Upon entering, it is a very small shop and I don't know if it was the owner or what... But he literally kept asking me if I needed help. And I told him I was all set. And he kept watching me the entire time. And it got really stressful. I'm a content creator and was in the middle of planning recipes and because they have a small selection. I was seeing what I could work with. But it's like nobody is allowed to think and take a second. Then his son came out and asked me if I needed help... and I said no thank you. And so the son just stared at me. So frustrated, I purchased just one bottle as I felt uncomfortable and didn't want to be in the store anymore. Before I even fully made it to the register, he's asking me for id... almost as if I wasn't of age (which I get often, but especially if I'm taking my time). The son was monitoring my transaction as his dad rang me up. I will never be back.

Good: selection is great, it's organized very well, and if you collect high end wine, you can do well here. They also have high end dinners (with the food coming from their restaurant, La Campania, located just down the street) where they bring in a wine maker and pair the wines with food. It's fabulous! Average: while the store is very open about being Italian wine focused, that's tough to swallow as it's super, super narrow in focus. I love Italian wine but I rarely go out of my way to buy just Italian wine and that has held me from shopping here more. The prices are local store retail type prices. Not tons of value. Bad: the staff is often pretty inattentive.

It is warm and inviting. Not sure what the tables in the center of the store are for, but they were stocked with books on wine and there were wine glasses, so I'm assuming it was for your own education or during tastings. The staff seemed a little pre-occupied with bustling about the store. It is a new store, so I'm going to forgive them this time for not being friendly and asking us if we needed any help or even introducing themselves. In fairness, one person did offer a suggestion which was nice, but the other walked past us fairly briskly without so much as a "hi". Hopefully, next time I stop back in to tell them about the wine I purchased they'll be willing to chat it up. Pricing was reasonable to high end, I saw bottles from $13.99-$56.

I've had just about everything on the menu and it's all been top notch Unfortunately, the rest of the store is not handled with the best customer service. The old dudes at the front are as rude to customers as they are to each other. Snarky remarks, condescending tones, and poor customer service is the norm at Marty's. The cashiers barely open their mouths. I've never heard a "thank you" or a "you're welcome" in all my time there. They barely can mutter the price of your items. I'm sorry if dodgeball was tough for them in high school but I still expect some courtesy. Just last week I watched one of the old dudes (the one who looks like he came back from a Sam Elliott look alike contest) bump into a customer and not apologize. Not only that but the customer who I would assume is a decent human being apologized to the bearded loser and the bearded loser had some snarky remark under his breath. Marty's is a good sized store and has good variety as a result. The managers and cashiers however make it really hard to continue supporting this business

For example, I was in a couple months ago and had a great time talking to the gentleman (older, clean-shaven) working. He pointed me in the direction of a couple neat bottles I wouldn't normally have thought about, and his recommendations clearly came from knowledge and understanding what I was interested in. I went back tonight (Friday November 7), though, and despite two employees (a heavier man with a goatee and a woman with bangs and glasses, both middle-aged) working, I was in the store for ten minutes looking around without either of them saying a word to me, despite both of them coming within five feet of me. Not a "how are you?" "can I help you find anything?" "I'll be right with you". Literally nothing. There was only one other customer in the store in that time -- I put my bottles back and walked out. If the owners/managers read this, definitely worth talking to these two -- I've spent plenty here in the past, and customer service this poor was a big turn-off tonight.
