Lil Paws is an amazing organization and I am just in awe of the work they do. I had been looking to…read moreadopt a new pup for a few months and been stumbling through the application process for another rescue. A friend sent a link to Lil Paws rescue and they happen to be holding a meet and greet to meet that day. Once I saw my boy's picture on the Lil Paws website, I knew I had to meet him! I was so impressed with the volunteers. One volunteered took the time to explain the process and what to expect each step of the way. I filled out the application online and the next day I was contacted by Marie. Her devotion to the wellbeing of all the dogs is obvious. And I appreciated the time she spent on the phone with me to ensure Milo and I were a good match. A few days later, she came over to inspect the yard, proposed a trail run for a week, and talked me through what to expect for the next few months. Marie checked in regularly to make sure Milo and I were good and to address any questions I had. Thank you Marie! I am beyond grateful for Lil Paws, Marie, and the other amazing people that volunteer their time to giving all the pups a second chance at finding their fur-ever homes. Thank you Lil Paws for bringing Milo into my life.

I applied to adopt in July and got approved by the end of the month. There were a couple of pugs I…read morewas interested but since the application process took a while, they were already adopted. Although I admit I was frustrated I was so happy when I found "Britches" (now named Penny), on the website. Within a week we were set up with a trial visit with her at our home. When we first met Penny, we were surprised at how friendly she was. Her bio stated that she was very bossy and might have an issue with children, but this was likely due to the severe ear and skin infection she had when she was surrendered. Penny is now a healthy and fun loving pug. She is kind to children and will voluntarily sit on any lap available. She is four years old but she is as playful as a puppy. She enjoys her squirrel toys, playing tug of war, and rolling in the grass. We are so grateful to PRA for giving us the chance to fall in love with Penny. Yes, the process takes forever and can be frustrating when all you want is a pug, but it is worth it. Also, understand that this nonprofit organization is made up of all volunteers. These people work hard and though it can be a taxing process, they are volunteering their time in order to get these fur babies a home. Once you are approved the process is so fast.

This company will place every road block in your way to adopt a dog…read more We were looking for an organization to make a sizable donation to and fell in love with one of their dogs. We decided to adopt a dog and donate to the organization. Unfortunately, the dog we have for 10 years and who was regularly taking heartworm and tic prevention meds for 10 years of his life was not current on his vaccines in the past two years due to being healthy and really not needing a vet visit for any particular reason. He is scared of the vet and requires full sedation each time he visits the vet. So we didn't put him through it. We have a good size house, yard and kids. We provided every proof that we are able to care well for another dog. This was absolutely a terrible experience. We decided to take our donation elsewhere and unfortunately didn't get to adopt the dog we really liked. Hope she (the dog) finds a good permanent home.

Austin Pets Alive! is near and dear to my heart because of the many animal lives they save. This…read morereview is a long time coming as I have many draft reviews that I am still working on getting posted. As the mother of a rescue dog who was going to be euthanized, I am 100% behind everything this thrift store stands for. In fact, every 6 months when I overhaul my closet, I donate A LOT of clothing, shoes, and accessories to the store in support of the cause. I also like to swing by as part of my North Loop jaunt (every few months, hit up North Loop stores and pubs---to include APA!) to make purchases. Found quite a few cute things here over the years not only for myself but friends and family. They've got an amazing selection of items and each time I pop in they seem to have loads more. Support this local shop in saving animal lives. Trust me, you will find something to buy!

When my aunt was alive every Christmas she would give me pieces of depression glass as a gift…read more These pieces were special to me because over the years she thrifted and amassed a fairly large collection. My collection has dwindled over the years through breakage. So I was thrifting looking for pink depression glass. The Burnet Road location is large, well organized with two-stories of items. It is filled with just about anything that you can imagine. Clothing...they have it! Shoes...they have it! Vintage items...they have it! Kitchen and house wears...they have it! Unfortunately, no pink depression glass. I will definitely return to thrift here due to their large selection of things. In addition, their prices are very reasonable. First stop Austin Pets Alive! - Burnet. I learned that all net sale proceeds go directly to support Austin Pets Alive!'s lifesaving programs for animals most at risk. Their clear mission is saving animals' lives, which is so heartwarming. According to staff, Austin Pets Alive! is known for pioneering innovative programs that help keep pets out of euthanasia and place them into loving homes. The Burnet Road location plays a critical role in sustaining those efforts by serving as a critical funding source for the organization's work across Central Texas.
