I took my car here a year ago to get repaired from an accident where I was rear ended. There was some extensive damage to the trunk and bummer, but luckily it was all cosmetic. The work they did was good, but it took a REALLY long time to complete the job, and they didn't do a couple things like add my racing stripes to the new trunk and replace a piece of moulding that came off during the accident. I called every month for almost a year before I just decided to stop by the shop to get a quote on another repair that I needed due to a hit and run accident. I wasn't planning on getting the work done here because of my prior experience. I noticed a difference IMMEDIATELY. I walked in and was greeted by Beatrice. She informed me that the shop had all new staff and that she was personally leading this turn around. I'm that brief interaction, so made me decide to give Gerber another shot and boy am I happy I did so. Not only did Beatrice go above and beyond to get the work completed within a week, but she also fixed the remaining issues from the first accident! She even asked one of her associates to drive me to the rental car company to pick up a rental car. She also talked to the rental car company and had them agree to pick up the car from Gerber. If that's not a great service mindset, then I don't know what is! I can't thank Gerber and Beatrice enough for all of the outstanding service and quality of work they did for me. My husband had an accident on 12/21/22 with his 1999 Toyota 4Runner. Our insurance company recommended Gerber Collision in Simi Valley. They were unable to give us an estimate until 12/27/22 and it turns out they never looked under the hood so we had to return for an added estimate. Much jockeying went back and forth between Safeco and Gerber. It's totaled, it's not totaled. This went on for at least 2 weeks and finally after all of that Gerber said they don't work on cars older than 2004. They obviously knew the car was a 1999 because they had to know what parts to include in the estimate. They could have saved us a great deal of time and aggravation if they'd been honest from the first day and told us they don't work on cars older than 2004. They might do great work but we'll never know since they wouldn't work on our car. We took it to Newcastle Motor and they did a fantastic job repairing it in 2 1/2 weeks. read more

I went to Gerber collision autobody for my estimate needed for a rear-end collision on hwy. 118. I was told the estimator was not in that I need to contact my insurance company to set up an appointment to receive an estimate for damages... I told the service advisor at Gerber that I needed two more estimates as every body shop has different prices... I was told to leave as Gerber autobody won't help me. I will never recommend this autobody shop. read more

Had somebody hit my car on the 405 and it needed repair, so I brought it over to Star Auto Body. In my previous review, I stated the work was fine but was not satisfied with the communication. This time, everything went five-star for sure! I brought my car over and dropped it off and they did a quick inspection and told me they would call me later in the day to let me know if there was any further damage. Later that afternoon I received a call as promised and was told that my vehicle should be ready by the following Monday. This time around the communication was seamless and spot on. I received a few 'update' calls through the week to keep me informed and I really appreciated that. In the end, they med their predetermined time of completion and the vehicle looks perfect. I was rear ended 11/2020 and my 2019 Tacoma was towed to Star the same day because that was who my insurance suggested. The truck was there approximately 6 weeks, which was way better than the up to 3 months I was told initially. So when I got the call my truck was ready I was thrilled. Picked up and driving home noticed a little piece was missing on the center console, I called and they asked me to come back, I did. They saw what was missing and said they would need to order it and would call me when it came in. Getting back into my truck it hit me, they had not put my running boards back on! I walked back inside and asked them where they were. They checked their pictures of my truck and saw it came in with running boards and said they would have to track them down! I left and got a call a few days later they had the part and they had found my running boards. Couple weeks later my boyfriend asked me what happened to the wheel well guards, I had no clue what he was talking about so I went back to Star and once again they checked their pictures and saw my truck came in with them and they had no idea where they were. I also questioned them on why my tail gate was not closing all the way and I had noticed the paint on the bed was already chipping. I was asked to give them a couple weeks because the lady helping me was going on vacation, but promised when she got back she would get everything taken care of. Well after of not hearing anything for a month I went back and she said she had forgotten and would get right on it. Well here it is the end of July and not a word from them! Still no wheel well covers or answers to why the paint is chipping and the only reason my tail gate is now right is because my boyfriend took it off and adjusted it the way it should have been done in the first place! Decent first impression turns into a nightmare... Took our car to Star Auto Body for front end damage at the beginning of the year. It took way too long to get the car back (3 months!), but we were initially happy with the quality of work. They did put the wipers on incorrectly so they scratched the A pillar, but otherwise the car looked great. We had to take it back a few days later due to the fact that they incorrectly installed some wiring and our key fobs would only work intermittently. After a few weeks (Subaru dealership had to fix the problem) we go to pick the car up (it's at Star Auto Body now), but notice it is covered with flecks of white paint (our car is black). There is also white residue everywhere inside the car (appeared to be debris from sanding). Jennifer tries to put the blame on the Subaru dealership and tells me that "they must have been doing some construction near your car". As she is telling me this, their paint guy is spraying white paint on a jeep not 30 feet away! I ask her about this and she claims they only spray indoors. We also notice several new dents and scratches, a broken door panel, and the window tint is gouged. Star Auto Body says they will take care of this, but when we go to pick up the car a few days later, NONE of the white paint overspray has been cleaned off, nor has the broken door panel been fixed. They just tried to jam the panel into the door tighter so we wouldn't notice. They did fix the dent...woohoo. Once again, they (reluctantly) claim they will fix these issues. We show up two additional times to pick up the car which they claim is ready, but there is still white paint overspray everywhere. On the last time, the car is in their "detailing area." I take a good look around and it is absolutely filthy. Their "detailer" is using dirty old rags to wipe down the car. I also notice that the vinyl trim around the door windows is blotchy and completely discolored. I'm assuming they used some caustic chemicals to get the white paint overspray out but neglected to protect the other parts of the car. The rear fender flare is also scratched from a buffing wheel that they used on the car. Frustrated at this point and not wanting additional damage to the car, we just take it home and contact AAA with our complaints. AAA was awesome and took care of us. They covered the additional damage to the car caused by Star Auto Body (scratched fender flares, discolored plastics, gouged window tint) and made them cover a portion of it as well. In my opinion Star Auto Body got off easy...no way AAA should endorse them as a body shop. We did return to have them install a replacement passenger side door panel, and their tech had no idea what to do when he came across some rivets in the lining. After going home, we noticed the weather stripping was loose. I took it apart at home and saw they put the the OLD BROKEN RIVETS back in the door panel... Once again, Star Auto Body tried to pull a fast one on us. The overall vibe we got from Jennifer was that she just wanted to get rid of us. Every time we brought up issues that THEY caused, she kept trying to pawn the car off and get us to take it home. They were forced to get the car detailed (elsewhere, thank God) for us, but even still we'll never get the swirls and scratches their "detailer" put in there. Not to mention we are STILL finding white residue in cracks on the inside and outside of the car. Bottom line is this: Don't take your car to Star Auto Body. Once they think they are done with your car, don't expect any quality of service. You are placed on the back burner as far as their level of care goes. Worse still is their lack of integrity and trying to pawn off a piss poor job or straight up PUTTING BROKEN RIVETS into your door panel expecting you not to find out. It's unfortunate that it's hard to find places that take pride in their work these days. read more

Apparently Rusty Schmidt works with Glass USA. Glass USA's employee Adrian Perez-Aguirre STOLE 500$ cash from me! I tried to pay partial payment on debit and 500$ in cash he apparently pocketed my 500$ in cash because I'm now getting collection notices. Not only that every time I get their receptionist or anyone else on the phone all managers are in a meeting or out of the office when ever I try and call. read more

So let me tell you about my day. I woke up. Went to the gym. Showered. Got ready for work. Got into my car. Drove about a mile down the road before BAM a car turned into me, which then caused my car to run into another car. I'm a bit annoyed but accidents happen. I miss my shift (which i desperately needed because any given toddler has more money than I do at the moment) and all around my whole day is ruined. My insurance company handled the towing and where to take it. Upon arrival, I believe he was the owner. I didn't catch his name but a very friendly guy with a mustache. He tells me what's going to happen and that from the looks of it, the car is totaled. He calmed me down a LOT and turned my day completely around. He then offered to personally drive me back to my house since my car was clearly not drivable. I hope I don't have to return to this shop because I would like to keep my future car auto-body-free BUT in the case that anything needs to be done, I will be looking forward to coming here for all future needs. Wholly crapolla!! Nice work! Over the years, I've taken my cars into Auto Body facilities about a half-dozen times, each time finding little discrepancies of less than stellar work. Whether it's the paint that's not truly exact, or parts that aren't properly seated flush; I've come to just expect that the body work will never be as good as the day I bought it. I kept my hopes low as my insurance company gave me a list to choose from and I just chose Star Auto Body because it was fairly close. To make a long story short, I picked up my car today and it was like it just came off the showroom floor. All the parts fit like a glove, the paint was spot on and glossy, didn't look like a budget paint job, and even my racing stripe stickers were re-done phonomenaly. As a bonus, they washed my car completely! Not only that, but the customer service and communication was what you'd want from a business -- they kept me updated and were very courteous throughout. I found out that this is a family run business and honestly, I would have no problem getting work done here again if needed. These are good people, they paid great attention to detail, and I left super-happy. These guys rock! read more

I was very impressed with the care and professionalism Of this place. I had an accident this past summer, and they were very helpful during that stressful situation. Everything was fixed beautifully. This past week, I noticed that my heater wasn't working. It's always worked. I hadn't used it since the accident, so I went back to Gerber. They couldn't have been more accommodating! Mr. Ferguson and another associate immediately checked under the hood for anything suspicious. He was able to schedule a more thorough inspection the very next morning. Crazy thing, my heater started working on my drive to the appointment. Weird! I explained what had happened, and he couldn't have been nicer. He gave me his card in case it ever happens again. I don't know if Karen was there several years ago when I had my Honda repaired (for upwards of $8,000 they literally replaced my entire front and part of the right side after someone hit my mother from the side going about 30mph. About 6 months later while making a k-turn into my driveway, I got close to the railing and touched it as I was inching in. I get out of my car to see an 8" diameter hole of chipped off paint and a raw bumper underneath (completely UNDAMAGED... was not even dented and I now come to find out after having it replaced just recently, that the new bumper they gave me was not even METAL like my original, just cheap as hell fiberglass... thanks for that!). I intially went to the shop to request them to repaint my bumper, since this is not how paint is supposed to function on a car. I would have a scratch, if anything, I wouldn't just LOSE AN ENTIRE CHUNK OF PAINT... The rude gentleman behind the counter (believe his name was Brian, I don't know if he still works there, this was a few years ago) told me this was my fault, and he could give me a quote on repairing it. - NICE HUH??? I finally had to go back to my insurance company, who DOES stand by their warranty, and they paid for me to have it repainted at another auto body shop, after I provided them a photo from the accident where my METAL BUMPER had a 8" indent in it from the other guys car, and there was NOT ONE CHIP OF PAINT MISSING! Just a really big ass dent! So, I don't know if they've actually managed to improve their service, as the b BUI S review would lead you to believe, but if you like overpriced work that's sub-par, if that, this is your auto body shop. I took my truck in for some minor body repair through my insurance. They rush the repairs and when I came to pick it up after they called, they were still doing the finishing touches and trying to pinstripe it. I had to bring my truck back 3 times for them fix the paint and body side moulding. I had to pinstripe the truck myself because they had no clue. Now after 8 years the paint is losing the clear coat, now I would expect they're paint to last longer than the factory, but not even close the factory paint job is a million times better. So if you keep your vehicle for a while I would definitely not use this body shop. read more

I have to say, was really impressed with Star Auto Body. I took my 2016 Civic in after I was rear ended. The car was only 13 days old, so you can imagine how frustrating it must have been for me. My car didn't have much damage, but I wanted it fixed as it is brand new. I took it to Star Auto Body on referral from State Farm. My car looks great. They replaced a piece on my bumper and got the scratch and dent out. The repair was quick and communication was great. However, I was quite upset after discovering a scratch on the plastic that covers my odometer area of the dash. Whoever cleaned the inside of the vehicle put a scratch when wiping. With the car being in the shop at only 2 weeks old, it wasn't cleaned inside prior to going in the shop, so I know where it happened. I didn't notice until after I had left, so I wasn't able to bring it to their attention. The chances of them believing me hours later is slim to none, so I let it go. I was disappointed with that. I was referred here by a trusted friend. My car was part of a hit and run that left it in bad shape. Some careless driver basically ruined the front driver side of my 2012 Acura TSX Special Edition. I showed Karin my insurance's adjuster's estimate. After a quick inspection she said they completely missed a hole in the left tire fender! Anyways she assured me that by bringing it here the repairs would be done without cutting corners and with OEM parts. Long story short, she took in my car right then and there then had a rental lined up for me!
