Calamari

Our anniversary dinner at our favorite restaurant. Absolutely loved it We always have great service and great food. Love the atmosphere.

I have been going past this place for almost 60 years (it is on the road from my parents home to my uncles and now near my office) at least it seems like it has always been there. Today was the day. It looks ok from the road, like a little country inn (which it was before the city grew around it). Inside was very nice, very cozy and extremely clean. The waitress (Chelsey) was very prompt, professional and friendly based on the conversation she had with two older (and slightly loud) gentleman she might be part of the ownership team but if I heard correctly the Inn was taken over in 2000 and Chelsey doesn't look much over 24 so maybe not. I had the chili which was very good for restaurant chili, and a magnificent Greek salad with chicken that I could not finish. Was very pleased with my visit and now have a new spot by the office that I sorely needed. Next team lunch will be here. I should add the chili (which just about filled me up) and salad ran $26, $7 for the chili (worth it), $12 for the salad (a bargain) and $6 for the chicken (worth it).

I have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years. This is my go to for prime rib, it is very tender and flavorful, cooked to perfection. They also have dinosaur bones which are the bones from the prime rib that they roast with bbq sauce. It is the best, by far, then any steak houses in Macomb County. They also have the best onion blossom and french onion soup I have ever had. I love their raspberry vinaigrette as well. You get a lot food for the price with many other options then steak. During the holidays they put on an amazing all you can eat buffet.

My Dad loves this place, so I'll periodically make the trek and meet him for the buffet brunch. There isn't anything outstanding about the place, but there's nothing awful about it, either. Brunch is buffet-style, with most of the fare served in warming trays, such as bacon, sausage, hash browns, French toast, and lunchie items such as a macaroni dish, steamed veggies, breaded fish. There's an "omelette station", where you can choose the fixin's, and your omelette is cooked before you. This is what I usually have. There are also soup and salad options, and usually a beef option under the warming lamp at the omelette station. Service is fine, again nothing outstanding... but Dad is super full and super happy, smiling at me from across the booth, and that's what matters :)

Friendly service. Diverse menu. The fall German menu is enjoyable and I always look forward to the apple strudel.

My wife ordered the braised port wine short ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables, and she really enjoyed her meal. For drinks, she had two Flirtinis and a Raspberry Smash, and she loved all three. I ordered the filet mignon cooked medium with crispy garlic herb potatoes, but I ended up receiving the prime ribeye instead, and it was cooked somewhere between medium well and well done with garlic mashed potatoes. It wasn't exactly what I ordered, so that was a little disappointing. The steak was okay, but it definitely wasn't the meal I was expecting. The drinks were a highlight though. I had two Old Fashioneds and "The Elvis." The Elvis was interesting -- almost like an espresso martini with its own twist -- and I really enjoyed it. The Old Fashioneds were also very good. A nice touch at the end of the night was that they brought my wife out a complimentary slice of cheesecake for her birthday, which we appreciated and made the experience feel a little more personal. Even with the mix-up on my entrée, we still had a good overall experience and would come back again. Good atmosphere, solid drinks, and thoughtful service. I'd give it 4/5 stars.

The main server was helpful and gave good feedback on our choices. We were very pleased with our entrees which we shared. Flavorful and filling. The presentation was casual yet pleasing. I was happy to be able to split the tacos between shrimp and fish. So I didn't need to choose. The side slaw was wonderful. My husband enjoyed his pulled chicken which had lots of flavor but not too spicy. The tab was just under $40 with no alcohol; reasonable for this time. It's perfect with good weather when the patio is open. The ambience indoors looked fine though it seemed like it could be noisy. We look forward to our next visit

Ambiance was great as usual we love the place. My chicken strips came out without my fries and were, sorry I eat things together, so it was disappointing to be told your fries are on their way and by the time they arrived my chicken strips were getting cold, and the fries were to hot to eat. Place was more than half empty so I couldn't blame it on "We got slammed" visit on April 13th was great but two of our guests had to send their food back, I believe it was the mac and cheese. Sorry but when I pay close to $14.00 for a glass of well wine, I expect the food to be "top shelf" and the service to be 2nd to none simply because of the KRUSE name.

We were seated immediately and it was so empty because it was 4, before dinner rush. It was very quiet inside which was nice. Our server was super awesome. She got us drinks and bread right away and gave us time to see the menu. We ordered our food and started eating. The bread was very tough which was strange. I don't remember it being so hard. I asked for another bread when she brought out refills. The new one wasn't as tough but it was still hard. I let my husband eat it and he ate some of it but agreed it was tougher than usual. He ordered calamari and ate all of it. He said it is super delicious. The fettucine alfredo we ordered came out. It tasted so amazing. It was so buttery and creamy, a definite improvement from a few years ago. We were very impressed with the food overall. The only issue was the bread. The service was really great as well.

Our server was friendly and attentive. Their signature bread was hot and delicious. We tried the Costa Rican fish and Chicken Marsala. First the green beans were delicious. I really hate it when the veggie side dish is mushy, an after thought or a medley. Portion size good and marsala sauce was yummy. My husband enjoyed his fish. I got their special midnight martini and they shake/mix and pour at your table. Taste and presentation good. My husband got an old fashioned and while it tasted good, zero presentation. The smores cheesecake was delicious and after dinner coffee hot and strong so I was happy! Overall lovely evening.

This is one of those unfortunate instances where I wish I could give a 3.5* rating. Everything was ok, but definitely not great. The place is loud, and way too bright, especially for an intimate experience after 8:30pm or so. We would have loved to stick around for another couple cocktails, if the cocktails and ambience were good, they weren't. The "craft cocktail" ol' fashioned was improperly garnished w/ a whole 1/4 of an orange slice, instead of the peel, it was improperly essenced, and had an improper amount of simple syrup. It was essentially a shot of bourbon with a cherry and an orange peel. Tasted terrible. The drink lacked all of the taste and trappings of the advertised craft "burnt sugar" old fashioned. Additionally, they use a 1/2 of an ice ball, which would not have been offensive, if the rest of the drink was up to par, but as it was, the cocktail seemed cheap and off-putting. 2.0/10 My date ordered a "figgy sweater," a citrusy cocktail with vodka, also off of the "craft cocktails" menu. Her drink had the opposite problem. It tasted like a lemonade with no alcohol at all, or watered down alcohol. She's a fairly lightweight that does not like strong drinks, gets tipsy off of two, and she complained throughout its consumption that the drink seemed weak and not worth ordering another. 2.0/10 We were both interested in another cocktail, but due to the loud nature of the place, the over abundance of light, and the poorly crafted cocktails, we drove to another establishment for our second round. Food ordered: Seafood Chowder - Great job, delicious, ample seafood throughout 9.5/10 Brisket Poutine - Good but it lacked cheese curds and gravy. 7.0/10 Beef tenderloin tips - terrible... the dish came out cold, we ordered the GF option, and the bread substitute was gross. The dish was overly salty, and the beef was way, way over cooked; not even medium well, most of it was well done, and tough; this was $30 wasted, we barely touched it and it's still in the fridge two days later. I'll likely throw it out. 2.0/10 Chicken Fried Lobster - nice dish, I hated the dill, but my date licked it. The dill aside, it was delicious; nice presentation, great tasting waffle, w/ well favored garnishes. However, the dish was barely warm when it came out, the ricotta/cream soaked into the waffle, and it was soggy. If it came out of the kitchen promptly it would have likely been better. 7.0/10 I'd consider ordering the chicken fried waffle again, but bad cocktails will likely keep me away. It's tough to pay $30+ in bad cocktails to accompany a $100+ meal. I'd strongly suggest turning down the lights after 8:30pm or so, and installing some noise canceling/light panels to bring the ceiling height down, quiet the place down some, and make it seem more intimate. The two tables opposite the the kitchen, in the damn hallway to the bathroom, should either be gotten rid of, made into high-tops, or install a lower counter-service along that wall for a "chef's experience." Those tables absolutely suck. We sat at them at our first visit, they tried to sit us there for our 2nd visit, but moved us after our objection. I laughed a bit throughout our meal as the people that were subsequently seated at those tables complained during their meal of the constant bumps, and interruptions that come with the territory. Finally, our waitress did a great job. The food runner was late on a couple of our dishes, resulting in cold food, but the waitress' service seemed great.

Everything started off fine -- she took our drink and appetizer order, and when the drinks arrived, we let her know we were ready to order dinner. About two minutes after placing our order, our salads came out, and maybe 10 minutes later our dinners arrived... but still no appetizer. When she set down my steak, I told her we would just pass on the appetizer at that point. Her response was, "Oh, I forgot." On top of that, my mother's steak was not cooked correctly. We also got our food so quickly that the table next to us -- who had been seated before us -- actually asked how we managed that. I jokingly told him, "Have a server who judges you by what you wear."
