Went shopping for a new washer/dryer. Paid for 60 minutes in parking meter curbside. Turns out it took 13 minutes to decide on, and purchase the appliances. Salesman Ed was able to access availability and set up a delivery date so efficiently, I was thrilled and awed. COVID precautions were exceptional. Delivery was remarkable. Window was 8 to noon, drivers advised of arrival 30 minutes before, removal of old appliances and installation of new took less than an hour. Think twice about this company. Quality has gone down hill... Bought a Weber Gas Grill and a Bosch dishwasher. Decided to spend the money for quality products AND quality service. This is my second time buying from them and the last. First time didnt go well either but we got what we needed after a few visits. Grill - they took the old grill away with the light on handle and 3 grill brushes underneath. Before they left, we had to also ask them to hook up and test.The sales guy said they would do that and make sure everything was good. Figured that would have been standard operations - make sure grill accessories are removed? No. emailed the sales guy and he didnt respond for over a week and then made up a story why. Dishwasher - after explaining in detail our issues with our Samsung unit, the sales guy sold us on the idea that you dont even rinse dishes. "toss them in fully loaded and the sensors determine velocity/strength of cleaning blah blah". "You must use this special dish detergent capsules that Bosch uses in the engineering labs and builds/designs for maximum cleaning power" so said sales guy. We went out and bought a $20 box of this to use with new dishwasher. Installer came in and said absolutely rinse all the dishes and do not use that type of detergent. Use the granular and 1.5 tablespoon. The exact opposite! Nice. Since the installers are not employees so there is a big disconnect. Finally to make it even more comical, the sales guy told me i should call Bosch and get from the horses mouth. I didnt buy from Bosch, I bought from you. we went to your shop and spent more on these appliances because we thought we were getting expertise and honest guidance. I then entered a contact me form on the website. Someone got back to me and then pushed me off to a customer support manager who defended sales guy, tossed installer under the bus, then told me to read the manual. So bottom line, this was really bad. I still have a $800+ wine cooler and a top/bottom over to replace a 17 yr old unit. My advice is to shop there to see the unit, buy online, and find a local installer / service guy on manufacturer website. read more

I ordered a Bosch Dishwasher in January, but needed it in black which Gerhard's does not stock. It took 2-3 weeks to come in, which was fine, I knew that when I ordered it. Gerhard's was going to deliver and install the dishwasher when it arrived, which they weren't able to schedule until they received the actual unit - okay I understand. Finally March 3 we had a delivery and install date. The men that arrived to deliver and install were polite and arrived on time. They installed dishwasher and said to let it run for a short cycle before using it. About 30 minutes after they left, while running the short cycle, I got an error code. I called immediately and the installer couldn't come back so we had to schedule a service call. Next service call wasn't until 3/8. On 3/8 a service guy came out and said when they installed the dishwasher they pushed back to hard and broke the drain pipe plus the underneath and behind dishwasher (floor, wall, cabinets) were soaking wet. We had to get out fans to dry everything out. Now they had to order a part and couldn't schedule reinstall until the part came. No service appoints now until 3/18! I have called the store to ask for a warranty extension and a refund on installation because of all these problems. I kid you not when I say I have called over 12 times and everytime I call there is no manager that can help me, I always get "I'll send an e-mail, or leave a message and someone will call me back." I have not received one call back, not one! Nothing from Gerhard's - not even an apology. I ordered from here, instead of Best Buy - the price was the same - but I thought I would get better customer service, boy was I wrong! If you are looking for customer service look at another company! Today I give up with trying to reach them. By nature, I'm not a complainer but this is the worst consumer experience I've ever had. And Gerhard's doesn't seem to care. We ordered a washer, dryer and refrigerator for our new home in late July, 2020. $4,100! OK, COVID has delayed supplies, I get that but the communication is nonexistent. No update on the fridge and we're in late August, it took me to drive to the store to get someone to check. The washer and dyer was finally delivered but the washer is broken. After two failed attempts to fix it, they tell me they will not take it back. That they need to "re-build" it until it works. The repair tech Gerhard's sent recommended that we have it exchanged as he was puzzled with why it's broken. Gerhard's refuses to exchange it saying the manufacturer won't let them return it. I said that's now their problem. Please go to Best Buy of Home Depot. read more

I'm looking to enhance this review shortly. Right now, I'm hopping for completion of an order that has been way too complicated, but realize social distancing shopping and purchasing has been made difficult. First expecting two appliances to arrive, only one shows, and it's not the one I NEED. On to two days later, the important one arrives, but is damaged. Return it to the warehouse. I've been told they may not have my model available. Do I want another model? NO. Told I could go elsewhere for my purchase. Really? By the way, both days the delivery people were outstanding. Sales person not as supportive, in my opinion, in making this right. There's an opportunity for this person to make it right. Let's hope they make their side of our contract work. It is their responsibility to come up with an innovative solution to this problem. Looking forward to placing a "great" review if all ends well. read more

Beware! Apparently the sales staff will tell you anything to get the sale. When I tried to call about whereabouts of my washer I was informed very rudely that the truck arrives anytime between 9 and 5 and they would call me. They never called. When I asked them to cancel the sale I was informed that the cancellation would take between 24 and 72 hours to show on my credit card. I finally had the sale cancelled after a second call. Those of you who think Gerhard's appliances are great should have had my experience! Paying $+++ for a refrigerator that spewed ice all over the floor in my kitchen CONSISTENTLY!! Went to them to take it back ( only bought it 1 y/ago) they wouldn't even give me the time of day! Sally was who sold it to us! Coming into the kitchen on a daily basis was " you're on your own". Never knew when you might trip on an ice cube that dropped out of the ice maker on it's own. Or, you might wish to trip on the water it dissolved into. It was 4 mos old when I told them of this problem. They did NOTHING!!! I continued to contact/disturb them with my "issues" of ice on the floor & we're seniors. No comment! After me BADGERING them MANY times they sent over a repairman who said the part was back ordered....IMAGINE THAT! Finally 3 mos + later they sent over a repairman to "fix". The part was back ordered...imagine that??? When we FINALLY got the part it was installed ( 3 + mos later) and it STILL continued to drop random ice cubes. I agree, this is a fault of Whirlpool. Problem is, I put all my eggs in the Gerhardt's basket & they wouldn't help?? Purchased MANY other appliances for our new home now, from elsewhere. Would NEVER SET FOOT IN GERHARD'S AGAIN! They don't take care of their customers, or Sally & her Cronies NEVER DID. We now have 3 refrigerators. The one that came with the house in the basement. Our new one that we bought from another dealer (AGAIN NEVER GERHARD) & this one in our garage. Imagine a 1 y/o fridge in the garage. We have wasted 3 days when delivery was scheduled with Gehard's and confirmation texts were sent 24 hours prior to have "no shows". Worst experience I have had with a merchant in a very long time. I bought a high-end refrigerator and their delivery personnel badly damaged an exterior door that now needs to be replaced. The delivery personnel contacted their supervisor- Anthony- who had them tell my wife that Gerhards would take care of it. This was more than a week ago and they are ignoring our calls and emails. In this covid era, getting stuff fast isn't easy and quite rare. I wasn't optimistic when I arrived and Dante asked how he could help. I shared I need a washer and dryer, front opening, 27 " width, delivered within a week. He said there were two options and then proceeded to show me the availability, discuss pros and cons as well as consumer reports rankings. We made our choice and we're surprised when he asked what color? He checked inventory and the metallic grey was available and would be delivered in 4 days. Still cautious, I waited to get a call that covid issues were effecting deliveries, however the day before delivery I received a call and text confirming my delivery window for the next day. Everything showed up as promised, the delivery guys were courteous, professional, careful and did not ding my freshly painted wall is the narrow corridor they had to carry the appliances down. Not one complaint and shocked how easy the whole process was. (Btw - I went to Gerhards because my tile guy said he had a very similar experience- he was right!). They delivered the second new dryer LG dryer today and it doesn't work. Suppose to have a tech call us and come out right away to repair. Wished we would have purchased elsewhere and will not be back to do business at Gerhard's again. Read the negative reviews. In an effort to keep a large purchase (complete kitchen appliance purchase) local I bought from Gerhards in December 2018. I knew what I wanted, received a good sale price and within a week, delivery and installation was complete. I was pleased. They assisted with online product rebate applications and all went well. A few months later, the microwave digital panel display kept going off which required me to shut off/turn on from the main electrical board. I called for service. Gerhards owns their own service company Fast Appliance Repair. First appointment - tech shows, did not have the parts on had to repair so he ordered the part (complete new door and board). I was not informed ahead of time that he would not be making the repair during this first visit. A month later, I call and ask where the part is. "it was delivered to your home"...no, it was not. After multiple calls I learned it was ordered, canceled, reordered, shipped to Fast Appliance. Second service scheduled - for last Thursday. It rained that day - I paid a house sitter to wait for them only to get a call around 6:30 pm - tech had a "family emergency" and I had to reschedule. They made no effort to get the part from that tech and into the hands of another. Guess the rain scared them away from doing the job? Yesterday, I take off work, 4 hours to wait. Tech shows at my front door empty handed..."where's the part?" he replies, "what part?" I said. LEAVE. He goes back to his truck while I'm on the phone with Fast Appliance ...not happy at all. They locate the part, tech leaves, returns an hour later with a large box. He put's the dirty large box on my quartz kitchen counter, makes the repair and gets ready to walk out the door, leaving the dirty box, wrappings, on the counter and broken door or my kitchen floor. I ask him "you going to take this stuff?" He looks at me like I just landed from Jupiter. "Oh, ok". NO sh-t dude, take the stuff. In all my years of owning homes, dealing with vendors, repairs, service techs, this was absolutely the most inept company and sloppy Joe who ever crossed my front door. I've decided to purchase an additional 5 year warranty on all the appliances but not through Gerhards - I'll buy directly from Whirlpool and will deal with their repair contractors directly going forward. Life if too busy, purchases are too expensive and time is too valuable to be spent dealing with poor vendors. read more

Purchasing a washer and dryer was quite easy. Arrived at store when we were the only customer. Sales rep asked what were our preferences, immediately showed us his recommended manufacturer, we signed the contract, and the appliances were delivered the Monday following our Saturday visit. Delivery was made at the promised time, delivery men were careful going through the doors, cleaned up the floor, tested the washer and dryer to make sure everything was working properly, and were on their way with minimum disruption to our day. There were at least 5 people sitting at the front desk and they could not decided who was going to greet me let alone assist me. Should have turned around and left but didn't. Wow what an absolute disappointment this company was. We love family owned businesses and would much rather buy from them versus a big box store. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Gerhard's as we have given them so many chances to make our situation right, only to be vastly disappointed. They had missed 2 delivery windows on two separate days for our Refrigerator and never called us once to ask if they could reschedule or explain what happened. After we got them on the phone, they said something about a fire, and then made the excuse that the delivery man did not know about our refrigerator . Given that we had placed the order over a month in advance, I have no idea how that happened... TWICE. Anyway, they promised they would refund the $40 delivery fee and provide free water filters (big deal, right!). THREE weeks later this has not happened. We have received zero communication from them, not an apology call, no refund and no filters. We called them earlier this week, and were told that someone would call me on Thursday 11/10. No one called. Horrible customer service and still VERY much unresolved issues. read more

I purchased nearly $40k in highend Wolf Appliances from the Malvern store. When they came to install them, they failed to take all the wrappers out of the appliances and we would smell the plastic burning when we tested the stove. Then they said, "Sorry, that is not our Wolf installation team." We had to wait another two weeks for them to get a certified Wolf installer to come out. Dont believe them when they say they have people to install high end appliance because they do NOT! Next, the dishwasher they installed would tip everytime you opened the door. We called and complained and they sent a kid out to stabalize. He used the wrong size screw and it went through my cabinets and the Dishwasher still tipped. Then the sent another kid, who used a smaller screw, but realize that the unit was not spinning the washer properly. Then I spoke to Christina the manager and begged for a new unit, and she said "no." she then had me facetime and she saw that ALL and I mean ALL the racks that were inside were the wrong racks for unit I purchased. She then said she would send new racks. The racks came twice and each time they were missing parts. Here I am now 5 months into this mess, and today we have the 6th service person her and the racks are still wrong. I'm done! I want a new dishwasher or my money back. I tried to get to Christinas boss Matt Ashley, but nobody at Gerhard will give me his email or a way to get in contact with him. My next stop is NBC, ABC news as this sh*t sucks! Word to the wise go to Keifer for high end appliances and installation. My builder warned me about this and I did not listen to him. read more

Day 28 - still trying to get my ice maker fixed. I have had 3 technicians to my home, the freezer flooded and warped my hardwood floors and Gerhard's doesn't seem to care. I have tried to call customer service, left messages and no return calls. Per their suggestion, I bought the extended warranty through newleaf and they're more invisible than Casper the ghost. I have been promised multiple return calls from Gerhard's and newleaf and I'm still waiting from both. They sure spent a lot of money on the upgrade of their malvern store, they would've been better off investing that in customer service. After shopping big box stores, I chose Gerhard's because the SALES side gave me the family experience but the service side is giving me an experience unlike anything I could've imagined. Zero. At this point I would've been treated better at Walmart. My only advice to others: avoid at all costs. The sales team has got us all tricked. Aweful doesn't even come close. Have had them out to repair major appliance more times than I can count. Finally after years of it not being fixed - get a new one (which we had to pay some of the delivery on) - only to have my kitchen floor and front porch gouged by their delivery people (who had to come out twice). They didn't even level it and when we called, Gerhard's said "well its probably your floor". NEVER EVER EVER again. Run the other direction. As a family owned business, the company does not stand behind their name. They will take your money and are happy to sell you a service plan but if you have any problems, forget it. The delivery guys are in a big rush and you must sign a form stating the appliance is satisfactory but they do not set up the refrigerator and oven or level it. I could go on and on because I bought 3 kitchen appliances. Plus, their service plan is a joke, you wait and wait on the phone and the problem is still not fixed with my refrigerator. Customer service at it's worst. I'm on the west coast and I've only bought one particular product from them because we needed this one ADA compliant appliance that they happen to carry. One of them broke down after a couple years so I went back online, typed in the model number of the unit and followed the link to their website and voila! There it is. Add to cart, pay, wait. A week past the promised delivery date they show up at my business and they guy acts like his truck is going to get towed outside if he doesn't hurry up and leave. I told him I had to check to make sure it was ok and he assures me it was and if there was anything wrong with the item, they will pick up and return it. I open it after he leaves and it's the wrong thing. I call the company and I get transferred around and I finally get to someone that handles this issue. They hear me out and then insist that I ordered the wrong item. We're talking about 2 entirely different type of appliances but made by the same manufacturer. They transfer me to a customer service supervisor who also insists I ordered the wrong thing. I explain again that I'm not clicking around their site browsing for stuff. Not only is this guy the customer service supervisor but he also claims to be their web designer and he supposedly checked my visit to their site for the order and said I was on the page for the other item. After arguing with these idiots for 30 minutes, they couldn't care less. They have our money and they're not going to do a thing about it other than accept a return if I pay for shipping to and from them again. $200 each way which is almost what the unit cost us. They are one of those businesses that have no sense of customer service. Without a doubt, I will never do business with them again. read more

Bought a refrigerator and dishwasher from them. To start, I was told one of the dishwashers in the ad wasn't available by one person. Then, it was available according to another. Then the microwave I ordered wasn't available, so that was cancelled. Then the fridge I bought is basically a professional noise maker. Had people out 5 times total. One was Paul's appliance (who also did a lousy job) that they passed the buck to. Long story short, the fridge still makes noise and "nothing can be done. that's normal." I was told I signed an agreement saying so. Don't bother calling the service center phone number, either. They're all unhelpful and rude. Do yourself a favor and go to Best Buy or something, these guys are an absolute joke. Even during a sale if you were to save some money, it's still nowhere near worth it. Horrible. I have purchase multiple appliances over the last 15 years at Gehard's. I like to support local businesses even if they aren't the best price wise. My latest purchase was extremely disappointing from a service perspective. I was guaranteed my new oven would be delivered and installed prior to Thanksgiving. I purchased a duel-fuel oven converted for propane, so they were well aware of what needed to be installed. The installers arrived very late past the 4 hour window and were unable to install the oven because they didn't know how to do a propane install. I finally get my oven installed after Thanksgiving. read more

Horrible service..of my own and for customers complaining on the phone while I sat as was ignored to take care of other issues. The previous reviews sum up the poor experience with this company. If you are looking for a small business experience that will provide customer service, don't bother. You will get the same poor customer service here as a big box store. You need only be in there for a few minutes at the desk area to experience the fast talking sales pitches and the juxtoposing poor customer service and complaints about delivery issues, warehouse transport issues, frustrated customers getting pacified on phone conversations, delays etc. I was told to pick up an appliance promised for a certain time. I got no call about it NOT being delivered to the store. But when I arrived they knew that mine was one of three appliances not transported according to their schedule. I proceeded to sit and wait for Mark to find out the status, had to inform my contractor that he could not finish the job, and was told it would be in later that day and assumed that I could come back again (presuming I had nothing better to do with my time). I couldn't. The following day I went in to get the item and in the disorganization and hurried fast wielding attitude of the salespeople, there was no paperwork. While I waited, I listened to a female employee appease a customer about his frustration, tell him that information given to him was incorrect and robotically rattle off all the necessary apologies for delays and frustrations. Funny. Each time (3) I was in there, the same scenario of frustrated customers on the phone, me (or customers) waiting in frustration at the desk and the lack of TRUE, results oriented, customer service seems to be a chronic problem for this company. read more

Sales associate was helpful and knowledgeable. We weren't quite finished but I agreed to let him move on to other customers who were waiting for him. The dryer arrived right on time. My adult son who lives nearby handled receipt of the delivery and was impressed by how they managed delivery in tight space having to go across sloped yard and around a fence to get in. So far, so good. Then I get home and find the dryer door opens on wrong side. (Important--tight space). I took a quick look and didn't see how to change it so I went to store to look at floor model. I was then told that all dryers came with the doors like that and she pointed out how to change it. She also mentioned that they changed them for a fee--presumably at delivery. I would have paid for this--had I known. I went home and we did as instructed--only the screws wouldn't go in. I called service and asked if there was a trick. I was told the installers partially screwed in the screws and then tapped them in. Because the area is too tight to get a direct hit ( unless maybe you do this all day) we used a shim to extend the strike zone to effectively use the mallet. It wasn't a little tap that was needed. It was several strong taps for four screws. Yay! Success! Unless, of course, I expected to have a light in the dryer, which had now broken with the malett strikes. I called the store and asked for the manager. She (probably not manager) called me back and offered me several options (buy a bulb elsewhere and send in the receipt, wait for them to order one and come in, etc). We settled on they would give me the bulb out of the display and I raced back to the store to get it as they would be closing in 45 minutes. I did and was given the bulb and went home and installed it and would be (two days) happy with the dryer except that I went to bed with a load in the dryer and this morning woke up to a dry load and an open door. Aaarrrggghh! Recap: I last bought a dryer 18 years ago and I didn't think about the door side opening--although it is important to me to be able to move clothes easily from washer to dryer. When I got home from work the problem was immediately visible and the set up was clear on the dryer they took away. Gerhards sells lots of dryers and had the salesman or the delivery man spoken up about this, they would be getting a five star review and the certainty of the sale of seven appliances in my son's upcoming whole house renovation. I would have given a three star review for average because I needed two unnecessary extra trips to the store and now I am rating them a two because now I will have to do something else to ensure the door stays engaged during the entire performance. Tip: the person using the dryer (or any appliance) should be the one home receiving delivery. read more

He was incredibly knowledgeable and he painted a full picture when answering all of our questions. He ended up giving us the ability to buy a less expensive system than what we initially thought we needed. I basically bought every appliance known to make a home function! Sally was super helpful and helped me in my indecisiveness. She did price comparisons on different brands for me, and found several rebates for me depending on sales that were going on at the time. I could not say enough good things about Sally! The sales people almost ignored me when I walked in the Ardmore store, but then did agree to send a contractor ($40) to see if the new Thermador stovetop and down-draft vent I wanted to purchase would fit in the same space as my current one. Contractor never showed at appointed time. Repeated calls to Gerhard to reschedule were unanswered and messages not returned. I feel lucky to have escaped! read more

Service Department Review The service department was booked one week out for a repair for our broken dryer, which was purchased from Gerhard's and was under warranty. Ashley was able to move the appointment up 2 business days, which was very helpful. A serviceman came out to assess and was unable to repair or patch the dryer; then he scheduled us for one week out for repair. When I called the next business day, I requested if there was any way to move the appointment up, as that next Saturday was an inconvenient day. Ashley was very helpful. She made sure that the part was ordered and scheduled us for a morning appointment 2 business days earlier than expected. It was a relief to have the dryer fixed sooner than later. We have purchased appliances from Gerhard's in the past and have recommended them to others. read more

Gerhard's is not deserving of 1 star! We needed to upgrade our kitchen appliances after living with builder grade appliances for 15 years. I love to cook and bake and knew I wanted top of the line appliances. I also knew I wanted to shop at a local store that could educate my husband and I on our options for replacing our stove top, double oven and microwave and a store that would have great customer service. These were the reasons we went to Gerhards Appliance, which ended up being a huge mistake. We went there knowing we had to work with the space we have, and had no plans to remodel our kitchen or replace our very expensive backsplash. We measured all existing appliances knowing these were the only dimensions we had to work with. We were told by the sales rep that the 30-inch stove top we decided on would need a down draft installed behind the stove top. I immediately explained that we have a backsplash behind the existing stove top that has chair rails tiles that stick out, and that we had no intentions of replacing our backsplash tile. She said she would send an installer to to measure to make sure it would fit. An installer did come out to measure and said it would all fit. We place our order on November 2nd, 2016. When the same installer came to install the stove top and the downdraft vent he informed us that he had no choice but to cut into the tile behind the stove top to allow the downdraft to move up and down. This is after he had measured it prior to placing the order and said it would fit. He also said the backsplash would be repairable. Because he said it was our only choice we agreed to it. Now we are left with a backsplash that cannot be repaired because it will never look right! We had no intentions of replacing our backsplash, an additional expense due to purchasing from Gerhard's. I have phoned Gerhard's numerous times and have left messages for Richard Gerhard to please phone me back to discuss my options. Richard one of the owners does not even have the professionalism to call me back after I have left 5 messages. I spent over $12,000 replacing my 3 appliances and have received absolutely no customer support! How a company like Gerhard's can stay in business for over 70 years while treating customer like dirt is beyond comprehension. The downdraft that was installed has never worked, they have told me they have ordered replacement parts and when I phone there they have told me they are in. Yet I have never received a phone call to schedule the repair. I did phone again today (April 26th, 2017) over 6 months after my order was placed and was told once again my repair would be scheduled and that Richard would phone me back. As of right now I have not heard back from them. My only change of resolving this is to take them court, once again adding to my cost of replacing 3 kitchen appliances. The only thing good about Gerhard's is there high end appliances. The customer service is the worse I have ever experienced! When you take a complaint all the way to the owner and he does not have the dignity to phone a customer back after leaving 5 messages he is clearly not in business for the paying customer. Customer Service rating: Terrible!!! I would give zero stars if possible... We ordered a stove unit from Gerhards and the rep came out from Gerhards to measure the unit in a preexisting granite counter top. When the unit arrived.... The installer told us that it was too small, it would fall through the existing cutout in the the granite. He said the answer was simple- just buy a new granite counter top- for 6000$, with a smirk. Upon speaking to the company owner, Gerry Gerhard, he said our complaints should go to Jennair, the manufacturer. No... it was not their fault!!! Finally, Mr. Gerhard came up with a master repairman - who charged us 300 $- an amount that we did not feel obliged to pay. read more
