We were driving from NOLA to Austin and had high end dinner reservations in both cities so we just wanted Good but Quick BBQ for our lunch stop. We passed all kinds of fast-bbq chains but found this singular joint via fellow Yelpers. Yay! We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and the ribs and sausage entree. In hindsight I should have (always do) requested light sauce or on the side because all too often (as was the case here) it is sugary and dripping in excess. The pulled pork was 5-stars despite being soaked in bbq sauce. The surprising part was there was easily 1/2 lb of meat between the little round buns. The sausages were equally incredible... homemade and you could tell because the large casings were nearly impossible to bite through but inside was a lightly packed crumble of outstanding meat and spices. We ended up just sliding or squeezing the ground meat out of the two casings. Fortunately, no bbq sauce inside the casing so the meat was able to sing on its own. The lone disappointment were the ribs - there were only 4 and they were not especially warm nor tender. I was expecting fall-off-the-bone and these resembled ribs that had cooked for 2-3 hours but needed another 2 hours to be "done." You order at the window and there's an outdoor/covered picnic-like room about 40 feet away. There is no indoor seating. While flies can get into that open room (no door) it wasn't annoying at this time of year. Parking is easy in their private lot and everything was nicely packaged since every order is essentially to-go. read more

No trip home feels complete without stopping at Broussard's BBQ. Not only is the food incredible, but it also brings a great sense of nostalgia, especially seeing that familiar green building. This is a little BBQ stand off the road. There isn't really any place to eat there on the property so everything will be packaged to go. I ordered the meat plate with sausage and ribs. It comes with 2 sides, white bread and pickles and onion. The sausage is different than what you would find around other places in Texas. It is really juicy. They are unique and really tasty. I have been going to Broussard's for decades. Since middle school I believe. Whenever I fly to TX and I can go home for a visit, I always stop at Broussard's. On this particular visit, I stopped to order links; Sixteen to be exact. Yes, sixteen because I recalled their links being the best in town and I wanted to take a lot of meat back to DC with me. The links were about $6 each which I thought was absurd. I later noticed on their website they sold a dozen for like $55 and 1/2 a dozen for like $30. When I inquired about the price I saw on-line, they told me the website was wrong. I looked at the sign outside the building and it showed the same items with a slight $5-$10 increase. So then I inquired about those prices. I was told the sign, displaying the food items, has the wrong pricing. So I am like OK. The Manger, and maybe owner, who could hear me from the kitchen chimed in said, he does not even have a key on the register for a dozen, nor a 1/2 dozen. Mind blown!!! I took my links and later flew back to DC. I heated up the 1st link. Let me say this, a plate full of grease. I am beyond disappointed with this place. The owner of this business is a thief! I ordered 2 dozen frozen links to be mailed to me in Oakland calif. in August of this year. I paid $175.00 dollars for the links and $70.00 dollars for the ups postage. I received a text from ups that the box had been damaged and all contents were thrown away! I contacted Leonard Broussard, the owner, he said the box was not damaged, that UPS ate the links, after contacting him several times, he took two months, to finally send me the money back for the links, but would not reimburse me for the postage, saying it was not his fault! The law clearly states the seller is responsible for the package until it is delivered! Once delivered it is the responsibility of the recipient! This is clearly a very unethical business owner! Boudin! Can't get it where I live so I can't compare it to other boudin. Do I like it? Hell yes! Boudin is a cajun rice pork mixture for people reading this from out of town. They specialize in it. They also do BBQ. Their BBQ had the standard flavor BBQ I expect for Huston and surrounding areas. They do cook the BBQ right so no disappointment there. This is a place to pick up your food and go only. Yes, they have a few picnic tables to eat at but who in the hell wants to sit outside in this god awful humid hot area expect a native. This place has some of the best BBQ around. I've been here a few times now and have never been disappointed. This most recent time I went I got the sliced beef sandwich and some potato salad. My husband got a 2-meat combo of ribs and link sausage. My sandwich was tasty! Had a good authentic BBQ flavor. I usually don't get potato salad from just anywhere because it usually is never as good as homemade. Broussard's potato salad to my surprise was really good. I'm unsure if they make it from scratch, but I would definitely get it again. My husband's ribs were tender and delicious and the sausage tastes like it is made from scratch. He also got green beans and baked beans which were really good. They tasted like your southern style sides that were homemade and seasoned well. Prices are decent for the food you get. You won't go hungry. They also have some really good single serving pies. But you have to get them earlier in the day because often in the evening they run out. This is a long building that you pull up to and order or you call in your order. It is not really the place to dine in because there is no where to sit (meaning you don't "walk in" anywhere). I came here during my road trip from Los Angeles to New Orleans. We were looking to enjoy some authentic Texan smoked BBQ. We had some in San Antonio which was a bit of a let down. But then we got hungry as we neared Beaumont and boy was it the perfect time!! For around $6 each, I got a 2 meat combo and went with the beef and ribs while my co-driver got the rib and links. NEVER in my life have I had the most delicious, fall off the bone and PERFECTLY SMOKED ribs before. The sauce was also divine. The beef on the other hand was a shredded brisket and it too was top of the line. You could tell the links my friend had were made from scratch. It was very meaty and tasted fresh. I personally dont like sausages but this sausage was another world. In addition, the saying that everything is bigger in Texas is true. The portions we received for the $6 we paid, we wouldn't even get for $10 back in California. Now this may sound like an over-glorified review but believe me when I say that this is one of (if not) the BEST BBQ in the continental US. It shows when there are a bunch of locals lining up for it in the hot 95 degree sun. Maybe they were used to the heat but I wasn't.
