Macy's is my go-to for wine, beer, scotch, any liquid. They have a large craft beer section including locals, as well as the run of the mill Budweisers, Miller Lite, etc. Wines are a generous section with reds, whites, international, and Northeast. I'm a scotch girl though. So my main time here is spent in the scotch aisle. The selection is quite impressive and in case I'm feeling adventurous, there is a man who works there who knows his sh**. I mean it. You say what you're looking for as far as price range/peaty/smoky/smooth, and he's got your back. I'm so sorry, I can't remember his name, but just ask for their scotch guy. read more

I used to go here sometimes when it was Gordon's (their selection was kinda awful there near the end) and have gone here a few times as it is the closest to my home. Macy's has them beat on inventory to be sure. Huge inventory here and the prices are comparable. The parking at Macy's is plentiful (although getting in and out on that busy street can be hairy on busy traffic times). To be honest what makes me give a lower rating is the staff. They aren't particularly friendly. Just kind of "place your liquor on the counter and go." When I've asked about getting new things in stock, they've told me they would check about getting them and then do not. Plus, some of the staff have seemed unkempt. One fella looked stoned out of his gourd and you could smell his body odor across the counter. Granted, that doesn't impact their ability to sell me alcohol, but compared to Dion's where they greet you when you walk in, offer meaningful advice about their wine and spirits and all, it just kind of pales in comparison. Also as a note, I'm sad they pulled down the historic green Glendale sign too when they took over. That was an iconic part of the neighborhood, and they pulled it down so they could put up a white washed Macy's sign. It was just sad to see that piece of the neighborhood disappear and look more like a strip mall. read more

What a fantastic store with great service! A friend and I have been doing IPA tastings for the last year - I know kind of cliche but hey its COVID times. Last evening my wife asked me to get a particular cooking sherry for a holiday recipe - none of my usual Lexington stores had it. Suddenly remembered Macys so went there. Not only did they have the cooking sherry...but oh my gosh the quantity of quality IPA?! And the pricing is excellent. Clearly, this will be my go to store. read more

Macy's opened in place of the old Gordon's liquor which was bare in terms of its selection. This place though has the most amazing selection of liquors I've seen in the burbs. Seriously, this place is like candyland for cocktail enthusiasts! They carry even the hard to find stuff such as chartreuse, creme violette, cynar, you name it. The prices are great too, I've paid more for some of these items in other stores. If you're in Waltham make sure you pay Macy's a visit, you'll be surprised just how good it is! read more

Macy's is my neighborhood store. I am used to NH stores but the Lexington St store pretty much matches those prices plus has an incredible selection of hard to find items. While I mostly buy boxed wine, it is hard to believe that any other store has more overall variety. read more

I've been a bunch of liquor stores in the area and this one is my new favorite. Every store has a different selection, this one had the biggest and best selection and lots of items to buy and try. I was looking for Old Camp and a small bottle of Chartreuse here and I guess I looked a bit lost so someone who worked there asked if I needed help. I told him what I was looking for and he told me that they only had the big bottle of chartreuse and no old camp but offered to help me find something else. We walked up and down the whiskey aisle and he helped me pick out Wild Turkey American Honey which I ended up loving! Although I didn't find what I was originally looking for (those are not the most commonly sold liquors), I really appreciate the great service I got here! read more

On November 28th, I was in Macy's with my wife to purchase some items for a party we were having the next day. We selected a few things including a bottle of wine and an assortment of beer. One of the beers was marked on the shelf $9.99 for a 4-pack. However, when I got to the register, they cashier tried to charge me $9.99 PER BOTTLE. I pointed out the error. The manager then came over and said he would not sell me the product for that price, even though it was marked that way. He then took the shelf-tag off, because he KNEW it was a mistake but he still refused to do the right thing. I can't imagine worse customer service. I will never go back there again. Dion's right down the street has the same selection and better service. read more
