CHS is a blessing to our family. The staff genuinely cares about the students. The school is more like a second family.

His profile picture has him shirtless which is highly inappropriate. Rather than the principal stepping in and trying to diffuse the situation, nothing is said, allowing this teacher to be what tears children down. The Spanish teacher has been a blessing, helping my daughter even in subjects outside of Spanish. Helping her students build confidence. Since this was taken down, I would like to add since then Mr.Rivera has been speaking with the class stating "some students and parents are too sensitive to understand jokes" "don't tell anyone because I will probably get in trouble" He also told the children in his class about this yelp review, and allowing them to look it up during class telling them "this is how sensitive parents can be" When principal Hagan FINALLY responded to the issue it was a simple "the students know he's joking" So many school fail the students, guess this is another one..

There is no other school like this in Austin or the surrounding areas. All three of my children attend CSA and are thriving despite their different interests, learning styles, academic strengths, and personalities. My children's teachers know more about them than just their names and where they sit during class. Because in a small class setting children may have the same teacher for slightly different subjects and across the years, children and teachers form constructive relationships. And I appreciate the teachers' efforts to engage and guide our three mischievous children!

I have been a student of this high school for about 2 years and I can tell you that there are so…read moremany ups and downs that I have with the school. One of the first thing I want to tell what I like about the school is the science fair. As much as what people dread about the science fair, it is a place where I get to speak about my research to a panel of researchers that have a common interest in what I am doing. Therefore, I learned a ton throughout such programs, along with many others that the school has to provide to me as a student. Because of these learning experiences, I grow as a student. However, there are some concerns that led me to give it 4 stars instead of 5 stars. I found that the school still follows the conventional schooling that most public schools follow. It is through this which results in high stress and bullying, which then leads to the underscoring of the school. Furthermore, the uniform policy does not change how it leads to a cutting-edge school (although compared to other public schools, it is). But overall, I still love the school and I wish that every low-income students and parents who are seeking to give the best transformative school comes to here before considering others.

I am extremely disappointed with how this school has treated my son. In the short amount of time he…read morehas been here, a former staff member harassed him--following him to the restroom, making comments about his clothing, asking other students personal questions about him, and constantly picking on him. We reported these concerns and had a meeting about it, but all we were told was that she was no longer at the school. While things slightly improved afterward, nothing was done to address the harm that had already occurred. To make matters worse, another staff member not only went around asking another student for my son's phone number, but she actually called him after school to ask about drama happening at the school--nothing school-related, and nothing appropriate for an adult to discuss with a student. This behavior was completely unprofessional and unacceptable, yet the school chose to ignore it. Despite ignoring repeated misconduct by their own employees, the school immediately moved to expel my son the moment he was involved in one fight--while defending himself. Given everything he has endured, this feels like retaliation. The difference in accountability between a child and adult staff members is alarming. There are also major communication issues at this school. Many teachers struggle with a language barrier that leaves students confused about instructions and assignments, and little effort is made to fix it. This is especially harmful for students with 504 plans, who rely on clarity and support--not additional obstacles. Overall, sending our child to this school has been one of the worst decisions we could have made. Even in such a short time, it has become clear that this school is not here to support or protect its students. This experience has been unfair, discouraging, and completely unacceptable. Students and families deserve far better.

The school year wasn't even close to starting! For a not-for-profit this is a fairly shameful business practice and a terrible moral example to our children. After I explained my position to the (at least right now current) head Brian he looked me in the eye and agreed the tuition fee refund I was asking for was fair - to which he then sent an email days later rescinding this and denying me a refund. Shady beyond belief. For these reasons I would not recommend sending your child to IST.

I also love that every single person on campus from teachers to admin know our whole families names and help us feel so welcome and loved. They made good grades and learned many skills that will help them continue to be motivated learners and good human beings. Since we opened our doors I have been a founder, a parent, a volunteer, a donor and now an employee of the school. I've learned that growing and improving year-by-year is what we do. Many changes have taken place over the years but they all are part of growing a charter school community to be the best that it can be. I invite you to read about Jubilee academic centers San Antonio and come be a part of the AUSTIN campuses.

WBLA is going through a lot of change right now. I think in a few years the school can be great but…read moreright now they seem to be working out the kinks. The class size is not small and meets the standard maximum size. My son is currently attending WBLA and his class has the standard max size of 22 students (according to TEA). If you have a child with special requirements I would highly suggest looking elsewhere. I wanted my son to be tested for dyslexia and all I received was push back. A lot of things got ignored. I spoke with the local public school and had zero issues. For this reason I am pulling my son out of WBLA and into a Round Rock Public ISD school. We also had a lot of issues with bully's but the school handled the situation. They moved my son to a different classroom because there was a child in his current class with high auditory behavior issues. They felt it would be easier to move my child to a brand new classroom during the middle of school year cause my son would adjust better they said. Not even a month later they ended up expelling the child that was having problems. Go figure. Overall it is an ok school if your child doesn't require anything special such as gifted program, dyslexia, etc etc Update: I have since moved my child to Round Rock ISD and wow what a difference. I feel Athos standards were too harsh for young children. My son was coming home with massive amounts of homework in kindergarten. He was beginning to hate education. He dreaded going to school. They kept telling me my son was a tier 3 but refused to test him for dyslexia. Also, they were suppose to assign him a tutor but that wasn't consistent at the school so I had to hire my own private tutor. Now compare that to Round Rock ISD. My son loves going to school. Bully situations are properly handled. Within first month of school I am getting specialized testing. And my son WANTS to read. He loves school again and he isn't bombarded with homework. He wakes up excited. I hope my experience will help you along your educational path for your child. For us, going back to Public was better.
