The instructor was not able to figure out a pre-calc question for 15 minutes, and proceeded to accomplish nothing for at least an hour. I went to Huntington Learning Center about two years ago, right before my junior year of high…read moreschool began, to take advantage of the PSAT/SAT test prep that was offered there. Two years later, as someone who is about to embark on her journey through college, I can say with great confidence that the path I am about to take is in large part thanks to the lessons I learned at Huntington. Earlier this year I was named a National Merit Finalist, and in order to receive that title, the first step is to do well on the PSAT. In preparation for this test, I recieved a lot of personalized tutoring that pinpointed both my strengths and weaknesses, and then aimed to hone those strengths while working hard to make me more comfortable with tackling my weaknesses. The test-taking skills I learned, and the methods that were used to teach them, were very effective in my opinion, seeing as I scored a 229 (out of a maximum 240) on the PSAT. However, it is important to realize that if you want to do well at Huntington, and later on succeed in school and on any test you take, it is ultimately up to you and how hard you are willing to work. Motivation to succeed is a key part of achieving success; this is also something I realized thanks to Dr. Pan, who runs Huntington. He also gave me a lot of good advice concerning college and what to expect in the application process, and I won't doubt he will do the same for anyone who stops by his office with similar questions! Overall, I highly recommend Huntington Learning Center for anyone who needs that extra push in preparing for a standardized test. It does not matter if you're already a smart student or if you feel that you need some work; Huntington will cater to your needs and will help you get the score you desire.

There aren't bathrooms in the office so go before, but you can leave and get re-screened at any time. I got the standard 2 laminated sheets with 2 thin dry erase markers and a tissue to erase, erasing takes some elbow grease but I didn't have to worry about getting replacements which was nice. They also provide noise cancelling headphones, they weren't the most comfortable but the room itself is very quiet in general so no problems there. They definitely discouraged writing on the sheets during the tutorial, so if you want to prep for PAT, do it during the SNS section. Good luck!

All the staff was efficient, calm, courteous and seemed to appreciate that people testing there were under a lot of stress already. The testing room was quiet, clean, and had earphones at each desk to block out any noise. There were no glitches in the exam/computer itself. The screening done every time you left the room and reentered was more detailed than a TSA airport screening so be prepared. You cannot bring water into the test room but you can come out to get drinks. For me the chairs were not that comfortable and difficult to adjust for my height so my back pain got distracting after 2 hours of the 4 hour test. Kudos to the staff for doing their jobs well.

At the time he was experiencing a lack of motivation due to the death of a his father. He came into the school with a bit of an attitude about school. Initially, He was not motivated to apply himself. I did not understand the concept of Clon lara when I enrolled him, but after trusting my son and trusting Clon Lara, I am happy to say that he is graduating and has achieved more than I could have dreamed from his public school experience. Clon Lara is a blessing. It took more than the first year for me to truly understand the concept. Seeing the results of a balanced, motivated, confident young man who is working and ready to attend college, is what came out of this student led learning environment.

As a parent, I would not recommend this school…read more My special needs child attended for elementary school and they promised me a specialized program. In fact, they used it as a selling point. I did not get a special program, nor did other parents who were also promised the same. Some of those parents, were even asked for more tuition money once the school year started to "accommodate" their child. They nickle and dime you for every little thing and, unfortunately, you don't see the return on the money you are paying. Many updates/upkeep to the school have been through donations of time and money by parental volunteers. It appears, with low class sizes this school struggles to pay staff and maintain the building leaving no additional funds for necessary supplies and the professionals services which many of these children obviously need. The authoritarian way the school is ran ensures things are kept quiet. If you do speak up, prepare to have your child pay the price. It happens.

Go!…read more It's best not to play this game with me because I seriously can't name one, out of dozens, that haven't sent me reeling into the uncomfortable realm of agoraphobia. This one isn't HORRIBLE but it's not altogether innocent, either. What's surprising is that the cafeteria food does not completely suck and there are often "guest restaurants" that sell their food here (like Jamaican Jerk Pit). It's also affordable. But I almost never ever eat at the cafeteria because it is effectively hidden on the 2nd (or 3rd'ish?) floor - you have to go up some steps and then 180, and then up some more, and then 180 again. Go with someone who knows where it is. So what is this place good for? It's good for walking through when needing to get to the library on a cold day. It's also decent to grab some food. I personally frequent Sushi by Panda (on the 2nd floor, not on the 1st floor which is just the Panda Express). Or I grab a wrap or salad at the little cafe on the 1st floor. I avoid all the junk food, and there is plenty, including a Quizno's, Panda Express, and various convenience stores with candy and chips. There are also a lot of banks and ATMs in this building. There's a small Barnes & Noble (with fairly high mark-ups for prices) and a computing store. Though there are study areas, they are not at all my cup of tea. Everything feels like it's from the '70s or '80s and beige beige beige. If it's studying you're after, I would push on through to the Duderstadt Art and Architecture Library's atrium.
