I was side swiped after a driver rear ended the two cars in the lane on my right. The rear bumper front/rear qtr panels, door, wheels, tires, and side mirror with Honda Lane Watch camera all damaged during the accident. I was very nervous and skeptical of all body shops repairing my car, so I looked on Honda's website for body shops and Dusty's is a certified Honda body shop with Great reviews. Kasey was my estimator and kept me updated on the progress of the repairs to my car. She is very good at updating me and responding to all my emails and calls. I am very happy with the customer service I received at Dusty's and will recommend anyone to take their car there for body work. My car looks great! There is almost nothing that makes your heart sink to the pit of your stomach more quickly than the loud "crunch" of a headlamp and scraping of metal. Crap! I am generally a pretty decent driver, and usually pretty aware of my boundaries, but unfortunately, while a bit frazzled, I scraped up against a yellow pole in a parking garage. The damage wasn't huge, but it was a major bummer. It was the first time I had done anything like this in a long time. Argggh. Now, I own my car outright, and though it's reliable and I hope to drive it for a good long time, I don't necessarily need or want it to look brand new. I really didn't want to pay a $500 deductible or buy a whole new body panel. For the small amount of denting and scratching, it seemed a bit excessive. When I explained this to the fellows at Dusty's they were able to come up with an option to pop a turn-signal light unit back in, touch up the paint, and bend the body back out to "good enough" and the light would look just fine. Well, that's exactly what they did, quite successfully, at exactly the price they quoted me. I appreciated that they didn't try to push my into a more expensive repair. They've also been very good at replacing my fella's car windows and fixing some vandalism on his previous car several times (we live in an area where a few times a year a bunch of cars will just get smashed up on the street -- probably drunk kids or something). So, overall, I feel like Dusty's has taken very good care of us. read more

So far I'm not happy. It has taken 3 1/2 weeks to get my car fixed. My husband hit a Canadian goose. Roof and windshield needed replacing. My biggest complaint is inaccurate estimate of time. I was told a time and it wasn't ready. I was told another time and it wasn't ready. I was told another time and it wasn't ready. The third time I came to the business and sat here to wait. I was told 15-20 minutes. After 30 minutes, I was told 15 more minutes "tops". It has been 15 minutes. I don't have time to waste. Don't believe them when they tell you it will be ready. My suggestion is to be honest so that your customers don't have expectations that are not delivered. Updating as soon as I see the finished product and get the actual time of waiting. So far the 15 minutes has turned into 25. The results were very good in spite of the time it took. read more

The front right corner of my RX 330 was extensively damaged in a parking lot collision at Meijer's during the Snowpocalypse last year. I selected Dusty's over Zahn's based on the recommendation of several people for this nearly $2,500 repair. Dusty's was marginally more expensive than Zahn's but nicer and closer to my downtown office in Ann Arbor. Interestingly, Dusty's is a direct bill vendor for Citizen's Insurance, my carrier, and Zahn's is not. In the end I found Dusty's to be nice but comically incompetent. They were able to get the sheet metal right but Dusty's installed the wrong fixed head light into my car. From a customer perspective, Dusty's was like "me bang metal, real good - me not so smart with part book thing." It took 6 trips, 5 drop offs at 2 separate repair shops and a ton of time for them to identify the problem and install the correct, self-leveling HID headlight which are installed on roughly 50% of the cars that Lexus sells. Here are the details: Problem: Wrong headlight installed during collision repair. Date 4.15.11, Original Repair, 5 Days, Diagnostic light indicates headlight problem upon pickup. Date 4.22.11, 2nd Trip, 1 Day, Customer drop off; repair attempted; need headlight calibration using tool at Arbor Motion. Date 5.9.11, 3rd Trip, 1 Day, Customer drop off; referred to Arbor Motion for calibration; wrong headlight installed. Date 5.20.11, 4th Trip, Customer wait, Wrong headlight ordered by Dusty's; unable to install. Date 6.15.11, 5th Trip, 1 Day, Broken/defective headlight received by Dusty's; unable to install. Date 6.24.11, 6th Trip, 1 Day, Correct self-leveling headlight installed by Dusty's. They were always nice and generous with a loaner car twice but I value competence. The problem at Dusty's is that no one seems to be in charge. It was interesting that I asked them for an additional quote on what looked like a simple ding from a lacrosse ball Dusty's gave me an informal $900 quote. I thought it was a bit shocking after having put up with over two months of errors and run around. I am sorry I selected them for my business. read more

Made sure I had a ride to Hertz for my rental car and took my rental back at their collision center, so I didn't have to take it back to Hertz myself after picking up my own car. After getting in to an accident and wanting to save a little money I chose to go to this place because they seemed like they could "work with me" to cut some of the costs of repair. I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" is true. They did a horrible job, completely forgetting some parts (which I had to bring it back for and leave it with them for 2 weeks for), charging me way more than the estimate, taking much much longer to do the work than they promised, repeatedly giving me wrong completion dates, getting the inside of my car filthy with dust, and not completely fixing the job (my car still leaks a little bit, although they couldn't find the leak). I brought my Nissan GTR here with a broken windshield that was caused by the wind folding the hood backwards into the glass. The car needed hood hinges and glass. Dusty's took my car in the same day and got it repaired in two days. It was stored indoors the whole time and everyone was absolutely professional. I was in a serious accident. This shop lied to my claims adjuster claiming to be BMW certified, as mine is a specialty BMW I needed to make sure this was the case. After three out of four of my allotted rents car weeks, another insurance adjuster needed to visit and see they had taken my car apart only to realize they could not fix it, and that they were, in fact, not BMW certified. My adjuster had to determine through an outside mechanic that my car was a total loss. I am now out a paid rental vehicle and must pay on my own until I find a car. I am out a lot of money because they lied, rentals are super high priced and inventory is low on new or used cars. Without apologies, they sent me in a downpour to get my belongings and license plate from the lot. After getting totally soaked, I found out they had my plate and belongings already. I've needed some body work done a few times in the past couple of years, and after I found Dusty's, they became my first choice. 1. My SO backed into a car in a parking lot and damaged the trunk. Dusty's suggested the cheaper alternative of a new trunk without a spoiler. Saved me some $$. 2. Someone hit my 2 year old car in a parking lot while I was parked (and didn't leave a note, the inconsiderate SOB), leaving me with major side damage. Dusty's did a very good job (not great, some residue from the tape) in a reasonable amount of time. 3. Someone else hit my SO in a parking lot, t-boned the car as we drove by. We apparently don't have good luck in parking lots. It was completely the other driver's fault and he and Dusty's worked out the financial details that evening. I arranged to drop off the car in a couple of days, during which time someone knocked off the side mirror on the other side of the car. Dusty's found a third party after-market mirror and installed it for less than half of what the dealer wanted. Dusty himself has done pretty well for himself and has donated back to the community. I honestly wish I could give Dusty's ten stars. They were so nice and helpful when I came in and they set up an appointment for me to bring in my car almost immediately. My car was pretty banged up and they had it back to me within three days. Not only did they fix the large scrape and dent on my car but they also touched up some small scratches and dents it had with paint. It doesn't end there, when I got my car back it was spotless. It looked like it had been freshly detailed. Before I took it in the floors were a mess on the inside after lots of snow and mud and I got my car back looking brand new. I refuse to even give these guys 1 star, I have a 2019 Chevy Blazer, it was hit by someone who lost control of there car, it arrived at Gerber collision on October 24 2019, GM who sucks as well took 3 months to get them the parts, parts finally arrive January 21st, the guys at Gerber bragged to me about how good and great they were, I felt confident, they did not even come close to living up to my expectations! first of all it took 65 days for them to fix my car, they knew of the wait I had with GM, they gave me so many excuses it made me dizzy, gave me 6 different finish dates, I ended up getting it 3 weeks after first date given and after I had to become a prick about it, I really believe the manager was scared of me, when I picked up the car, instead of a simple apology, he hid behind his workers, regional manager did apologize, but it was to late! Long story short, within a week both mine and my husband's cars were 'hit and run' at our apartment complex. Insurance deemed broad form, meaning they cover damage in full, no deductible. We brought my husband's car in first, they were awesome. No complaints, customer service was the boom. They also cleaned both inside and outside of car. My car, we brought in this past Monday. Did their estimate, I'll get her back Friday. They called Thursday, car is ready! Yay, a day early! So after rushing home (milan) to pick up my husband and drive all the way back out to Ann Arbor to pick up my car, I was not allowed to take my car home. (This is part of the only three star rating) The receptionist, I believe Linda, said the computer says there a $500 deductible for insurance. No there's not. So I had to drive back, again, on Friday morning (and was late to work) so she could ask when a progressive agent was there to tell her there is no deductible. Now, they are a collision center and deal with insurance all the time. My opinion, she should've known progressive's terms. Anyways, so I get my car Friday. Drive it to work, notice a clinking sound. I don't really look at my car, since o was late for work. When I get off, I walked up to my car and noticed a bolt stuck in my tire (nice little present from Dusty's...and yes I know it was not on purpose, but still happened). I call them and they say they'll repair the tire, but are closing soon and won't be able to until Wednesday (second reason for only three stars). So I'm like ok, let's make an appointment...hopefully the tire will last. Nope. About two minutes from my home, 'low tire light' comes on. I pull into the parking lot and park. Open door and hear a loud gushing sound of air. Tire in completely flat. Next day, Saturday, I put the spare tire on and call Discount Tire. Not only can they fit me in that day, but repair was free of charge. They saved the day! So that's my experience. We'll still take our cars to Dusty's in the future if needed, we had a great experience and a not so great one. It happens. Not mad, just a little frustrated. read more

We've had two cars repaired at Dusty's in the last year. Each time they did a fantastic job. The first was our daughter's 1 year old Subaru which was T-boned and sustained significant damage. The repair cost was nearly $9,000. They had to weld a new section of the car into place, replace both side doors, repaint, and replace 100 other small parts that broke. After they were done you could not tell that anything ever happened. The doors closed perfectly with exactly the same gap all around, all of the electrical worked, the paint matched perfectly, no weld marks, no squeaks, rattles, nothing. They did the job right. And, to top it off, they cleaned the car thoroughly inside and out. And, if all that wasn't enough, they had the car done exactly when they said they would. Second was our Camry. This was just a fender bender. They gave an on-the-spot estimate, worked everything out with the insurance company, ordered the parts they needed, and gave us an appointment for the following week. We brought it in, they took care of the repairs quickly, finished when they said they would and also cleaned the car thoroughly inside and out. We hope we're done with collision work for a while, but if we need any more repairs we're not going to bother going anyplace else. read more

My experience with Dusty's was really positive and Allen was fantastic. I can't speak to pricing as Dusty's is a preferred partner with my insurance and they worked out all of the details between them. My car had a bumper that was cracked and they replaced it beautifully. In the process, someone dropped the new bumper that had just been painted, which caused the repairs to take one day longer. Allen was super apologetic and offered me a loaner, but I wasn't in a hurry to get my car back. When I went to pick up my car, Allen fixed some unrelated scratches for free my car, much to my surprise, and been detailed and cleaned on the inside. Bonus! The waiting room took a little while, so that is my only reason for marking them down. I also wish they were open until 5:30 so people have time to get there after work to pick up their cars. read more

They offered to remove my plate and anything personal from my vehicle and send it to me, since they are located about 50 miles away. After 2 weeks, I called and was told the items were sent out. Two week later, after 4 unanswered phone calls, was told my plate was there, but nothing else. Shady. Don't offer a service if you cannot provide it. I was highly recommended by 3 of my local friends to take my car to Dusty's, as it was where they always took their car and was the only body ship they're happy with. I saw a few negative reviews, but trusted my local friends. Well, apparently I'm the one unlucky customer, because my experience was so bad it turned comical. By the end, all I could do was laugh. I took my newish MINI Countryman there after an unfortunate incident. Knowing it was a new body type, I expected some issues with the repair. I was quoted 5 days, which was more than they normally would need but took this into account. Cool. Insurance eventually approved the quote and I dropped it off on a Monday. On Friday, I gave a call to see the status. I was told it would be ready to pick up around 4:45PM. Then, around 4:30, as I was about ready to leave I received another call. Turns out it was taking them longer than expected to put back together my car, and it wouldn't be ready until Monday. No Big Deal, I understand. I call on Monday. Turns out they had the wrong part for the plates under the doors and had to order the correct part, which they were expecting that afternoon. I finally picked it up right near close of business on Monday, Aug 1st. On my drive home, I realize that my auto-up function of the drivers side door doesn't work. In addition, the only way I can adjust my mirrors is "down", since the mirror switch was re-installed wrong. Great. Give them a call, drop my car off again, and wait for it to be repaired. They had to order a new mirror switch, so it was in there for a few days. I picked it up again on Aug 3rd. I get home and decide to actually go over my car to make sure nothing else is wrong. It is then that I discover that on the plastic rocker molding, they didn't put a clip in so it's loose. Inside the door, there are rubber grommets missing that should cover some holes. I also notice that the chrome piece below my window, it appears when they took it off they set it on something and let it get scratched to hell and back. Additionally, the paint on the passenger door was put on too thick, so it was rubbing against the driver door and causing scratches on both doors. Below the drivers door, there was still some accident damage which should have been repaired. Honestly, at this point I was fuming. I waited until the 5th to call, since I was still really upset at the workmanship. I left a message for the person I had been working with, since he was out of town. He gets back with me on August 8th and I explain to him my frustrations with the quality of work, the problems I've had, and how I expected better from Dusty's. I drive my car over to show him and either another manager or one of the owners my concerns. After looking over the car, he agrees with everything I've pointed out and even points out a few other issues with the paint. I agree to drop it off the next day, Aug 9th, so they can take care of all these issues. I receive a call on the 18th saying it's ready, so I go to pick it up. When I pick it up, they tell me they were not able to fix the chrome piece below the door because MINI has it on backorder, suggesting that it's due to a quality issue (which is true) and that MINI will end up replacing all the pieces anyway. This slightly annoys me, since they should have told this to me over the phone, not telling me everything is fixed and it's ready to pick up. The saga continues. I noticed that the door was slightly hard to close when I got back to work and discover that the door is mounted slightly off and hitting the weather stripping - already causing it to tear. I call, again, and speak with a manager, and immediately bring the car back over. They fix that issue and order a replacement weather strip. A week or so later, I receive a call saying the weather strip replacement is in and to schedule a time to get it replaced. We agree on the morning of August 31st. I take it in, wait, and eventually I am told that they can not find the replacement weather strip. They say it was there last night, but now isn't where it should be and they looked all over. Rather than wasting more of my day, they say they'll order another one and/or continue to look for the strip and give me a call. On Friday, Sept 2nd I receive a call stating they found it and to give them a ring next week to schedule a time. I call on the 7th and am told the replacement chrome piece also arrived, so we agree on the morning of Sept 8th. Finally, the issues are resolved. While the issues were resolved, I am EXTREMELY unhappy with the quality of work at Dusty's. There are still minor issues I have decided to live with at this point, but they all point to carelessness during work. I haven't even mentioned that I had to spend 2-3+ hours cleaning every surface of the car due to a thin coating of red dust from them sanding the first paint attempt down. The ONLY good thing is their front office is VERY friendly. read more

I recently took my car to Dusty's for hail damage repair and would not return. Although the repair work was excellent, their customer service is appalling. My car had several issues when I picked it up, and the repair work took twice as long (6 business days instead of 3) than I was quoted. I took my car in for an estimate and was quoted $1200 and two to three business days for the repair. After dealing with my insurance company, I left the car on Sunday night before going on a business trip. On my return on Thursday, I called to verify I could pick the car up. Dusty's informed me the car wouldn't be done until Monday because they had requested a new estimate ($3000!) -- but they hadn't notified me of that. When I picked the car up, it was not "done." The A-pillar interior room was loose and jammed the seatbelts so they couldn't be used. The front fender liners were loose and rubbed noisily on the tires as I drove. The front lip of the car was loose on one corner, yet Dusty's incorrectly claimed it was like that when I dropped the car off. Although Dusty's fixed these issues for free, their only apology was, "We were really busy after the hail storm." As noted above, the actual metal repair work was outstanding and very impressive. The car looks great. However, I cannot recommend Dusty's and would never return based on the disgusting customer service. read more

I will never be taking any vehicle back to this or any other Dusty's Collision. The first time they began working on my vehicle, they returned it to me unfinished 9 hours later because they ordered the wrong parts and some parts didn't arrived in time (which they never mentioned, or were unaware, of during the drop-off). Because of this, I was forced to drive around for 10 days with a damaged exhaust, an unfinished bumper and non matching trim on the grille. When I scheduled a second 8AM appointment for 9 days later, I was told that the remaining work was minor and "should be done in a few hours". When that day arrived, the car was dropped off at 7:50 but the work wasn't finished until 4:30. I was given no updates until I called at 2:30 to see what was taking so long. Keep in mind that it only took 1.5 hours to install the exhaust when I originally purchased it and the remaining cosmetic work was considered "very minor". Bottom line: if you have access to multiple vehicles, maybe you'll be content with your Dusty's experience. However, if you're dependent on 1 car for transportation, you may want to search for some place that can be quicker with their work or more accurate with their estimated completion times. read more

Avoid this place. Substandard workmanship. If you find a problem with their repair job, they make excuses to avoid you. It's so horrible that I feel really compelled to share my experience. After an accident, I replaced fuel tank and fuel pump at this place. The problem is that I got this check-engine light right after the repair. The error code says a fault in the 'evaporative control system' is the problem, and I had to retrieve the OBD-II error code myself from local Autozone, because they say they don't have the 'tools' for this. Anyway, this error code indicates a failure in 'purging' collected fuel vapor back to the fuel tank. It basically means there is a problem with the fuel system, which is exactly where they worked on. I took my car there again and talked about this problem. But they outright denied follow-up inspection or anything, citing the error code can be caused by many factors. They didn't even bother to open up the hood. And they basically said I should take my car to the dealer, and it is MY JOB to pinpoint the source of the problem to PROVE that they're responsible, and only then they will take a look at it. I can tell you for sure that the guys at this place either completely suck at what they're doing so they can't tell the simple causality of a problem, or are dishonest, making excuses to avoid customers after services. Bottom line: beware customers, avoid this place. read more
