I yelled a lot, but more than that I had lost my joy and I just felt like I was drowning in my life most of the time. Working with Janet this summer was like a warm hug. I had read all the parenting books you guys. I knew a lot of neuroscience and child development already. I had been trying as hard as I could to be a good mom for as long as I can remember. What I DIDN'T know was how to show myself compassion. What I didn't know was that I was never going to be able to do better until I felt better and my nervous system actually experienced safety on a regular basis. What I didn't know was how to care for myself like I was someone who mattered too. It took me a while to realize that these coaching sessions were actually Janet mothering me in such a beautiful and compassionate way. She was holding space for all the emotions and fears and hurt of my parenting journey without a shred of judgment. She helped me to believe that I make sense and that I'm already a good mom. She helped me to believe that my children are good too and that their most extreme struggles are simply part of their journey, not something to fear. She taught me to identify what my body was feeling and what I needed so that I could get to a place of safety and truly show up for my children with presence and empathy. It was such a journey with many ups and downs but I'm here to tell you that I'm building trust with my children every day now instead of tearing it down. I'm responding most of the time to my kids' tantrums & challenges in ways that I'm proud of. I truly didn't expect to get so much out of this parenting class and a few coaching sessions but it turned out to be one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.

The resources provided in her program (medical assisting) we're not sound pedagogically, not androgogically. It is a very self paced program with little scaffolding. I could not get ahold 9f the placement person to ask about internships and job placement. There were very few students in the building during the two weeks of her trial. Did theyattend 8n the morning or did few come? The website is not very descriptive and cites 100% placement rate. That seems unlikely, tho I suppose possible. It does cost much less to attend this program than other local for-profit medical assisting programs, but I think you need to be a much more sophisticated learner than most high school grads without work or life experience. ((I find it truly abhorrent to charge as much as these programs do to enter a relatively low-paying occupation. There is a two week trial period, which is good. Unfortunately, when it looked like my mentee was going to struggle with the pace of the program, they just wrote her off and told her not to return until they contacted her and have not done so for over two months since then. To be fair, I'm going by her side of things ,but I have no reason to believe she misrepresented her experience with me. I was very disappointed for her.

There is no way I'd have gotten this job without the knowledge of the two excellent instructors in the class, Scott and Dennis, who have a wealth of experience when it comes to AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Revitt. My favorite aspect of the school is that you're treated like an adult. I'm in my mid-30's and haven't attended classes of any sort since my early 20's as I'm not a fan of the 'typical' classroom environment. Here you're treated respectfully and with and understanding that there are other things going on in your life while you're attending class practically full time(M-F, 8-4). It's a professional environment without feeling stuffy. I've been in the work force for 15+ years and the school is a nice proxy for what a working environment might feel like. Another great aspect of this school is that they want you to get a job and will fall over themselves to help you get there. I think I interview very well and have good resume making skills, but the experts at the school who help you when you're in the final stretch with these things were immensely helpful in making me feel prepared for the interviews I went to. I've heard other graduates say the same. All the staff here are very supportive and if you're looking for a fresh start and a new career, I really can't recommend VACE enough. it was a life changing positive experience for me and I'm sure it will be for you too.

My child has now been in 3 different classes (started in infant classes and now toddler class) and has enjoyed each class. You know the teachers are doing something right when your child runs up to class every day! The perks of going to KinderCare are the curriculum set in place for each age level. My child had learned sign language in the infant class and now knows more words than an average two year old. We are greeted with big, welcoming smiles each morning! Oh and the app that they use helped ease any anxieties I had when initially leaving my child in care. I receive updates throughout the day of what she has eaten, how long she napped for, when her diaper was changed and the best part...pictures!! It is so nice to feel connected to your child while they're in someone else's care. I recommend doing a tour to see for yourself.

The kids respond so well to her; they listen and engage because she speaks to them in a way that makes them feel seen and heard. She meets them at their level, both emotionally and academically. Special thanks to Ms. Maria, Ms. Sara who have also been shining stars of our experience. All of the teachers we have had for both of our kids have helped to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment.

I recently enrolled at Conejo Valley adult education for a certificate program for office manager in order to get back up to speed in order to support myself after my divorce is final. It is a scary time... but fortunately for me, Chris Wilson has been my teacher for the first two classes in my certificate program. He is so thorough and makes sure every student knows what they are doing. I suddenly feel empowered. Because I am not just going through the motions. I am re-learning what I knew so long ago after many years. The class projects that he gives us proves to me that I actually know what he's teaching. I did not think I would be able to get back what I have lost. It is apparent that Mr. Wilson loves his job and he truly is rooting for his students and is willing to help them however he can. I recently had an early meeting with my attorney during class hours which I could not change. So I ended up being over an hour late for class. He was so accommodating and came to me during class break and caught me up on everything that the rest of the class had gone over that morning. Mr. Wilson has been my instructor for the first two classes for my certificate program. I can only hope that as I move forward, any other instructor that I encounter at the Conejo Valley adult school will be as knowledgeable, enthusiastic and patient as he has been with the entire class.

I found Clay Parlor, and we had the absolute best time! We signed up for a one-day "Sip & Spin" class, where you can bring your own beverage (BYOB) and experience a 2-hour pottery wheel session. It's an introductory class, so everyone is welcome, at all levels, and no experience is needed. Walking in, the inside of the studio felt very magical. It has an intimate, cozy feel, and you're surrounded by art pieces that inspire. The atmosphere is really grounding. When we arrived, the class was full with two other couples ready to start. Bella, our instructor, was fantastic--so supportive, funny, and relaxed. As she walked us through everything, she encouraged us to open our drinks and get the party started. Her instructions were clear, and she reminded us that it's all about having a good time, to be unserious, and reminded us to take a sip whenever we got too focused. After we cleaned up as a group, Bella guided us in choosing our glazes and let us know that she would fire the pieces for us. About 3-4 weeks later, we got a notification that our artwork was ready for pickup, and we were so happy at how they came out! Overall, it was an amazing experience. While it was a bit pricey for our usual date night, I would do it again in a heartbeat (and so would my husband - woohoo)! *HOT TIP: Their Friday "Sip & Spin" fills up fast, so be sure to check their calendar and plan ahead. **HOTTER TIP: Bring cups (that you don't mind getting a little dirty) for your beverages and any necessary wine/bottle opener.
