They arrived exactly when they said they would on Tuesday for the installation. They were careful about the carpeted steps and finished spaces downstairs and cleaned up very thoroughly. Installation is much more complete then homebuilders was: heater is set in leak tray with drain directly into floor drain instead on just on floor, seperate surge tank instead of valve (that leaked), rearranged vents, etc. They were in and out in 2 hours. If I had another plumbing issue these guys would be my first and only call.

Thin Air likely saved my house!…read more My furnace stopped working late on a Sunday night when the temperature was hovering around 0 degrees Fahrenheit. I started calling 24-hour HVAC companies, and Don actually answered the phone at 11pm! He tried to walk me through a fix and stayed on the phone with me for almost a half an hour. When it didn't work, he scheduled a tech to come to our house the next morning. Ryan, the technician, arrived before 10am, and within about 20 minutes, he had found the source of the problem and made the repair. Our furnace was working again, and it was just in time for a night where it went down to -20 degrees Fahrenheit! I asked Dominic about Donald and he said that he (Dominic) actually own the business now and Donald was here visiting and "helping" him then Dominic asked for payment even though we had a warranty-two days ago our heat went out again -we called and guess who answered-Donald-and he was nice until we gave him the address-Donald said he'd send someone out by the end of the day and no one ever came and they didn't answer any of our calls after that. Headline: You can get AC repair and replacement done for A LOT less with other companies. Shop…read morearound! I had tech come out last week to look at my AC, which wasn't working. Cost me $130 for the inspection. The guy didn't really know what he was doing. I had to tell him to check the compressor. He'd only checked the capacitor and couldn't figure out why the condenser kept tripping the circuit breaker. It was the bad compressor that was drawing too much power. If I hadn't told him to check the compressor, I would have been out $130 and no closer to knowing what was wrong with my AC. Once WE had figured out what was wrong, he told me it would be $4900 to replace the compressor and immediately tried to steer me toward replacing the entire condenser. I got two quotes from them this week for condenser replacement. One was $8900 with a Trane unit and the other was $9050 with a Lenox unit. I ended up going with another company, which is charging me $2900 to just replace the compressor. That's $2000 less than the Lakeside H & AC quoted me for the same work. I did have to pay $120 for a second inspection but it was worth it. I might have been able to get my AC working again for even less money with another company but after being without AC for 10 days during a heat wave, I was ready to just get the work done. Here's some VERY important information about HVAC: Private equity firms are moving into this sector and driving prices through the roof. The bigger the company, the flashier their vans, the more likely they're owned by one of these firms and if you go with them you'll be paying WAY more than you have to. Again, shop around! Go with small companies or even a single guy with a beat-up, old van. You might even be able to find one that won't charge you for the inspection or at least charge you less. Chances are they'll do just as good a job if not better and they'll do it for A WHOLE LOT less.

It is hard to find anyone who is willing to do this work; no one seems to be familiar with the powered anode rods. I was referred to them by Yelp Projects. They responded almost immediately to my Yelp request, and were able to come out the next day. Their communication is excellent; I got numerous messages confirming my appointment and letting me know the technician was on the way, as well as a follow-up call to check that everything was satisfactory. My only gripe (for which I knocked off a star) is that they are very expensive, even as plumbers go. They charged $857 for a 1-1/4 hour job, for which I provided the materials. One nice feature, though, is that they do flat-rate pricing based on the job and not on time, so you know in advance how much it is going to cost.
