and gave me a 3 hour window, finally after several calls a driver showed up; talk dark and handsome and he read the situation instantly. I got my car home but........I don't have to kiss your ass to take my money EVER and we don't have to do business with you! read more

German Auto repair has worked on my son's BMW for the last two years and it now runs like new. He has repaired the radiator, valves, electrical and everything he touches turns to gold. And he doesn't charge you a arm and a leg just because it''s a German car! I will never go anywhere else! read more

These are my guys. Not your traditional auto repair shop to say the least. The owner is a bit quirky...you got to just accept it and let him get to know you. Bottom line, these guys can fix Volkswagens great and cheap. And there is an Enterprise next door to rent a car when you drop it off. read more

Luther is a great mechanic: You just have to know how to deal with that German man! I have been taking my car to Luther over 25 years and I have never had any problems. First I took my Volkswagen then he worked on my Toyota. When Luther quotes you a price make sure you or him writes it down! If you have any problems after he fixes your car Luther will correct the problem. He may fuss but, you just have to over look his personality! Gina Johnson read more
