I like that in town there is a go-to place to get needed items since there are no big box stores. I visited the store for the first time and was greeted for assistance. This is nice as it saves trying to figure out where things are. There is a tile-room too and I also am appreciative that they can provide sources for local service(s) people who can help with just about any type of home repair type needs. I was in and out with my needed items ... wonderful experience. I am writing this review because I use Yelp for just about everything and when I tried to find this business, I couldn't locate them. Terrible service!!! Rules are different for returns depending on who you talk to. I'm not sure how they stay in business as there is never anyone in the store except for 3-4 employees standing around trying to look busy. No mention was made of chip keys when I had 2 copies of my car keys made for my vehicle located in another state which I told them about. Lucky for me I had a working key or I would have been stranded as neither key they made started the car. When I came back and told the guy who made them he told me, "oh it's for a car with a chip key-well we don't make those here"....and I was refused a refund or store credit. Beside needing a loan to buy anything here (so overpriced because of their normal clientele), I was just lied to and cheated out of SC sales tax on a return item...a $9.99 item, which I just ordered from Amazon for $4.50 w/ free shipping. Now, we support Main St. as much as possible, but this a bit over the top!...and why HD, etc. have been so successful in their efforts. But this complaint is about a lousy $.80 sales tax that they stuck in their pocket. Story - I bought this item yesterday, along with other items for some $32+, including 8% sales tax...elsewhere, under $20. Paid w/ credit card. No complaints, I had too! This morning I needed to return for exchange the item mentioned above, didn't have what I needed (same price) So, I reached for the same credit card to be credited the purchase price and tax, and the owner said, "No, let me take it out of the till", and hands me a ten dollar bill. I said, "What about the $.80 sales tax", and was told that was lost money. (SC keeps that") I was told. Not true, I have always received sales tax back on a return! You can bet the credit card credit would have included that sales tax, be it $.80 or $80.00 I am incensed! read more
