He's…read morein her room himself right now putting her photos on the wall with the lovely maintenance gentleman named Antony. The Nurses are so loving and attentive and they are truly OVERSTAFFED and not understaffed like every other nursing home or rehab my mom was in. He promised that and he delivered. My mom came Friday night and it's Monday day. It feels like a luxurious hotel. Family and friends can order any meals (which are actually delicious) AND order smoothies (Tropical, Almond butter/banana and a healthy green healing and recovery one!). I order two at a time for myself!! I get cappuccino for my mom and me everyday. And they have hot chocolate, mocha and vanilla coffees and even decaf cappuccino which is great late at night. I can visit 24 hours per day and right now I'm sitting in the room's recliner that is heated and has massage!! Each room is a suite for one person with a private clean bathroom, fridge, sink, dresser drawers and wardrobe, including the shower and toilet and additional sink. Her last nursing home was dirty and disgusting. And her nurses overdrugged her to quiet her down when she was agitated. She is at the end of life and wants to pass. And she is being treated with full care and dignity. She chooses to take her treatment meds or just comfort meds. But the nurses, doctor and social worker will help guide you at every step. Of course it's expensive- but it's worth ten times more for the care and love they give. Not a single person here has been snippy with me or my (pretty difficult) mom. No side looks like at other places. And she's been in three others before we found this HOME. I simply cannot rave enough about bringing your loved one here. I waited a month after my mother's passing to write this review so I could have some distance and…read moreperspective from the events. I contracted with Alvita to care for my mother during the last two months of her life after she was injured in a fall. I paid for 24 hour home care seven days a week. Other than Fabienne, I found the caregivers sorely lacking in the most basic of qualities such as companionship and emotional support. Also, other than Fabienne, the one on one care for which they were hired (toileting, hygiene assistance, dressing, grooming, feeding, etc) was mostly delegated by them to the staff at the assisted living facility where my mother resided, which negated the whole point of hiring them in the first place. Chronic lateness was also the norm. Most arrived 10-20 minutes late for the start of the night shift The night shift crew was especially problematic. In addition to generally not performing the basic tasks for which they were hired ("it's not my job" was the common refrain, even though it literally was their job), they often did not even stay in the same room as my mother who was a fall risk. Some slept on the sofa in the living room during the night shift, some spent the night shift doing schoolwork in a separate room, and some spent hours of the night shift on their phone in the hallway outside of the apartment. The complaints became so numerous from the staff at the assisted living facility and from the hospice nurses that I eventually had to change agencies for the night shift. Three of the low points during the Alvita night shift require special mention. (1) There was the night that my mother sat in her own feces for the entirety of the night. When Hospice arrived in the morning, the waste was dry and hard and had been there all night, despite a 12 hour Alvita shift. (2) Many nights, my mother was put to bed at 7 PM for convenience sake without any social interaction or kindness on the part of the aide. (3) My mother suffered a skin tear on her arm the night after I complained about the aides sleeping on the job. I was told that she injured herself, but there are no witnesses other than the Alvita aide involved. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Fabienne. She was the primary Alvita daytime aide for my mother. Fabienne went above and beyond the call of duty. She exuded kindness and compassion. She took the utmost care of my mother and treated her with dignity and respect. When Fabienne was on the job, the staff at the assisted living facility and the hospice staff took a break because everyone knew that she had everything under control. This is the level of care advertised by Alvita and the level of care that I paid for, but only Fabienne met the mark. Not only did she meet expectations, but she blew everyone away with her level of care.

They are very gentle, kind, friendly, patient and helpful as long as you trust the process. They treat the outpatient therapy just like they treat the patients that live there from my observation . I was in Roosevelt Care Center in Edison after surgery for a broken hip. The nursing staff was…read morewonderful, as were most of the aids. One or two of the aids might've needed a little help or additional training on how to move a patient who has no ability to move themselves. The PT staff was 100%! Every one of them were kind, caring and compassionate. They made me do as much as I could without experiencing pain. They never pushed me to go further than I thought I could. I went into the place not even able to roll over onto the bedpan, and I left there 4 weeks later with just a cane. I highly recommend the place.

Visitors can sign in at the front desk on the first floor, which also has a cafe and a hair salon with very limited daytime hours. The rooms and hallways appear clean and well-maintained, at least during the day. Being a long-term care facility, some of the patients (along with some of the staff) can be unruly and disruptive in the evening when other patients are trying to rest.
