For months my grandpa was scoring in the range to be in assisted living (above 22 points out of 30), and then he scored an 8. Mattison Crossing gave my mom a two day notice to move him into memory care. Since we still own his house in East Freehold, we got him a live-in and moved him out. Mattison Crossing says that we have to give them a thirty day notice to move out if the facility to prep for the next resident. The other day, my mom got a bill in the mail for $20,000 because we refused to pay for April and May. She took pictures of herself outside of the facility and pictures with timestamps of his empty apartment before May 1. Earlier in February, there was a massive norivurus outbreak (or a stomach flu). Nobody cleaned the place so my grandpa had it for several days and everyone in my family, except for me, got the disease. We've had to cancel several family events during the time and we fell behind in after school curricular activities because we were out the whole month. My uncle visited from California in March to celebrate his 50th. He went to see my grandpa and got sick the day of his birthday dinner. The food at the place is unhealthy and greasy. The pancakes, salads, and various other meals are a grease bath. They ran out of ice cream for a couple of days back in the late fall of 2024. We moved my grandpa into Mattison Crossing to give my mom a break from his drama. It seems like since the move there has been more drama. $9000 a month for little to no care is what you get at this place. It is better to have a live-in full time because it costs less. Mattison Crossing seems like a great place on the surface, but it's not. They killed my grandmother with neglect. Dying from a bed sore is absolutely unacceptable, especially when it's something that could be treated early on--it's not like a bed sore is hard to spot/identify. It was never treated, because the attention to care is simply absent. There are loads of activities for your loved ones, and I guess that is important... but that's about the only thing they do right. The staff (from the front desk to "nurses" and management) has a very condescending tone and lack of compassion. Send your loved ones here to die with bland food, snotty "caretakers" and lack of attention. read more

Dad has lived here for just over a year. I'm very pleased with the level of service and the community. Dad fell and was unable to live independently any longer. He was reluctant to move into an assisted living situation. Mattision Crossing made the transition as smooth as possible. They are supportive and caring. My mother has been a resident for 10 months. At first everything went fairly well. She had some complaints, some warranted, some not so concerning. It has gone quite downhill recently, so much so that a PT that was in my mother's room witnessed horrible and unacceptable behavior by an aide and called me. It's just been a long list and we personally know another resident that left and is so much happier elsewhere. I would not in good conscience recommend sending a loved one here at this time. read more

I went there today to visit a friend. As far as cleanliness, the facility was fairly clean (bathrooms too). I sat outside with my friend for almost 3 hours. I noticed the residents or patients all had a buzzer around their necks to be pressed in case of an emergency. Some of the seniors were not aware of their surroundings, let alone have the ability to remember to press a button for assistance. One man yelled for help. He had to use the bathroom. After about 11 minutes, I finally found someone to assist him and push his wheelchair. I was never asked to sign in or out, nor was I reminded to wear a mask (which I did anyway),nor did I have my temperature taken (thete was a small kiosk thingy for that). I was not pleased about putting my forehead against it, so I didn't. The receptionist was busy on her cell phone (not the regular phone). I overheard her personal call. By the way, when I used the bathroom there was an aide in there on her cell asking someone how many meals they wanted telling the person on the line what was for lunch. Knowing this is not a meals- on -wheels program there must be so much food going to waste they have to give it away. Shortly after, I saw her going out with 5 meals in styrofoam boxes. Not sure what that was about. I then proceeded to visit my friend's apt. It was a nice size apt. One small bedroom with a hospital bed and tv and dresser, a small bathroom, small kitchenette with mini fridge and freezer, sink and microwave. Kitchenette led into living room wirh a large tv a tvs stand and. Adequate for one person. A 3 seat couch. Very cozy. I stayed 2 more hours and left. No sign out. I am mostly Concerned about security and the well being of the tenants living in this facility. I would ot want to lige here. read more

Placing any loved one in any facility is not an easy choice. There is no place like home and this is probably one of the most emotional decisions we as a family had to make. Not to mention the financial obligation involved. However, with that said, we feel like Mattison Crossing is a near perfect option and we all feel very comfortable with our decision on choosing Mattison Crossing over other facilities we toured and received names of, from other people's recommendations. My mother has only been at this facility for a little over a week, but so far, Mattison Crossing appears to be a five star facility in my family's opinion. Physically, the place is very appealing and has a very positive feel from the moment you walk in. There are just a couple of hallways/corridors that are in the process of being upgraded with new flooring and wall coverings, etc., and I am confident that once completed, it will be 100% aesthetically equal to the rest of the place. But more important from the physical appearance, is the care. I have to say that during the past week and a half, every staff member I encountered has been wonderful! They all seem very professional and genuinely concerned and caring about the residents. I am sure there may be 1 or 2 staff members that are not as compassionate, as there is no such thing in life as "perfect", but honestly, I have not run into any negative or uncaring staff. From the Director of the place (Devi), to the Director of Nursing (Katrina), to the Marketing & Sales Director (Morgan), and many of the aides, they have all been very accommodating and caring and I can only say great things about them. I am not only referring to how they are treating my mother, but during the short time mom has been there (and I have been there every day), I have observed all the staff with other residents, and clearly they treat everyone with compassion and dignity. I would be remiss if I also didn't mention, they do have a variety of activities throughout the day and into the very early evening, which hopefully appeals to a vast majority of people. Some are very mentally stimulating and I do hope they come up with a few more that continue to stimulate the mind. Thus far, I have to say this was the perfect choice for mom and I highly recommend them for anyone looking for an Assisted Living Facility! My parents both came to what was called The Brookside TEN YEARS AGO this month. My dad died 3 years ago, and my mom continues to live there. There have been ups and downs, depending on who owned the faciltiy, and who was the Executive Director. Right now, during the COVID19 crisis, we have been overall very happy with the way thngs have been handled. The place had always been immaculate, and they always seem to be adding something or re-doing something to the main builiding, the enterntainment has been great, and the overall care has been really nice- as with any place, some staff make more of an effort and are warmer and demonstrate more caring than others, but overall my mom has always fallen in love with a few of the workers there at any one time,. During COVID19, they seemed to do their very best to keep residents safe, to keep families informed, and to give residents as much freedom as possible while putting their safety at a premium. The nursing staff has been pretty consistently outstanding. The present Executive Director, Devi, is wonderful, and is very responsive to concerns or questions. I have only two reservations about the place- One was that we chose it initially because having a kosher place and one with a significatn Jewish "feel" to it was very important to us. This still exists, but generally over the years there has been a very gradual de-emphasis on this part of the facility and a loosening up of some of the more traditional Jewish emphasis. The other thing has been the food, which has always been somewhat disappointing, but particularly challenging during COVID19 when food was delivered to the rooms. We have been told many times that they are working on this, and have been disappointed in the past, but are hopeful that the present Executive Director, and new head of the ktichen will finally be able to turn this around. But when it comes to the most important things- social connection, cleanlinness and safety and health issues, and overall a caring environment, we have been pleased. read more

After I observed this place to see if I can work here as a front desk job, I felt like I was at my recent job which is another nursing home but hopefully my first few days of working here will be ok. I just have to be cautious with the residents who likes to wonder around the facility while employees are at working. read more

I just moved my Dad into the facility last week but I moved my Aunt into Memory Care there almost 3 years ago. My Dad is in regular assisted living. They are both receiving the best care and I am very happy with all the staff that I have had to deal with. The new executive director Devi has been amazing and helpful with an administrative issue I was having and Tammy was above and beyond in answering all my questions and helping me to get my Dad moved in smoothly. I am confident that they are both going to receive the very best care. read more

No complaints. Everyone has been so good to my mom she loves being there. She keeps busy and made some friends!

They take great care of my dad! Food is much better now that there is new management. The nursing staff and Executive Director are always in contact with us. The activities department keeps my dad busy and we FaceTime often. I feel my dad is very safe there and that's what matters the most to our family!!! read more

My mother in law was a resident for 3 1/2 years. During that period, we saw a steady decline in activities and food service. Staffing was chronically short-handed. During the pandemic, the shortage made things worse. Residents were isolated and depressed and needed more care not less. In the the period of 3 months, she lost more than 40 pounds (we only found out when she was hospitalized). We tried to get updates on her weight and other matters but got no responses. She fell at least twice that we know of (we had to rely on staff to tell us) and were told that she was checked out and unhurt. When she was hospitalized for the last time and we saw her, we found swollen knees, recently healed scabs, and black and blue marks that showed that they lied to us. When she fell the final time and didn't return to Mattison for three days, nobody even contacted us to check on her status. She died a few days after the last fall. It took more than three weeks for us to get her possessions. When we finally got them, thousands of dollars in jewelry, clothing, walkers, shower chairs, and other items were missing. When we reached out to management, we basically got a shrug of the shoulders. read more

My dad has been here since the fall. While he is well fed, safe, and involved (as opposed to not eating, falling down the stairs, and not getting exercise), the lack of communication is appalling. Can't get straight answers on anything from what my dad ate, to did his cough get better, etc. There is no getting a timely email or phone call back...this starts at the top and trickles down. Hoping this review will get a response from whoever monitors this site and I can better explain myself with more concrete examples. read more

Mom currently staying there. Disconnect , lack off communication between the nursing and administration. Once mom moved in, 2 months later, contact points stopped responding to my calls or emails. Hard to get anyone on the phone even during business hours. RN's on the floor, excellent, caring, always willing to discuss anything. Operator, pleasant, always helpful. I get excellent, same day communications from the Meridian at home that is onsite and Fox Therapy. Meridian at home has even pulled mom's chart for me and sent me information, when nobody else was responsive. Night RN said they typically do not document subtle changes, and day to day items, unless there was a big incident, a fall, broke leg, etc. Which is not cool, there is no way to anyone to gauge moms illness subtle changes to be addressed with a specialist or the in house pcp. Most aides do not have enough specific diagnosis training, and often embarrass mom for putting clothes on wrong or having a messy room, etc, when all of this is part of her disease. When aides are in the room with mom, they can talk back, get defensive, badger mom when she cant remember. Instead of documenting items moms says like there is mold covering the walls, and saying hey maybe your mom is having hallucinations (part of her dementia), they call in the handyman and he never finds anything. The "bus" is currently broken and has been for a couple of months. Mom had to take cabs to specialist appts. They are in the process of buying a new one, but again was never told that by the brook side, Meridian at home let me know. Nurses in wellness center don't communicate with the care manager, care manager does not know what they nurses are doing and won't find out. Kathy was due to call me back, at least 5 times, never once has called. Brookside has morning meetings to discuss residents, never once have i been told what they talk about and given an update. Couple of nurses here that smoke, it should be banned from being around the patient care areas. Overall, room and board, access to aides, LVNs, RNs almost any time of the day, 24-7, food is strictly kosher. No hot meal cooking on weekends. Bubbys cafe is mostly fruit. The meals my mom has had, tend to be a chicken, fish, chicken, chicken. Food in general not home cooked, frozen, pre made, usually dry. I send in snacks, potato chips, snacks, lactose free milk. Occasionally they have snack size cheeze-its or during movies small cups of snacks. They sent survey recently seem to be mulling over opening up food selections, as they do have two kitchens. They are attentive 90 % of the time, listen to moms concerns, address what needs addressing. As a daughter would be nice to get a neutral point of view and updates weekly or monthly on moms condition or just in general what is going on with her health. Until that happens i will have to chase down her doctors and be involved with that process as much as possible. read more
