Craft Beer gem! Hidden in a plaza, Dion's has an incredible craft beer selection along with lots of liquor options and a notable Non-Alcoholic section! When I visited, Zero Gravity Brewing was having a tasting where the sales rep was so knowledgeable about the brewery, Vermont (where the brewery is located) and beer as a whole. I was over the moon to find this epic collaboration brew from Outer Range Brewing x Tripping Animals x Other Half x Ology and it was incredible! I've been going into the store on Lexington st for many years as well as the one on River st just recently I've stopped into the one on Lexington and on two occasions was looking to buy a 12 pack of Mikes Lemonade they didn't have 12 's so I grabbed 2 six packs which I've done many many time at all of the stores the women manager would not sell to me at a 12pk price which I have done many times at the other stores.... today I walked in to buy a 12pk and it rang up $17.99 but I bought one on river st the other day for $14.99 and the same manager would not honor the price of $14.99 and they are all owned by the same owner, her response was they have one left at that price on River st if I'd like to go buy it there.... nice cust service I will never step foot into another Dions again.... I really love this place. I've been coming here for about two years and don't understand some of the problems folks are talking about with the homophobic staff member from 2012. Maybe they fired that guy, as the staff here are always super friendly to my boyfriend and I. The prices are good, they will get special things in if you ask them, and Holly always says hello to me and remembers our names. Their tastings and events are amazing, and the staff are always so helpful and make me smile when I am in there. We actually drive out here instead of going to Macy's because of the personal service. Bonus: massive walk-in beer cooler. As for the ID thing some Yelpers are commenting on, when I first moved to MA from Minnesota they were strict about checking ID's. That would have been 2014 or so. And frankly, I appreciated that. I don't understand in this day and age if you are driving around without ID, trying to buy alcohol in a state with strict liquor control laws AND in a place where its posted what they will and won't accept why you would get angry that you look "old enough" not to be ID'd anymore. Sure, it was awkward the first time when I had to leave and get the two forms of ID (because my license hadn't been changed yet to Mass) but I understand them not wanting to lose their liquor license because kids are trying to pass off bad out of state ID's. They check my ID most times I come in even tho they know me as a matter of policy, and I'm good with that. It's called being an adult folks. read more

TRUE STORY! Anyways, the day I turned 21-I drove on up to the plaza 2 minutes from my house.....parked right in front of D&L ....took a deep breath, walked in and acted like I had been buying liquor forever.... I was super SUPER nervous as the employees were eying my EVERY move.......damn people. I'm legal. What is the dealio? I actually was sweating as I was carrying up my Mike's Hard Lemonade. "Yeah, I'll have a pack of Newport LIghts too".........{I was a rebel} "I.D Please" [Goes to whip out ID and it flies out of my sweaty hand boomerang style, then richochetes off the cashier and slides in between the cash register and panel. FOR GOOD] Yeah, so I didn't get to go out that night. .. As I got older, my palette for liquor progressed and I didn't turn into much of a lush (thankful for both things)...but every time I enter a liquor store, I still get nervous and feel like I am doing something wrong. -The workers here are always extremely helpful and super nice. -There is a walk in beer fridge. -The selection is excellent. -They always check IDs, so make sure not to forget yours (and the friend that walks in with you). -Keep an eye out for the Annual Wine Tasting (it happened last weekend). There were around 80 wines to try ranging from around $10 a bottle to pricey. It was packed, but the event also had free apps. and a super deal that if you bought a case (could be mixed too), you got 20% off and I think it was 30% off with 2 cases. Came here again expecting the same service, the bubble man was there -- The same cashier was there but today was a bit different....he was nice, well not nice it was just clear management was watching him so he had to be on his best behavior. It was still off putting as every encounter with him as been not the greatest. He asked for my ID and then the bubbly man said I was all set because he remembered me(which the cashier should have as well but whatever) HOW NICE -- then the cashier for the first time asked for my Dions card. I literally walking out laughing because it just was so random this guy was nice. My sister was in the car waiting and saw me cracking up to myself. I got in and began to tell her about my experience and how now he was nice. The bubbly man came out and and introduced himself as the HR Manager and explained how he saw my review and personally wanted to apologize for the service. He also said he explained to the cashier how his attitude could have been perceived as rude because he didn't understand why he got a bad review. As he spoke he would wave to everyone entering in and out of the store as if he knew them all....very sweet and really made up for the poor service. Alright, I admit it, I'm a lush! They seem to have what I need. The guys that work here are super friendly. They've helped me many a times in trying to pick out a wine, whether it be for a dinner party I'm going to or someone's birthday. They even gave me decorative wine bottle bag for my birthday wine to give to the person instead of having to go out of my way to the Hallmark store. And you can get snacks! Rude cashiers. I don't think it's cool to "conveniently" come outside to smoke a cigarette and "casually" look over to my car. Oh, and then "coincidentally" come back into the store when I go in too. I have nothing to hide and I'm well above the legal drinking age. If you're so suspicious, get one of those machines that scans an ID's authenticity, and/or have someone on constant patrol outside. I visit the store at least once a week and find the staff to be informative and helpful. Today I went with a question about Champagne which I know nothing about, but was for a gift. I had never seen the female salesperson or consultant before. She was in fact helping another person when I asked for help. After he left- she totally ignored me and proceeded to help another man. I waited 15 minutes and left. I drove to Busa's in Lexington and spent 200. Dollars after being blown off by this rude person. Won't be back. Clearly a middle age woman was nothing compared to the men she was eager to help. I hope Peter gets rid of her. I am a Bentley student who has gone to this D&L location for over a year now. Each time I go to D&L I am prepared with my my NH drivers license and 2 forms of backup ID (as per the policy) and they insist on perpetually and harshly yelling ID, ID, ID to me as if I am not handing it directly to them. Additionally anyone in your party will be asked for their ID as if it was a wild west shootout and they needed to stick 'em up. This place is garbage. Basically... I never feel rushed, I feel like they really go out of their way and take time to help you. The person who manages the craft beers is especially nice (Mike) and has improved the craft beer selection greatly over the past year. Wine experts are also great. I live less than a mile from here so this is a fairly regular stop for me when I'm looking to restock the liquor cabinet. To be honest, I'm surprised to know they consider themselves a discount store. I've never noticed the prices any lower than other local competitors. On the other hand, the staff here is AMAZINGLY helpful and knowledgeable. A few weeks ago I stopped in for a 6 pack - husband told me to surprise him so I wanted to find something new he hasn't tried. The man that helped me really knew his stuff!!! In the past, when I ask for help deciding on a product the employee just reads the label to me (uh, thanks for that!) but these people will tell you way more than you thought you could know about the beer/wine. read more

I stop here once in a while mostly for some beer. I usually don't have anything in mind but always find something worth trying. They have craft beer as well as the Bud Lights. It's usually not busy when I go (around 7-8PM) so I paying is always a breeze. They seem to always have 2 people working behind the registers. read more

This place does have a wide selection of everything, wine, booze and beer. plus fruity drinks, like your arbor mist and mikes hard everything. The staff is normally polite and do know their stuff. But I have never seen them go out of their way to help people. I have even overheard one person who according to him worked there 15 years and knew the customer was wrong and what she was looking for didn't exist. (it did but from what I've found isn't distributed in Mass.) The snack section is nice, but I can drive over to shaws or hanaford and get the same stuff for WAY cheaper. One of the downfalls is on a Saturday night the strip mall they're in looks abandoned and dark, gives the store a seedy feel to it. I used to think all liquor stores were the same until I came here. They opened my eyes to what it truly means to provide alcoholic beverages to people of legal drinking age. Really what makes them super awesome is their staff. At this point, I think I know about half of them on a first name basis as it is now the ONLY packy I'll go to. Their selection is good, their walk in fridge provides you with all kinds of icy brews and you can even get a keg on the spot. I find them to be rather unpleasant folks. I went there for a year and a half and found that their attitude lacked the enthusiasm required to be in sales but it was convenient and choice is OK. It was it for me when I went there a couple months ago to buy a couple bottles of wine and they had a tasting. I didn't know driving there but the sign on the door said it started at 4pm. I went to the tasting table (it was 4:45) with a guy who was standing there doing nothing and basically "shooed" me away saying it was at 5. I pointed to the sign but he just looked elsewhere. I go get my wine, and when I come back (literally 3 minutes later), the guy is asking a woman if she would like to try some wine... Well, I dropped my two bottles of wine on the self right there and drove to Macy's liquor, 5 minutes away. Much better choice; friendly folks carrying your stuff to the car.
