After 15 years in the automotive industry in the tri-state area, I can say that this shop is single handedly the worst shop I have EVER dealt with. So bad in fact, that when their work inevitably fails, I will pay another shop to re-do it, rather than take advantage of their warranty. If I could give it negative stars, I would. Poor communication, coupled with incompetent technicians, and horrid customer service made repairing my truck a disaster, after I had just lost every worldly possession I owned in a house fire that caused the initial damage. Backstory: My house burned down 3/8/25, my truck (pictured) was parked in the driveway. While not impacted by flames, it was impacted by debris falling off the roof as the FD fought the fire. I brought the truck to Gerber to repair the damages, as it's my only possession that made it out, and I had previous, positive encounters with Gerber in ILLINOIS. They have now had my truck in their possession for a total of nearly 20 days - and it's arguably in worse condition than when I brought it in the first time after TWO comebacks. The first time I brought it back, it was due to missed damage, and shotty paint work with bumps in the clear coat. The second time I brought it back, there was more missed work on the doors, roof, door handles, and of course, they had to install "special order parts" that were backordered (it was literally vinyl wrap). This last time, I was quoted a week and told them I needed it back by Friday to go out of town for the long weekend. While my truck was in their possession, they got it absolutely filthy, busted my back window, messed up my window trim, and broke my window regulator. The truck is quite literally so dirty now, I cannot even check their work prior to a wash. There is still glass in the bed of my truck, dust all over the exterior, and interior. I have had warning lights on since the second time I brought it in because they couldn't get somebody reliable to come out and calibrate the assisted cruise control/crash sensors. I regularly had to call for updates because their communication was severely lacking - I had no idea about the special order part until the Friday I was supposed to pick it up. I had no idea they BROKE MY WINDOW AND REGULATOR until today, the day I was supposed to pick it up. They expected me to come back a FOURTH time, to get it reprogrammed and have their incompetent techs repairs my window regulator. When I complained about the lack of care put into these repairs, the general manager Jordan blamed me for not pointing out all the defects. I told him the condition pre-incident, I pointed out everything I saw, and asked for a THOROUGH RUN THROUGH because they are the experts, not me. He also lied to my insurance stating it was taking longer than expected because "it was only supposed to come in for the vinyl wrap". Each and every time I got the truck back, I was on the phone within 30 minutes letting them know everything they missed. They knew it was coming in for more than vinyl tape. I will now be taking the truck to the dealer to fix every thing they personally damaged, and everything they failed to fix correctly the first three times. Had an incident where my car had to get repaired. Jordan did a complete analysis of the situation and they scheduled the pickup of my rental when I was dropping off my car. They kept me up to date of the status. When I picked up my car I noticed they missed a spot. Without issue they were going to fix it at no charge. I was waiting for confirmation from my insurance to cover another rental. My insurance called to approve and advised me to call the car rental company, which I did. When I called Gerber to advise I got a rental and to schedule drop off, the receptionist got very upset and rude!!! It was all downhill after that. Glad it's over and I got my car back. We are very lucky to have found Tonys Auto Collision Center today!! Dealing with a crumpled rear fender from a hit and run driver, when we drove into Tonys and met Darren Markert. Explaining finances were tight and cosmetics were not our main concern, Darren asked if we had a few minutes and he was able to pop it out and aside from a small scratch in the paint, looks as good as new! For a company to have someone like Darren working there, I know they are ethical and are looking out for the customer. I will bring any auto work needed to Tonys, knowing I will get a very fair deal! I was recently in a car accident and had to get a quote for my insurance company, and took my vehicle to Tony's. I must admit right off the bat that I didn't actually receive any auto body work on my car, but that was only because my insurance company deemed it totaled rather than repairable. I must say, though, that everyone was extremely helpful, professional, and helped make my very bad situation someone tolerable. They were quick, very responsive with my insurance company...and even kept me MORE in the loop than my insurance company at various points in the estimate process. I have trust-issues when it comes to companies that repair anything (cars, appliances, etc.) but I felt like these guys earned my trust, and would earn my business in the future. read more

I went into Tony's and everyone was very nice even though they were very busy. I had a question on my break light that needed to be replaced and they helped me out right away! I had a past car repaired by Tony's, and had a great experience several years ago. After hitting a deer in October, 2015, I knew to take it to Tony's. My vehicle was smashed....badly. From the initial tow job to the updates by Darren, to pickup this week, I was tremendously impressed. Having an accident is very traumatic, hitting a deer is frightening as well. However, they made the process simple and non-threatening. They took care of all paperwork for my insurance, I simply signed a few papers. That is it. No repair estimates, no battling over parts or prices. Tony's took care of everything which allowed me peace of mind. Why do I love Tony's? Professional staff, courteous service, frequent updates on progress, and my insurance agency (State Farm) has them as a "preferred provider". When I got my nearly new Jeep Grand Cherokee back recently, it looked better than new! The whole vehicle had been scrubbed, the work was meticulous. I worried that my new Jeep would now have slight air noise or other issues with a $10,000 repair, but no need to fear. Tony's did a tremendous job. No one wants to have bodywork done (as usually it signals an accident occurred). However, you have a choice in what facility repairs your damaged vehicle. I would HIGHLY recommend Tony's. read more
