For context, I have never met with her in person, never signed a contract or scheduled a session. I ultimately felt like we weren't a good personality fit (something seemed off about her.) and I decided to look for another doula to retain services from. When I reached out to that second doula, Monica made it seem like I was her client - I wasn't. And then the other doula let me know Monica had already billed my insurance! I was livid, Monica kept saying it was "only" ONE prenatal visit and that I had "plenty of postpartum sessions left." I was going to dispute it with my insurance immediately, but then felt bad for her. Maybe she needed the money? I certainly didn't want to get her kicked off the insurance providers list. So I decided to reach out again to find out exactly what she billed for, and turns out she lied yet again! She admitted to billing for THREE sessions not one. That is coming directly from her so who knows what the actual truth is as I'll need to sit down with my insurance and figure out exactly what she did. I am so disgusted by this. I would never let this person into my home knowing how easy it is for her to take advantage of people financially and how comfortably she lies. Please stay very far away from her. I wish I never contacted her.

I was at a very low point when I heard from my friend that Estelle was a Doula. She has a background as a midwife in Belgium and so she not only knows how to take care of this mama, but also is great with my baby. She made me feel comfortable immediately. She did baby yoga, helped put her down for naps, gave baths...I could go on. Before Estelle came to my rescue, my baby wouldn't eat solid food. After Estelle, my baby was not only eating healthy solid foods, but I was too. She grocery shopped and cooked for me in my time of need. She truly helped me heal. Unfortunately, I didn't have a Doula when my baby was first born and had a tough experience in the weeks after. If I could go back in time, I would hire Estelle in a heartbeat as my Doula for the birth and days after. Call Estelle!

She was also very helpful postpartum as a lactation consultant. I ended up having a natural breech home birth in the middle of COVID19 and she not only stuck with us through all the changing plans but was also always so positive and encouraging when so many others were negative about going on the path of natural childbirth with a complete breech. We toured the office and both decided before we even left we wanted Sue to be my midwife. I always felt so cared for each & every visit. I never felt like I was supposed to be doing better than I was, Sue always assured me I'm doing exactly what I need to be doing. Even when some issues arose as they do, Sue was always quick to handle things and again make me feel so cared for and that she was always on my team. My birth didn't even go remotely as planned as the baby had other ideas and once again Sue was there by my side. She was with me through my 17 hour labor, 5 hours of pushing and 2 hour c section. She was in the room when my son met his father for the first time and she was the second person to hold him - she sang him happy birthday . I would not have wanted anyone else to be my care provider, she spoke up to the staff at VCMC & constantly pushed for my birth plan even if at the end it didn't work out that way. But again Sue made me feel that all was ok and exactly how it needed to happen and that I did everything I could have. Sue we love you so much!

When COVID happened I knew I did not want to deliver in a hospital and after delivering my 3rd child unmediated but in a hospital I knew a birth center birth was what I wanted. I have been fortunate to labor through my last two pregnancies with Sue and most recently delivered my 5th baby at the birth center. Sue never made me feel like a nuisance even when I text her about a million times with questions throughout my pregnancy. She welcomed my entire family to our prenatal appointments and all my kids loved going because the environment was so warm and family friendly. She connected me with the most amazing specialists when needed and make recommendations based on my needs. She encouraged me on the days I felt terrible and checked in on me and my family even after the birth. My birth was the most amazing and beautiful and redeeming experience thanks to Sue and her staff. If you have ever even slightly considered midwifery care or a birth center birth; Sue is your gal! After that, we only had one follow-up appointment with Melissa, and then she completely disappeared. We never had our second visit, and I was left with irregular postpartum bleeding. Despite calling, texting, and emailing, I never received a response. I had to see a completely unfamiliar OB just a few months postpartum, which was both traumatic and embarrassing after the experience we had already gone through. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend her.

My prenatal care was amazing and her presence alone just gives you a sense of calmness during such a big moment in your life. She took the time to answer all my questions and I loved that she has a website that I was able to log in to see all my information like lab work, visits etc. I saw someone posted a review saying she canceled an appointment and didn't wait for confirmation. During my care, another baby was being born when I had prenatal visit. I'm assuming the same thing happened and she was able to see me the following day. Babies are on their own timelines and you must have grace since she is one person and babies being born wait for no one and I can't imagine she had the time to check her phone while she's trying to catch a baby! I'm done having babies (I have two) but I will tell anyone if you're thinking about having a midwife, you won't be disappointed, she is a 5 star all the way.

She met with me and my husband twice during pregnancy to prep us for birth, labor, and postpartum, and she respected all my desires for birth and answered all of my husband's never ending questions. She provided us with lots of educational material and fun extras, like a laminated birth bag list and books about natural birthing techniques. My pregnancy progressed pretty smoothly until the third trimester, when I developed gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes. Amanda supported me through my emotions during this time and assured me that I was doing a good job and that we'd still do our best to achieve the birth I wanted. Well, that birth did NOT happen. I developed preeclampsia and ended up with an emergency induction, pitocin, epidural, and pretty much every other intervention. However, it was still an INCREDIBLE experience and I was still able to deliver my daughter vaginally. At the beginning of labor, Amanda came and set up the room with an essential oils diffuser, battery operated candles, sound machine, etc, and the vibes were PERFECT. I don't think we even turned on an overhead light until it was time to push. My husband and I chilled together listening to music and singing all day and felt like we were in our own dark cocoon as I progressed throughout the night. I had read books Amanda had lent me and was informed and prepared for how I would handle contractions. I labored for 24 hours before getting the epidural, including working through pitocin contractions by using techniques we'd talked about, and only got it because my BP was spiking - pain-wise, I never felt overwhelmed. I felt confident and empowered despite everything that was going on. The moment our daughter was born was unforgettable, and we are so grateful Amanda took so many pictures and videos of us! We were able to experience everything so vividly and then still look back later and have sweet pictures of our little family. After the birth, Amanda came for a postpartum visit and brought me so many fun treats. We got to discuss the birth and my feelings about it. I definitely think having Amanda on my team added a LOT of confidence to my birth journey. She was an amazing part of our birth team and I would definitely recommend her. She provides a ton of information and education and is there to support you every step of the way!
