Great food for the whole family, better than my mother's cooking and great service. The they also have chicken strips for the tiny tots.

Food: (5/5) I always drive 164th so I've been eyeing this spot for a long time. My partner and I decided to finally stop by last week and our minds were blown!! We got the fried catfish, collard greens, black eyed peas, corn bread, and sweet potato pie. Everything was AMAZING. The catfish was crunchy on the outside and perfectly succulent on the inside. The black eyed peas and collard greens were both delicious savory additions to the meal with great texture. The cornbread had additions of cheese and peppers, and was a yummy mix of sweet and salty. The sweet potato pie, which we learned Andre's wife makes, was beyond addicting. If we hadn't had a snack before coming, we would've cleared everything immediately. We plan to try everything on the menu, especially the fried okra! Service: (5/5) This was probably the most memorable food experience I have ever had. Andre, the owner, is extremely passionate about his work and it shows in everything that he does. We ended up chatting for quite awhile and our conversation reminded me of everything that's important in my personal life, in the best way. Please come by! You won't regret it for a second.

Food: Very good food. I ordered the brisket plate with creamed corn (brisket 9/10. Good flavor, good ring on it and flavorful + it wiggles which a good brisket slice should. Corn was pretty sweet but good). My only issue as a Southern spot it please include a slice of bread (white or texas toast + pickles with the meat plates.) the bbq is a homemade bbq sauce thats sooo darn good! Id buy a bottle or two! My wife ordered a brisket sandwich with fries and coleslaw. The brisket sandwhich was of course good with a buttery bun. The coleslaw (was lacking good flavor; not a fan personally). The fries were frozen fries and descent. We also had hush puppies; pretty good. Service: AMAZING service from Mia. Such a sweetheart and gem. She helped us make good picks from the menu. Ambiance: a very large building! When we went it was empty and during early day. Very clean, clean bathrooms and music playing. The look/feel gives more "country" vs southern. I was expecting to hear southern soul vibes on the music, and photos or items throughout that gave "southern bbq vibes". A dope touch would be dope photos of black or southern cowboys, and etc. lots of opportunity for a real down south vibe to be created. Overall- very pleased. I hope they have another 50+ years of business while stay true to their southern roots. Love love lovee

We also ordered the peach cobbler and didn't find out until after picking it up that it was sold out but was still charged for it. I also requested utensils and there weren't any included in either bag. The food was good, the pulled pork had good flavor especially with the pickles and onions and bbq sauce. The beans were sweet, the mac n cheese needed a little salt, the potato casserole was good, the hush puppies were dry and the quesadilla was good when dropped in the bbq sauce.

The young lady working there was very friendly, polite and had a smile. Sat outside it was nice. It's dog friendly which I like. Visiting family on the island thought I would try the Thirsty Crab Brewery. I will be recommending this place. Definitely will be going back before I head home. Every time I visit family here on Whidbey Island I will be going there for beer. I was able to visit before heading home. I would recommend Thirsty Crab Brewery to anyone that likes beer.

Well I will say right off the bat if you are trying to get here by GPS it is extremely misleading…read more You can see the business from the main road but you can't turn into the parking lot there. You need to go straight through an intersection just before the brewery, turn on a dirt road and then it will take you to the parking lot. Hopefully directions have been fixed since then by somebody but if not be patient in getting there. My phones were exhausted and running on empty so alas no pictures were taken here unfortunately. We still needed some GPS navigation to get in a homebound direction. There were a lot of good looking beer options here so what we did was get a taster flight which was a wise choice. Some of the beers we had that made up that was a Key Lime Lager which was great. It tasted similar to the dessert and was easily my favorite. Alpenglow was another, also a lager that was pleasant and refreshing. We continued with the unique brews of a Nettle beer, a mango lager and the May Bee Lager. We also got an order of some of their brats from the food truck here. Those weren't too bad, perhaps not the most authentic I have ever came across but enjoyable nonetheless and pairs well with the beers that they have available here. Fun brewery to go to and one that should be stopped at if you are visiting the breweries, cideries, meaderies or wineries on Whidby Island.

Take the humble grain bowl using Ukrainian buckwheat "Kasha" with fermented vegetables. With the expert "curing" of the vegetables evident by taste, and glazed with a lovely nutty sauce, it is both simple, and yet profound. Similarly a recent soup of tomatillo and zuchini, cut by black beans, corn, and tortilla strips both tasted familiarly Mexican, but also stretched the palate and feel healthy like all traditional foods. Menu standards like the fermented "kimchi waffle fries", are fun to eat, but each week she introduces exciting and ecclectic plates - once "rabbit" was on the menu. This is exceptional food, but not in the rarefied, experimental way of expensive haute cuisines, rather they draw on deep cultural food traditions. The range of flavors is much more sophisticated and pleasing to my palate than anything else I have tasted across Kitsap county. The sauer kraut chocolate cake? wow. The fermented hot sauces? Delicious. The gyro plate with smoked beet baba-ganoush, and the adjika (Georgian savory herb) sauerkraut layered with tzatziki is a virtual Berlin nightclub party in the mouth. You can pair the food with exquisite house fermented kvass or kombuchas. I highly recommend the "linden blossom" one which is a traditional Ukrainian taste. The chef's sure hand embraces cooking techniques and spice combinations from not only the well-known Asian, Indian, Mexican and Mediterranean spectrum, but also extends to the more unusual such as The Republic of Georgia --one of the world's oldest wine producers and known for its incredible cuisine and food culture at the cross roads of central Asia and eastern Europe. My only sadness is their limited opening hours from Wednesday to Saturday and only until 7:00 pm. This food truck is worth traveling the ferry to Kingston from the east Puget Sound.

We had seen it for a long time and been meaning to try, but being workers with a long commute, the early closing time + limited schedule just didn't work for us. When we did get to go, the $20 salads just did not satisfy. Dinner for two rang at about $65 and all and it's just really too high a price for what you get, especially from a food truck. This place is very heavy on the legumes of all kinds, and on pickled and fermented goods. It's really their "thing". This ranges from the more typical (pickled veggies, kombucha, kimchi) to the really odd (sauerkraut chocolate cake, and such). There were Eastern European dishes, which was cool. Others were Mediterranean. So, a bit all over the place. If you are not a fan of pickled and fermented things, I'd suggest that you pass, because there's nothing on the menu for you!
