The links are by far my favorite and haven't found anything close to the taste where I live now. Wish they shipped orders bc I would buy a box of links every month if I could lol. Great little place to come for your homemade beef link fix. It is truly a hole in the wall and as you're driving up, you may ask yourself, "Are they still open?" Why yes, there is a small dimly lit sign in the window that says "Open". I ordered the combo plate for $14 which includes 2 meats and 2 sides. Chose the beef links and pork ribs. Wasn't super impressed with the ribs since they were a little dry and not much meat. The sauce was dark, runny and just alright. The beef links are delicious though and eaten by squeezing the meat from the casing onto the white bread, sort of like a minced meat sandwich. The taste is earthy, herbal and spiced somewhat similar to mexican chorizo, for comparison...just a lot better. The homemade sides I chose were beans and rice dressing. Pinto beans came out steaming hot and were okay, nothing special, no brisket or pork pieces added to them, just light on the spices. The rice dressing is basically a lightly seasoned dirty rice which has a slight spiciness to it. They do charge 75 cents if you use credit card. Interior is nothing fancy whatsoever and hasn't changed much since the 1970s. Many people do seem to come through the drive-thru instead of dining in. read more

Driving through Beaumont on our way to New Orleans, I realized that I hadn't tried any bbq joints in Texas. Wow, am I glad to have found this place. The beef sausage and ribs were some of the best meat dishes I've ever had in my life. The sauce was incredible -- I lapped it all up with the side of white bread. Links and Rib plate with double Rice dressing. Sauce makes this place unique, along with the Links. The meat inside the Links are like tender smoked ground beef, soaked in his own sauce. Rice dressing is most definitely creole Louisiana. Nothing west of Crowley is close. read more

Saw this on the TV show TrueSouth planning on stopping in on my way to Nachez Mississippi.

I took my order, which was the link dinner, to go. The link paired with the white bread was fantastic. The meat definitely has a kick to it. I thought the potato salad and beans were pretty good, and the rice was wonderful as well. I will definitely try other items on the menu when I get the chance. Overall, I recommend this diner, and I may eat my next meal at the diner instead of taking it to go just to get a better feel of the place. read more

Found this hidden gem while going cross country and it was well worth the stop. Nothing fancy here....... just great pork ribs in a seer and spicy vinegar based sauce. The potato salad was delicious. Spiced rice was also unique and tasty. read more

It pains me to give a negative review, but I feel duty bound. I stopped at Gerard's on my way home from Louisiana, hoping for some good barbecue. I intended to eat at Jack Patillo's, which is supposed to be a Beaumont BBQ institution. However, my wife read the Yelp reviews and we decided against it. She found Gerard's with its 4 1/2 Star average rating and we landed there. We both had the 2 meat dinner of brisket & ribs. First of all, it didn't resemble BBQ; virtually no smoke on this meat. The brisket was cut up in chunks, rather than sliced across the grain and was unbearably tough. The ribs were small chunks of bone in meat. They were better than the brisket, but nothing to write home about. A number of customers came in and ordered the "pork bones". I'm not sure what that is, but maybe the way to go. The sides were good. The dirty rice (delicious), the potato salad and beans were really all we ate. The gentleman serving us said all of the sides were "homemade", but I couldn't tell the pinto beans from Ranch Style beans out of a can. Fortunately, I like those. They didn't have onions to go with the BBQ. WHAT?? Often, the sauce(which I don't use on good BBQ) will salvage mediocre BBQ. Unfortunately this sauce did not. The bottom line is that I will leave Beaumont BBQ far behind in my rear view mirror. When I get hungry coming through Beaumont, I will stop for some good Boudin, Seafood or Soul Food. There are too many opportunities for great BBQ in Texas to settle for anything less. read more

We live in Houston and hoped to find a good barbeque place in Beaumont when we are traveling through. I saw Gerald's online and thought it might be a good place to try. Both my husband and I could not eat what was given us. We were served what seemed to be gristle on white bread with ketchup on top. We could not understand it since there was a line of cars in the drive-through. We told them we had heard it was very good and we were looking forward to eating there. We paid and left all the food except a bag of chips. I would never recommend or go to this place again. read more
