I had all sorts of issues with my car recently and brought it here. It's a small personable shop, friendly guys, timely, considerate and fair. They went above & beyond for me and weren't out to just make a quick buck off of me. As a woman who knows very little about cars I am very appreciative when it comes to business etiquette such as theirs. They did a great job, it's running well and didn't break the bank. As I mentioned before, they are a really nice group of guys. Mike was a sweetheart and a dog lover/rescuer too.. great mechanic and an animal lover.. how can you beat that?! (always a bonus in my book!) I rarely come across a garage where I feel I would be a return customer but would come back here in a heartbeat if I ever have any more car problems. They come highly recommended. If you are in NJ this place is definitely worth coming to for any car needs. and yes 5 stars!! Great service is deserving of great reviews. :)

I went there and told them I needed a new tire. The nice gentleman at the counter asked to look at it, and turns out it's superficial, tire is fine. Any other place would just replace it and try to sell me 3 more! My dad once got a crazy estimate on his car and we brought it to American auto. He didn't need half the work and the price was less than 1/3 of the quote he had gotten. I very highly recommend them. They play the long game in business and are not out for the quick buck. Hence they have the loyalty of our entire family! Again, highly recommend them!

Your choice really is to either pay for the diagnostic or pay them for the parts and labor. You don't know what the parts and labor are going to cost and even if you can't afford it, they will still charge you for the diagnostic. I don't think I will ever use them again and don't recommend them.
