Our experience with Georgetown Christian Academy has been overwhelmingly positive! The staff is deeply involved and truly knows each student, providing both academic and personal support. While things haven't been perfect all the time, GCA has been communicative and caring, especially during a tough kindergarten transition, ensuring parents stay informed and involved. One of the things we love most is the sense of community--students build relationships across grade levels, creating a supportive and uplifting environment. Mrs. Wonderly, the principal, leads with kindness and wisdom, always handling situations with grace and understanding. My daughter Ameina has attended GCA for the past 3 years and we absolutely love this school! I love how teachers stay connected with the parents on their child's learning and what needs to be improved. Having Chapel every other Friday is amazing, and has taught my daughter so much about the our Lord and Savior. We live Georgetown Christian academy. We have been going there for two years and couldn't be any happier. From the academic education to the teachers, it's top notch! The teachers are wonderful and caring. the class sizes are great! I love how each grade is taught to be a leader to the grades under them. Please do your research when looking for a private school as school is definitely not the word I would use for this institution. Although certifications do not necessarily guarantee good teaching, certifications help with staying current on educational standards and GCA is far from the standard. Professional development does not occur. Those few teachers at this campus who are officially certified through TEA and the state of Texas have not been in an accredited classroom in so long so they are unaware of the major developments and progression of education. The rigor has greatly increased across the state of Texas and unfortunately, students leaving GCA are struggling upon joining public schools or are not able to maintain the standard in other private institutions with exceptions of those naturally "high" students. The principal has not had any experience in the area of administration and leads you to believe she's had years of experience in education when in fact has few years of actual teaching and it has been spread out over the years, not consistent. GCA likes to portray an image through mistruths. One example is their webpage, where they do not have that many students nor that many years of experience and their "small class size" includes a kinder class with over 22 students. Even with an aid, effective, quality teaching cannot take place. Behaviors of students are anything but a reflection of the word of God we learn...students using profanity regularly, making blasphemous comments, and exposing other students to behaviors that should not be occuring at a private institution. Consequences do not occur especially since parents are employed and therefore admin has and continues to look the other way. Programs they try to portray do not exist. The classrooms are not quality. Students do not even have a way to visit the restroom without walking along an OPEN ramp that is uncovered. These poor children have to walk in the rain and cold. Their security is for a very limited amount of time each day but yet they do not share this with parents. Just research surrounding businesses to this school, specifically the business directly behind the school, only a short walking distance to the wide, open campus. The board has not done anything to help this school grow, progress, or improve. The board WILL, however, try to piggy-back on the legacy of a well known, loved, and respected woman in Georgetown and try to associate GCA with her amazing preschool when it is indeed NOT affiliated. They simply purchased the school from her but they did NOT adopt her philosophy on education. Their sole goal appears to be that of trying to "get bodies in desks." Research and you will find this information but do not take the lies they will feed you during their tours where they will make false promises and paint this picture of something that does not exist. read more

This is a long one but I wanted to detail a few of my favorite things about GCA for anyone that is looking for insight and trying to decide on enrollment! We ultimately decided to enroll at Georgetown Christian Academy because we wanted to prioritize a Christian faith-based learning environment. The principal, Mr. Roberton, definitely leads, stewards, and promotes Christian values. Our daughter is loving it here, she is more introverted but at the end of the day she will regularly mention how she can't wait to come back to school or how she wishes she could stay longer (since we pick-up at 3pm vs the extended). Our K teacher is super sweet, she's patient, smart, kind, organized, and experienced (10 years teaching). The classes operate in small ratios, which I love! and believe is pivotal in fostering the best learning environment for each individual child. Campus-- The campus sits on a few acres (not sure how many) but I would consider the campus small and homey. I like that there are no businesses on the perimeter- this helps reduce the outside traffic and activity. They neighbor some livestock which just adds to the rural atmosphere. On campus, they have a pool, basketball court, playground of course, and a small barn. They are developing an agriculture program, I believe they only have chickens and ducks currently; everyone gets to visit and pet the animals, and the older kids have also learned how to maintain the shelter and have been able to collect and cook the eggs! I also love that, in addition to their recesses, the teachers can take their classes on nature breaks, walks, or visit the chickens whenever they want. Lunchtime-- During lunches, the staff encourages and supervises meal-time manners and they ensure the kiddos are eating their meal before treats, which can be so helpful! Socialization & Relationships-- GCA is intentional about fostering friendships between the different grades. They coordinate mixed-grade activities throughout the week, sometimes it's just a simple lunch or a recess together. I think this is helping all of the kids learn how to confidently interact with people of different ages. For several weeks I also noticed some of the older boys were exercising their chivalry during school drop-off by opening doors for and helping students climb out of their cars. Raising gentlemen! GCA also reserves a special focus on community through monthly service projects where they get to love on people or partner with organizations in the community. Specials-- In addition to P.E, art, music, etc., the K-2nd graders are learning American Sign Language. My Kindergartener loves the art and ASL teacher and she's picking up ASL surprisingly quick. I also have to brag on the 5th graders who recently learned how to 2-step and performed this during a family event. The kids were taught dance etiquette; the boys and girls both practiced how to politely and confidently invite each other to the "dance floor", and it was just super sweet! I appreciated how this was a tackle on the "social awkwardness" characteristic I've noticed in a majority of the post millennial generation. Communication-- Simple and effective; E-mail! There's no additional app or website that you need to stay on top of. GCA sends a weekly newsletter that links you to each Classes' notes, updates, and reminders. For hard-copies or specific class work, our Kindergarten teacher sends her students home with a single take-home binder, and I imagine this is how the other classes do it as well. Chapel-- Every other week, the classrooms come together to conduct Chapel, led by Mr. Roberton and his alter ego, "Chapel Man" and all the kids love this character! Families are invited and welcomed to attend, so they usually use this time to recognize a few children and show the parents what they've been learning (scripture, song, a dance, etc). It's such a sweet time to watch the kids have fun while learning and growing in their love for Jesus and the Bible and it's a nice opportunity to meet the other parents. So far we are loving GCA! They work hard to build-up well rounded students who will enjoy learning, love God, humbly serve others, and excel academically. While I would love to see this school extend past the 5th grade, we really enjoy the small family-style community they currently are. I can't say enough amazing things about this school. We knew since moving to Georgetown that we wanted to do private school for your youngest. Two years prior to attending GCA we did a Mother's Day out program at a local church in town and knew we wanted to continue with a Christ centered school. We fully believe the Lord lead us to GCA because he knew his plans he had for our daughter and knew what environment she would thrive in. I love how involved they want the families to be not only in their children's academics but within the whole school. I believe this community is only going to make a positive impact on our daughter over the next 5 years and continue to cement her love for Jesus Christ. We are grateful for every staff member at GCA and appreciate the love they have for each and every student! School safety was a huge factor for us when interviewing with different schools and I'm very happy to say they are very like minded in the severity of school safety in todays times. Georgetown Christian Academy is home! We are continuously impressed with the education our children are receiving and the nurturing environment. The class size allows teachers to provide direct instruction and feedback, opportunities to grow and learn advanced material, and to genuinely get to know each student. At GCA, students are taught from a biblical perspective and learn how to see the world from this viewpoint. Chapel is an amazing experience for the kids, and parents alike. My family and child had a very bad experience with the school. It included teachers, principal, classroom, bathrooms, school curricula, other students, it goes on. My child did not complete a full year before we removed them. I know of other families that withdrew their children or didn't re-enroll. read more

We've been a part of the GCA family going on 4 wonderful years. GCA is so much more than a school - it's a haven. It's a place we embrace as another home for our daughter. We completely trust the staff at GCA and find so much comfort knowing she's in their care. I cannot say enough good things about this school! Georgetown Christian Academy has a fantastic program which engages the kids in the work they are doing and helps build their knowledge and skills in so many ways. This school has wonderful teachers and staff that truly have a heart for the kids and care about their success individually. Jesus is put first in their everyday lives and they are shown through prayer and bible study how to live that way. I have seen how this affects the kids' attitudes and behaviors towards others. They encourage each other, help each other when they fall down, and laugh with each other. They have positive attitudes that shine like bright lights! BEWARE. As a parent of a student who went to MCA now GCA I have to leave this review to let other potential parents know about this place and what you will be getting into. First and very important, this is not an accredited school. This is very strange because Abeka has an accredited curriculum that can be purchased from their website. Second, I would ask them how many supposed teachers on staff have teaching degrees. Or how many people associated with the school, from the owners down, have a background in education. Third, staff have their children in the school who get to do whatever they want with no consequences. A student bullied my child, and I know of another parent who had to take their kid to the hospital because of the actions of these kids. and others who withdrew their kids after a very short time in the school. To make matters worse, the school did not reach out to the parents of the kids who got hurt by these bullies. Also, I know the Principal, teacher, and staff allow these bullies to stay in the school and hurt other kids. If you decide to enroll your child, I wish you the best and hope you have a better experience than us and many others. read more
