We checked with a few different landscaping companies. Hearn seemed to offer the best overall package of design/layout and work, and their pricing was reasonable. We started working with them (getting estimates and a plan) around mid-August and got onto their schedule for early October. We had to arrange for a separate company to update and re-arrange some of the lawn's sprinkler system before Hearn could do their work. Once that was complete (in September), Hearn came out shortly afterwards. They performed all the work in about 3.5 days. This included scraping our back yard and about 1/3 of our front yard, delivering mulch and river rock for some areas, extending drain pipes in 3 spots, laying Zoisa sod in the scraped and graded areas, and then adding some decorative planting in one area. I delayed doing a review until we had a chance to see the sod grown in and actually become a lawn, as opposed to pieces of sod. That has occurred as we move into the middle of summer, so I am more confident in rating Hearn's work. Overall, we are quite satisfied and would work with them again. They provided a plan and then worked to that plan. There were no surprises later.

They cleared scrubby plant debris and killed vines climbing the trees. Then, they spread several cu yds of topsoil & garden loam, and a top layer of about 3 inches of mulch. They redefined the landscape bed edges and installed 3 pallets of zoysia to fill in with my existing grass. They did an excellent, detailed job with all parts of the project, were professional and respectful, and a good value for the price. They cleaned up afterwards, and did everything that they initially agreed upon. Thanks to them I can now enjoy my garden without the risk of getting poison ivy! My grass and flower beds are beautiful! Since this was a large project (3 full days to complete), I got 4 estimates, which ranged in price, method and scope. AJ had offered a couple of options which would reduce the price, but we agreed that the final project would be the best to rid the property of the Poison Ivy and English Ivy. I would highly recommend AJ for both large and small landscape jobs. He has an excellent work ethic and a good eye for detail. I will also have him back next year to do some additional work in the front.

The branches of the trees were hitting our power lines - they even pulled the siding away from the house last year during a windstorm. Repairing that siding was very costly. Also, finding someone to do it was extremely challenging! The power company does not assist you with problematic trees on private property. 2/5 stars 3 Climbers Tree Service did solid work on the…read moreactual grading and sod laying. The yard leveling looked great and the sod was laid well. That's where the good part ends. After the sod was down, no one told us how to care for it, no watering schedule, no feeding instructions. We also had to ask them to return to trim the sod back from where it was laid up onto the tree trunks which still has not been done. The bigger issue was a fencing job we'd discussed as follow-up work. Communication basically stopped for weeks. I told them 3-4 separate times to just order the fence, and it kept getting drawn out with no clear reason why. Never got a real update without chasing them down. Good crew for the hands-on landscaping work, but the follow-through and communication need serious improvement before I'd hire them again or recommend them for anything beyond a single, self-contained job. Honestly, if not for the crew's work ethic on the actual labor, this review would have scored much lower.

Their rep who stopped by listened to what we wanted and made helpful recommendations. We decided to go with them. Scheduling took a couple of weeks, mostly due to weather. Obviously rain and very cold temperatures will affect when they can do the work. However they were great about keeping in contact and trying to pick the earliest practical date. They arrived in the window specified and did all the work as planned in about 6 hours (that varies per job, obviously). This included removing 3 older Bradford pear trees, cutting down a couple of tall pines that were closer to our house than desired, and trimming back a cherry tree and a crape myrtle. They also cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. Pricing seemed fair. I would definitely call them again if we needed more tree work done.

I just had my back yard resolved last year so did not want any damage done to it. I chose King mainly because they use a large crane, not a bucket truck. The crane was situated where it could extend the boom arm out a large distance and was use to sling the large tree sections to and then hoisted around to my driveway. Never touching my sod. I highly recommend these guys. Very professional. Cleanup was a ten plus. They even used a large gas powered lawn vacuum machine to make sure everything was removed.
