A GLOOMY DAY IN GEORGETOWN
Toya D.

It's always a good time in Georgetown, DC -- and an even better time if/when you can score a decent parking space. There's everything from cobblestone streets, rich architecture, restaurants, markets, shopping, vast nightlife/lounges, waterfront views, and art walks. It's a popular DC tourist town, but don't let that discourage you from checking out the scenery and getting your steps in. __ I eat. @f.hux I thrift. @DCthriftish

One of the most unique neighborhood's in DC with a lot of history and interesting landmarks. Georgetown is a historic neighborhood located off the borders and Potomac River of Washington D.C, with plenty of restaurants, great views, bars, shopping and interesting eating options. It's a neighborhood with loads of old DC culture, trendy vibe & college atmosphere during the nights and is a great place to go walking about and wandering throughout the day. While in this area do check my favorites Sequoia-- great place to eat and grab a drink when enjoying the views of the DC waterfront and landmarks. Also, Chaia --a great little taco place and Baked and Wired --definitely one of the best cupcakes spots in DC. The canal area is also a great place to visit and take a leisure stroll....It's also a great opportunity for photos! :P Actually, the entire neighborhood offers up the perfect scene for photography and Instagram enthusiast alike. There's really a lot of great shopping options in Georgetown as well. There are a number of name brand big-box stores and equally a lot of unique mom& pop shops with great finds. So I would recommend spending the entire day there if time permits to explore the surrounding Georgetown area and it's landmarks; but half a day is enough to give you a quick run of this great neighborhood.

A fun area. Georgetown is DC's oldest neighborhood. It certainly looks like it's old. Besides the overpriced restaurants and shops, you can enjoy the old buildings. This place is bad for cars and good for walking. It has plenty of places to eat. Many restaurants are locally owned. There's a lot that are ethnic and many that are friendly for vegetarians. A lot of places to go here. The best Mexican place is Chiaia Tacos. It also has quite a few bakeries. There's one like every block or so. Getting here from downtown the best way is the DC Circulator bus. It's a lot better than driving. There's not a lot of parking spaces.

One of my favorite areas during my visit to Washington DC. I would love to live here! The main street for shopping and restaurants is M street and Wisconsin. I really enjoyed walking through the canal areas and the side streets to soak in the architecture and quaint shops and restaurants. This area is not close to any Metro stations but it is close to the Waterfront and that is a place I highly recommend to see too.

If there was a large canyon here, it'd be Gorgetown. Whereas if there was a funny monkey hanging out here, it'd be Curious Georgetown. And if it were in Pennsylvania, it'd be Valley-Forgetown. But it's not. So that's that, then. I severely underestimated this area of DC. Of course it is one of the most touristy areas with lots of cute people-watching and it's hard not to enjoy walking around these old streets with the famous Exorcist steps, the beautiful college campus, all kinds of boutiques and overpriced high street shops, and lovely old-style decor. But there is another side to Georgetown that I only discovered the most recent time I visited. And that is all of the secret hidden food gems on the backstreets which aren't a particular secret on Yelp but were secret to me until my most recent visit. Because I don't usually pay attention to touristy areas and stuff with 1,000 reviews. But I was wrong in some of these cases! They are absolutely wonderful! Falafel Inc, which has one of the best missions of any place I've ever eaten at, and some of the best tasting Middle Eastern food, is my top choice. Their Falafel is second to none and all of their sauces are absolutely spectacular. And there is the wonderful District Donuts which is up to the standard of NYC, and Simply Banh Mi which is great for sandwiches and bubble tea, as well as lots of other little gems, which I will continue to explore next time I'm in Georgetown. Parking can be really iffy and traffic sucks, which are the only reasons I almost didn't give it 5.

A real hidden gem of a place to visit in DC. I though it was just the school but it is so much more of an experience. There are mom & pop places as well as bigger stores to shop like Banana Republic, Panera, Georgetown Cupcakes, Dean & DeLuca, and more. We wanted to try some of the local eating and shops since you can eat at Panera any where. Lot of fun walking areas and water to see and hear. Very peaceful and enjoyable to stop at. Love the locks and unique water effects you find walking around. Will be back when I have more time on my next visit to DC

Too bad it was foggy and rainy when I went. However, you can see Virginia right across the high rise overpass. Nice water view to stroll along and admire over. Shops and eateries in its vicinity. A charming neighborhood.

It is so fun to walk up and down M and Wisconsin Streets. Different it is from day to night. Shopping by day. Entertainment by night. The places I try not to miss when I am here are: Hu's Shoes & Hu's Wear, unique boutiques Paul, delicious chocolate croissants The entertainment I choose when in town are: Das & Bodega, Ethiopian & Tapas for dinner Pinstripes & Blues Alley, bocce & jazz Clyde's & Ra Ra Irish Pub, drinks & Harps CHEERS!

So quaint and beautiful.

We were fortunate to have company co-owner Bo as our guide, He took us on an enthusiastic, informative, efficient four-hour tour of the highlights of the American History, Natural History, and Air & Space museum along with a stop at the Smithsonian Sculpture Garden. Bo's personable nature, passionate knowledge of all things Smithsonian plus Washington DC overall made the experience truly exceptional. The customer service provided by DC Insider Tours during my rescheduling throughout the pandemic was also incredible . We also appreciated the detailed day-of-your instructions, including a texted photo of the tour guide we were looking for. Since I live in northern Virginia, I have been able to take many tours of Arlington Cemetery by many companies, but this tour was completely unique. Brenda, our tour guide, did an amazing job of explaining the deep connection of Arlington Cemetery to World War I, the birth of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, why the Tomb is guarded, 24-7, General Robert Pershing, and it was all fantastic, but she also showed us the Gravesite of James Reese Europe, the African American pre-Jazz great who fought for and was injured with the Fighting 369th, nicknamed the Harlem Hellcats. Possible the most amazing story was that of fellow Fighting 369th member Henry Johnson who single handedly took on 20 German Fighters and won, saving the life of his partner who had been injured. I highly recommend this tour, even if you have already gone on tours of Arlington Cemetery. It will show you a side of our military history that most tours miss!

While he was nice, he didn't have a lot to add off the track I pretty sure he had memorized. I actually feel like I heard most about which monuments had the best restrooms than much of anything else (we never asked about bathroom situations). Would I book this again, no. Here is what I learned, you still walk a fair amount into these monuments from where they drop you in the golf cart vs. the people who are on the bikes and scooters. If you're really looking for the least amount of walking and able to operate those that would save you time and money. Overall, there was no value for the price tag for us and the guide kind of ruined the experience.

Dropped us at Gallery Place and took the red line two stops to Union Station and the museum was right next door! Just wanted to make sure Nathan was acknowledged for his premiere service and I wanted to let you know how much my sister and I enjoyed the tour and set up our Saturday for a great day.
