I really wanted to like this place but they failed me on the cut. :( First off, in terms of taking precautions for COVID, this place was fantastic. They sent me detailed information on what to expect and their safety protocols. I avoided getting a haircut because of COVID but this place definitely made me feel comfortable and safe. I made a last minute appointment so there were only Creative Directors available to cut my hair. Despite the high cost I agreed to it because I figured it would be worth it and so the receptionist booked me in with Daniel. I actually hadn't cut my hair in over a year and decided to donate 10+" (my second time doing this, so I knew the process). The salon was also pretty well versed and suggested I bring a ziplock bag with me to store the hair after it's cut. Everything went super smoothly which is why I feel terrible to even write a bad review. I really enjoyed the conversations I had with Daniel but that's where he may have gotten ahead of himself. He told me that as a Creative Director, it's up to him to understand what the client wants through the conversations. So there was obviously a disconnect because the cut he gave me was NOT what I wanted. I have South Asian curly/wavy somewhat thick hair. And for the last 2 decades, my hair has always been cut in layers. But Daniel for some reason didn't pay attention to that and gave me a shoulder length blunt cut. That said, the length I have no problem with because it's going to a very deserving cause, but a blunt cut? Why would any skilled Creative Director think I wanted a blunt cut with my thick, curly bottom-heavy hair? Layers is really the only solution, unless he expected me to want to pin straighten my hair everyday. While he was blow drying my hair was actually when I realized he gave me a blunt cut, at the time I thought maybe he was blow drying it to then dry cut it (which I've had done before and is very common with curly hair) but no. His next client arrived and was waiting in the seat next to me and I just didn't want to stick around any longer, I thought it might look better after I washed it myself and let it air dry, but no. I also didn't have time to go back to see if he would "fix" it. Anyway, I gave myself 2 months to see if the cut would possibly grow on me, nope, still hate it. So I had to share my experience and disappointment. As much as I like Daniel as a person, it doesn't seem like he knows hair as well as he thinks he does.

From the moment you walk in through the door you're met with an air of professionalism and style that embodies the Axcess Salon name. I have been coming to this salon for at least ten years and that alone should say something about the quality and service the Axcess Team provides. I would trust no other salon with my hair and colouring services (and I have had some crazy colour styles in the past!). The staff are always polite and attentive, not to mention extremely friendly and welcoming and I always walk out with ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, stunning and smooth hair. We called in and we asked if they can do balayage and they said yes so we booked an appointment. When we arrived, Daniel is a very nice guy and has a good sense of humour. He really knows how to cut hair really well and gives you opinions and options. His assistant however, I don't think she knows how a balayage works. I wanted a dark red balayage ombre. I showed the assistant pictures of how I wanted the colour of my hair to be like but when it was done, my hair didn't have a gradient. Also the inside of my hair didn't have much of a transition from going black to dark red. In my opinion I think this salon is a great place to get a hair cut but if you are going to get colour done such as, a balayage it's best to look for another place.

Long story short rays cut was a mess with uneven sides corners and front. In fact that's probably why he used so much gel to push down our hair. Well - pictures speaks louder than words. Not only that but the gel that this ray guy used smelled like sh**. Literally smelled like glue and completely over applied it. This guy will truely destroy this salon. I am not happy and was extremely pissed on the way out. You can't even fix it. This is the last time I along with my friend go there. We were basically set up. He is patient, meticulous and listens to what you want and makes suggestions on how to improve the cut! I can say this, after being to a number of different barbers in Canada and the US, he by far gives the best fades! The prices are reasonable and every cut comes with a hot towel treatment and shampoo...did I mention they offer free coffee too! They have special deals daily including black mask, and gold mask so if you want to treat yourself and come out looking fresh definitely check them out!! She is very knowledgeable and knows what does and doesn't work for my hair. I've had almost every natural hair colour from red to blonde, highlights to chocolate brown and it always looks phenomenal. I never trusted someone doing my hair until I found her, being told plenty of times how I should do my hair vs. getting what I envisioned. Gone are the days I need to bring in pictures of styles I like or search to find the colour I want, Carrie hits it out of the park every time. I almost think she can read my mind! It was easy to book online, they're pretty booked up right now because of the COVID backlog but so is every other salon in the city. It took about 3 hours for the perm process as well as cut and hair treatment. Once I told Yuuki what I wanted, he had really good style suggestions and I'm so happy with the result - it's exactly what I wanted. He was super attentive during the appointment and explained each process of the perm and how long each waiting period would be. I appreciated this a lot!
