I figure it's time to give them their props! They have always done exceptional work. Even when I have looked for flaws, I have found none. I appreciate their willingness to keep the car a little longer to get the right parts in order to do an exceptional job--because when the car is returned, that's all that matters. Every step of the process was smooth, even the car rental (with pick-up and drop-off). Just want to say to Gerber, "Thank you for your consistency in doing good work". And maybe I can't give Gerber all the glory. I must say that my car Insurance, "State Farm" has never given me any issues. A "shout-out" to them too! I got into an accident and my insurance company had me go to Gerber. After they looked at the car they told me I would get an estimate later in the afternoon and they would copy the insurance company. I was told that the insurance company would get back to them (Gerber). The estimate came two days later. Three weeks had passed and no contact from Gerber. I called my insurance company and they informed me they wired the funds to repair my car three weeks ago to Gerber. I called Gerber and they confirmed that they had received the funds. I asked why they did not call me to inform me that I should bring my car in to be repaired. They responded that not everyone follows through to get their cars repaired. I don't know what their policy is when they receive payment from the insurance company, but by not contacting me a red flag went up. I made an appointment to have my car repaired. I had to rent a car during the time it was in their possession. A day after I dropped my car off Gerber called and said their supplier no longer carried the parts that my car needed and they had to source the parts from another supplier. The second suppliers cost was near double the first estimate. Long story short I went back to Gerber the next day to recover my car as the cost to repair it changed dramatically. Gerber offered to give me an estimate to repair some of the damage for a lot less, and would send me an estimate later that day. The estimate has still not arrived weeks later. This situation cost me three days rental car fees as well as time I had to spend off work and dealing with the insurance company. Just frustrating. read more

They were stellar and customer service. Nothing bad to say at all. However my vechile was classified as a total loss but my insurance company so therefore I did not have Gerber do the repairs. They held my vechile for me while I still had the rental and was laboring over the decision as to what to do. They never once rushed me to pick it up. When I came to drop off my rental, the Gerber people were compassionate and kind. They even taped up my quarter panel so I could drive it off the lot. Class act establishment. How do you like that? On my car, the rear window was changed where defrosting is provided. And it does not work. But the most important thing, both the mechanic and the manager tried very hard to prove to me that everything was fine. And so Three times. Three! I'm going to try to keep this as professional as possible. My 2016 Honda HR-V was in a parked hit and run and the only damage was the driver side door was caved in and side mirror casing needed to be replaced. Okay. So they pulled the dent the first time and chipped the side mirror casing. They repainted the the dented door and the door next to it to blend. Here's where the problems arise. Their paint job is utter garbage. There's pinholes and fish eyes everywhere (I understand one or two are unavoidable in a messy body shop) So now my rear door which was fine is also messed up with literally clumps of dirt underneath the paint. The side mirror casing also wasn't replaced as they just repainted and put it back on and chipped the arm that holds it, in the process. There's areas with tape lines from poor prep work clearly visible. The seal for the glass is also broken. All the panels are misaligned related to the repair. So I take it back, I give them another shot. I speak to the manager and he acknowledges everything and we mark it up and it stays there for another 1 and a half weeks. I get my car back and it's the same shit. Now, the mirror casing which I requested to be replaced is just painted over fully and they basically painted a two-piece part into one and didn't replace. The dent from the original accident is still there, the paint is still messed up. AND NOW THE FRONT FENDER AND THE REAR QUARTER PANEL HAD TO BE REPAINTED DUE TO THEIR IGNORANCE AS WELL (ALL OF WHICH WERE FACTORY OEM PAINTED PANELS). I took it to a body shop my dealer recommended and they took everything apart. Here's what the damage Gerber did: Fish eyes and pinholes and all areas that paint work was done. Painted rear quarter panel near taillight and didn't tape properly, so it took the clear coat off that edge. They broke all the clips on all parts that were removable and GLUED THEM BACK ON. Unnecessarily painted three extra fucking panels. Did not replace parts I requested be replaced and pocketed the cash. Paint did not match. Dent wasn't removed. Used an old method to fix large dents which requires welding and pulling to remove dents, but didn't coat the welds to prevent rust. Scratched glass. Bent weather seal between door and glass for rear door. Inside was dirty as hell. There's so many more things they did improperly that I can't even fit it in this small review. Check out the pictures for some of the trash work they did. I included the original damage as well. All in all, my 2016 Honda HRV with 20k miles has had all this work done for one fucking door. Luckily, the body shop my dealer recommended was open and transparent during the process and fully documented everything so they'll be hearing from my lawyer soon. I've never written a review on Yelp, but if this can help even one person, I'll be satisfied. read more

Scheduled for a windshield repair today 6/20/20. Technician called 8am to confirm appointment between 12-2pm. Waited patiently until 2:30, no one showed up and nobody called that he (Alfredo) would be late. Called customer support 2:45 and mentioned that she will inform the technician (Alfredo) to inform me of new ETA. 4:45pm came and no one called or showed up. Called support again and they said technician called me to reschedule and I did not respond. No idea what number he called as he was able to reached me earlier this morning. I was recently in an auto accident where it was the other person's fault and this place was preferred by his insurance company to fix the number on my brand new 2013 Acura TSX that I bought with only miles on it. It was only 2 months old when I got hit. That's another Oprah show. This place seemed awesome at first, they got me in fast and were super friendly. Ron, my estimator called me as promised to let me know how long the repairs would take and called when it was ready. Totally cool and as promised. My car was also cleaned inside and out after the repairs, which is a nice touch. However, since this is a BRAND NEW car that I'm paying for, I'm understandably particular about how it is taken car of as it was in MINT condition before I took it in (with the exception of the bumper damage). I was adamant when talking to Ron that the repairmen were NOT to drag their feet across the threshold getting into the car as there were no scuffs yet and I did not want any. I showed him this and took pix. When I picked up my car, the driver side threshold was covered in scuff marks. I was not pleased. Not only that, but the driver's floor mat was covered in white dust and when I asked the guy who was transferring my car back to me why this was, he kind of of laughed and said "well look at the floor, it's covered in dust and gets tracked in"...so the car was clean but the driver floor mat was covered in white dirt/dust from the shop. They did not use the paper mat covers that every shop I've ever been to for any service or repairs uses to protect the mats. This and the scuff marks (which I was clear about BEFORE turning my car in are why I am giving this place 3 stars and not 5. read more

But from the moment we took my moms car in for the estimate and repair and wait time was so smooth. We wold get text alerts when the car would be ready and when it actually was which I liked. Best of all, even though my insurance does not include a loaner, Gerber had a deal with the Enterprise up the street to give me a free rental for the five days my car was in the shop! After reading the other reviews and the fact that they're somewhat close to home **and** they offered a free car rental for 5 days; I decided to go with Gerber and I'm glad I did. I took my car for an estimate early in the morning before work. They promptly looked at my car, came back and gave me a walk through on how they got their estimate. The price was great, the amount of time to fix it however was another story. This was one out of a couple shops I called, so compared to the rest they stood out most for their friendly service, location, hours, and price. Fast forward, I got my car back just under a week which was much sooner then they had estimated. They detailed it, inside and out. The best part? I didn't have to spend a dime more on a car rental! My husband is kind of unlucky. I say that because we've been here 3 times in a few years. 2 times the car was towed in after someone hit him, and they fixed it when they said they would. Actually the last time was a day early. Payments were handled great. The other insurance company that cut us a check, we just signed it over to Gerber, and they also dealt with additional hassles with the other person's insurance company. (Their adjuster didn't mark down that the car had no brakes since cell phone driver chickie cut our brake lines when she hit us. Obviously, that increases the cost.) Gerber handled it directly. Also, the time we lost our side mirror and had to pay ourselves, we went to several places for estimates, and they came in below. Excellent work - you'd never know it was missing. I rarely give five tears, but I had to give this place the best. After hearing the news that my car who had never been in an accident before was missing a front bumper and damage to the side I was immediately stressed. I thought about how terrible of an experience this could be, but Gerber made everything a dream. Just when I was about to call them, they called me saying that had received my car and would be starting right away. They worked directly through my insurance. They called every Tuesday and Thursday for updates, which was awesome. Then next, thing you know my car was ready in less than a week in and a half. My car look brand new! I have taken cars here twice, now, and both times have left with the car looking better than it ever had in its whole life! Seriously, it's almost worth it to get into a fender bender just to have the team at this Gerber location apply their expert touch to your vehicle. But here's the thing: Gerber's known for doing a great job, but most folks assume this also means they are far more expensive than average. They're not. Bob, my estimator, was super quick and efficient, came in a small but significant amount under the estimate, and even told me where to go to find online coupons. They gave me updates every couple of days, and when I came to pick up the car I almost didn't recognise it, it looked so good. Besides replacing/fixing the affected body parts, they had also cleaned the car within an inch of its life, inside and out! Everyone was ridiculously nice and helpful. I callled back spoke to Jenifer" who always professional and very nice on the phone" who transferred me to Ivan the production manager, I explained to him my concerns and he jumped into action and told me to bring in the car. The staff here was so helpful. I came in because I was rear-ended by an uninsured driver on my way to my hooding ceremony (I know right?) Mike A. estimated the damage but explained that it may be more once they open up the vehicle. We scheduled an appointment for the next week. I dropped off the vehicle on a Monday and was given a rental car by Enterprise. My car was ready for pick up on Wednesday. If your concerned with quality and want your car fixed on time and done right then avoid this place at all cost. People are friendly and that's about the only thing going for them. I've had my car here on two separate occasions and am not satisfied with either experience. The first time I was here they weren't able to match the paint correctly and tried to pass off placing a damaged piece back on. This last time I was in a minor accident and it's taken them 3 weeks to fix and a week past projected date. I have some aftermarket parts that they had no clue what they were or where to get them. Worst part was that I received a call saying my car was going to be done a few days early only to find out they were wrong. Went to pick the car up and found the paint had bubbled after I had the managers "word" that the car would be perfect. One word sums both of my experiences up...."headache"!! read more

My car was struck by the tornadoes that stormed through Indiana in late November 2013, and my insurance company (USAA) sent me to Gerber to have the car repaired. The car was damaged on all sides, so it took Gerber two extra weeks to replace parts, buff, and paint. Under normal circumstances I might be upset about the completion time falling so far outside the estimate, but Gerber took care of me during that time. In particular: - Gerber got me a complimentary rental, and while their rental policy usually only goes 5 days, Gerber extended the rental through the rest of the time it took to repair my vehicle. Thus I was able to pick up groceries, attend events, and essentially continue my life as normal despite my car being in the shop. - Gerber's agent, Andrew Rasmussen, patiently explained every part of the repair that needed to be done. He explained the extra time, and gave me options that allowed me to make an informed decision about what my my insurance was to cover. He set up the rental and made sure that I was taken care of, essentially removing any worry or stress that might have otherwise bothered me. In the end, my car was repaired and looks great. When there were complications with the repair, Gerber handled those complications very well. They were understanding and accommodating and didn't cost me a cent more. Had a hit and run when my car was parked and my driver's rear end bumper was damaged. Gerber Collision & Glass called me the next day after my claim was processed by my insurance company to schedule an estimate appointment (that took about 10-15 min). They worked with my schedule and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful! They had my car all fixed and ready (and they cleaned it too!) within a couple hours after I dropped it off. The receptionist Jennifer answered all my questions and was an absolutely lovely woman. Ryan F. was professional, friendly, and had a good sense of humor. Someone smashed into the rear of my Mini Cooper and my agent directed me to Gerber (again). This time, instead of the Crystal Lake facility where I always had great service (thanks Enoch) I went closer to home .. here on Elston (now that I've moved). Bob James wrote up the estimate and assured me that all would be just fine .. and it was. When I picked up my car, I first noticed how clean and detailed my car was. Nice touch.. as only then would I be able to really tell what work had been done. The fitting of components, fender, wheel well etc was like new. Also, I noted earlier that I thought something besides what was written up was wrong.. that the sound and banging was not there before. Bob called me, told me what they found and repaired that too - and did not charge extra. As I paid the bill out of pocket, this was extremely important to me. Another thing. When the car was pulled up, a worker there noticed that a bulb, probably not resultant of the accident for which I brought the vehicle in for was out; a tail light.. Immediately, he rushed to get the part, popped out the whole assembly and fixed the issue. Not a real simple issue on the Mini. Throughout, from the woman in the office who was extremely polite and cordial, to Bob and the worker that replaced my bulb, each shook my hand and did it wholeheartedly and with a smile. This is the first time I had ever wrote a review.. ever. I was just so impressed. I don't know if they are this nice all the time, .. was it because I knew the people in Crystal Lake or just because... but they were nice to me and I felt good about the whole, entire experience. Although I paid for the repairs, I want to say thanks to my Farmers Agent Wayne Patterson for directing me this way.
