Our back yard does not get enough sun to support Bermuda grass, and the lawn was suffering as a result. There were areas that were starting to erode. We checked with a few different landscaping companies. Hearn seemed to offer the best overall package of design/layout and work, and their pricing was reasonable. We started working with them (getting estimates and a plan) around mid-August and got onto their schedule for early October. We had to arrange for a separate company to update and re-arrange some of the lawn's sprinkler system before Hearn could do their work. Once that was complete (in September), Hearn came out shortly afterwards. They performed all the work in about 3.5 days. This included scraping our back yard and about 1/3 of our front yard, delivering mulch and river rock for some areas, extending drain pipes in 3 spots, laying Zoisa sod in the scraped and graded areas, and then adding some decorative planting in one area. I delayed doing a review until we had a chance to see the sod grown in and actually become a lawn, as opposed to pieces of sod. That has occurred as we move into the middle of summer, so I am more confident in rating Hearn's work. Overall, we are quite satisfied and would work with them again. They provided a plan and then worked to that plan. There were no surprises later. read more

My wife and I lost almost all of our grass on our front and on parts of our side yards because several of the now 20 year old trees planted there were blocking the needed sun light for the grass to grow. We literally had a reddish brown, eroded, Georgia clay colored yard. After removal of the several trees which had caused our problem, we interviewed several landscaping companies to provide the necessary design, grading and installation of sod on the entirety of our front and parts of our side yards. After meeting with Stewart of Hearn Landscape, it became obvious that we wanted to hire Hearn. Stewart was extremely professional, knowledgeable and easy to work with. He explained every detail of the job including the grading of the areas, the grinding of all tree stumps and roots, the design and use of mulch around existing trees and other areas, and he told us the name and qualifications of the Hearn crew leader who would be overseeing and directing the crew performing the job. Prior to the commencement of the job, I spoke with Matthew, the crew leader, by telephone, and was extremely impressed by him in all respects. When the job began (on time), I met Matthew and Trevor (Matthew's second in command on the job), and was immediately reassured that the job would be performed to perfection. Both my wife and I were not disappointed. Matthew, Trevor and the entire crew were FANTASTIC. The grading, root removal, stump grinding, extensive preparation of the soil for planting of sod and placement of mulch were exemplary! Thereafter, the sod was installed with perfection, the mulch was placed, our irrigation system was checked for proper watering, and the entire area, including concrete drive, was left spotless! The bottom line is that my wife and I couldn't be more pleased with the results! From start to finish, Hearn Landscape exceeded our expectations in every way. I can not say enough good things about Hearn Landscape. We contacted them last summer because we had a problem with water running under our house. They completely lazer-graded our backyard to divert the water and installed new sod. We also wanted to create our very own backyard retreat. So, Sam, James, Pablo, and the rest of the crew gave us our dream outdoor space. Where there was nothing but an old wood deck, we now have a beautiful private space lined with trees, a large paver patio, and a stone walkway leading to our firepit area. They also widened our driveway and planted bushes around the front and side yards. We hired Hearn to grade and landscape the yard. The areas they graded now have so much standing water that the sod has rotted, and several of the plants they planted in other areas have died. They do not stand behind their work so we have to hire another company to do the job correctly. read more

Grading and installation of sod was ok at best. They overestimated on the amount of sod needed to fill the space, then dumped the leftover in the back on my neighbor's property that I had to move. I was able to salvage some of it and added it to the lawn. read more

Dan and crew put in two retaining walls for me, replacing the rotted timbers that were installed in Woodcreek in 1989. His crew arrived on time, did the job quickly and left the place looking great. Refreshing to have a contractor do what they said they would do on time, on budget and leaving the place immaculate. We're already looking forward to our next project and having sod installed. If I could give zero stars, I would! Dan was hired to grade, sod, and do a small amount of landscaping. The sod Dan and crew installed had ARMY WORMS - which destroyed the sod. The solution Dan and his brother had was for ME to hire a grass company to treat the lawn. The lawn needed multiple treatments to kill the army worms and larva. Then the grass was so stressed, I've had to continue treatments. The yard still looks terrible. The grass is completely dead in several areas. The small amount of viable grass I have is very thin - and this is after over a year of treatment! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! They should have replaced the infected sod. These guys are no better than crooks! read more

I called Hearn landscaping because every tree in my yard needed pruning. I called several other companies for quotes as well but felt like their quote was very reasonable & the guy I spoke with seemed knowledgeable & friendly. I was really happy with the result as my yard truly looked amazing!!! They were in & out in like 4 hours & took away all the branches!! Hearn Landscape installed emerald zoysia sod and removed some trees in our steep and badly eroded back yard. The expert crew used bobcats to smooth it out, then covered it with sod and gave it a good soaking, all in one long day of hard work. It looked great on day one, and two weeks later (and lots of water) it is greener and growing nicely. First experience with sod, glad we chose Hearn, thank you! If you appreciate a lack of leadership, poor communication, no follow through on items requested/discussed during initial consultation, nothing in writing about policies or plan sketches-just spray paint all over the yard, poor coordination of landscape procedures, no warranties to replace or refund money for plants that have died within two weeks of planting even after record July rainfall and customer daily watering as needed (one was even pulled out and discarded by crew foreman while work was still going on) then Hearn Landscape is definitely the company for you to deal with. They will tell you that I only needed to communicate with them and they would be happy to work with me, but it is difficult to communicate when you write down what you want, show them and they either don't do it, make the problem worse, or only do it half way. Fortunately, 3 other neighbors saw how this job was handled and they will not be dealing with them in the future. My vision of what I wanted and was willing to pay to have done has been nothing like what I ended up with after 2 and a half months of waiting. read more

We priced 3 different companies to mow our 5 acres, and Sam Hearn came in with the most competitive price. His crew is always professional and does an excellent job. Sam Hearn is a great resource too when you need other bigger jobs like tree trimming. He recommended a tree service that did an outstanding job.
