Imagine they will come to your home with samples and were no pushy at all! No hard sell. Of course you are really interested and when the time comes you are surprised by the price. You probably like me have investigated. Jordan arrived with the biggest smile and unpacked outside. No added clutter or dust in your home. Off with his shoes, he was working. We couldn't help peeking occasionally and he was still amiable. Our questions were welcomed and easily answered. He even pointed out a small fold and said if it didn't resolve on its own to call and it would be fixed. Even though the initial demonstration had been wonderful, we were still wondering how the top or bottom could be closed. He was very patient in demonstrating. I got a few quotes from vendors I had reached out to on Yelp (thank goodness for Yelp) after first trying a personal referral from a friend that went poorly. I had two vendors come over and I like the brand of product that Paul brought for cellular shades, Comfortex. They had all sorts of beautiful colors and textures for the fabric cellular shades I had, and it was hard to choose! Another vendor I had come to my house did not have this brand, but had a brand that did not offer a fabric black-out cellular shade. I am really glad I had ABC Shades come over first so that I could see what was out there first. The shades have been installed and they are beautiful. Everything from start to finish was smooth and everything about the process was seamless. Having these new shades have really perked up the appearance of the 3 rooms I had them installed in. I knew they were not going to be cheap, but the fact is that these are custom-built for my windows, and I was able to select a lovely fabric. I also selected a higher end fabric so that I could get exactly what I want because I actually keep my shades closed almost 100% of the time, so I want to make sure I like looking at them. They provided a schematic of how the door would look, and an easy to understand and competitively priced project proposal. The proposal also detailed several options we were considering, including 1/2" glass. We opted to move forward with Pioneer, they estimated it would take approximately three weeks to order our custom door. Just under three weeks later, our door arrived and was installed a few days later. There were no issues, the measurements were correct, door looked great and worked perfectly and swings easily, all 90 pounds of glass. And the 1/2" glass gives the shower a high-end look and feel. We'd be delighted to work with them again on our next glass related project.

He was truly friendly and very informative about the products. Sometime later, our patio blinds had an issue and we contacted them. Mike, who was the original installer, came by and shortly after discovered there was another issue going on simultaneously. He took the entire mechanism to the shop where they repaired everything at no cost(minus the visit cost). Fast forward to now, our bedroom blinds stopped working recently and my wife contacted the original installer who informed her that the company was sold and he was no longer there. So she reached out to the new owner, who apparently works 3 days/week and also has another job. After 2 and 1/2 weeks of waiting- the owner called back and without so much as offering an apology to my wife for the waiting time-he proceeded to say that they would come out for a monetary fee but that he now only deals with designers. Needless to say- my wife was not pleased at all by his attitude and his remarks. Fortunately there is a company in Bedford who will be able to repair our blinds. And they were very friendly on the phone. As for Window Fantasies- sounds more like Window Nightmares with this new owner who I can promise will never have our business in this lifetime.

I…read morehave never seen anything like them before but they are great -- you can let in only a bit of light at the edges to softly wake up, have lots of light but kind of screened so there is privacy, or all open. VERY easy to quickly open and close. Also -- they were very professional and helpful in (a) coming and showing options (b) accommodating to my contractor's bad scheduling by rescheduling my installation appointment when I needed. He measured the windows and told me he'd provide me with a quote the following day. I got the promised quote (very reasonable) the next day and decided to proceed with the project. The shades arrived within the time frame Rich gave me and when he had them, he called to schedule the installation. Rich and his coworker again arrived at the promised time and the install was so quick! I'm in love with my new shades. At a time where it's hard to get a contractor to just return a phone call, Rich and his company were a breath of fresh air from start to finish!

She helped me come up with a design that matched my style and vision for the space. The materials I bought from her were all high quality and delivered without any issues. She also communicated frequently with my contractor which was a huge help given my busy schedule. Her experience and knowledge working on or with construction projects was a huge asset to making my project successful and low stress. Robin is very helpful, listens, provides great ideas and was instrumental in facilitating all aspects of my project. Robin is an energetic, passionate and great customer advocate who truly cares about her customer's success and satisfaction. My best advice is to go meet her, discuss your ideas and decide for yourself. The design/construction business can be sketchy (based on a past experience). Robin and the Design Center West team are open, honest and patient.

Unfortunately I am not the only one who has endured a bad experience with her. MH I warn anyone who will listen away from this unethical business and owner Robin Boyce. I had the misfortune to be her client and endure her careless, unprofessional, dishonest and ultimately abusive and vulgar treatment. My "custom kitchen" arrived without the custom elements and with a grossly oversized refrigerator. The kitchen designer blames someone else for a major kitchen error and refuses to fix it! (See photos) I had the exact same experience with the shutters and the custom stair-runner I ordered from her. They were both delivered with errors and missing parts, and Design West has done NOTHING to correct its errors. This is the worst experience I've ever had with another human being, period. I never received an apology on any mistake I swear to God. That's when I realized too late I had hired the wrong person. Robin Boyce/Design Center West scammed me by promising professional results and delivering dirt. Robin Boyce then turned verbally abusive when confronted with her easily disproved lies. (I have all documentation to prove my charges.) This last point deserves special mention. When I expressed my dismay at the errors, delays and lack of accountability, her demeanor shifted immediately from friendly to combative and borderline violent. It was a shock to learn the owner wasn't just a sleaze but mentally unhinged too. When I confronted her in her store after she ignored my contractor's emails and texts, she began screaming profanities at me while hurling insults about my appearance and character, which I presumed was an intimidation tactic. That felt sickening, but it worsened when she came at me with her arm pulled back as if to throw a punch, but thankfully she stopped herself before landing her fist in my face. I feel certain the only thing that stopped her was a possible assault charge. I would feel sorry for Ms Boyce if she wasn't a thief, and if her emotional instability didn't manifest in such an ugly manner. But no mental state excuses her dishonesty, mentally healthy or not. Not a word of this review is hyperbole. I lost thousands of dollars and was blindsided by a venomous verbal assault because I had the temerity to call out Robin Boyce on her mendacity and fraud. I could provide a colorful litany of her actions, but suffice it to say that it involved a lot of obscene finger, hip and hand gestures. Incidentally, her staff just sat there like dummies the entire time and let it all happen. Apparently they don't have an issue working for such a repulsive woman. Prior to my dealings with her, Robin was verbally abusive to my contractor on multiple occasions as well when he asked her about delayed deliverables. Following is an example of one the few correspondences between him and Robin that isn't littered with her F-bombs: "Shut up. Stop talking. Don't tell me what to do. Its not Maureen... its you. I'm surprised guys take your mouth, and the way you talk down to others; I suspect you've been punched a few times." This is the first---and I hope last--bad review I ever had to write. Let this brutally honest review serve as a public service announcement to warn others away from this troublemaker. Do not hire Design Center West. You will pay a premium for sloppy, mediocre results, and the owner will curse you when you express your dissatisfaction. This has been a yearlong nightmare that only ended after I hired someone else to fix all of her mistakes. Caveat emptor!
