They did a fantastic job! I was skeptical after taking my husband to the Gents on Grand in St. Paul...they cut my husbands neck so bad with their shaver! But with the new location come new employees. My husband and 4.5 year old went in for hair cuts, both came out looking great! My 4.5 year old even got his hair washed which he thought was the most amazing thing ever. The barber did mention that they normally don't cut young kids hair, but ours is a champ and doesn't move so it was ok. I would recommend this place! I'm always surprised at hard it is to find someone to give a man a good haircut! read more

Been to Gents multiple times. the only stylist you want is $40(+ Tip) or more. if you go with anyone less they do a mediocre job. i booked an appt today for 4:45 which was confirmed through email, Text, and the App. when i get there at 4:43 the receptionist tells me I'm 15 minutes late and now she has to see if the stylist was available. the stylist(Jeanne) comes out with the receptionist and tells me she no longer has time today. i showed her the email, text, and app confirmation saying 4:45 and all she says is "well I don't have time and and it shouldn't say that." i don't get time during the week to get one and my brothers wedding is this coming weekend. I have gone to Gent several times. All the services are "good enough", but they weren't anything to write home about, and not worth the $38 (+tip). The stylist (pretty sure that most of these ladies couldn't be defined as barbers) was polite, did a decent job on shampoo, and the cuts would last 5-6 weeks, which is typical for me. The problem? For $40+ for a guys cut, it had better be amazing. It isn't. read more

I usually don't write reviews ever, but I have to for this. It was my first time at Gents getting a haircut. It started off fine but as the haircut progressed, it only got worse and more awkward as time passed. Before she started cutting my hair, I was asked to take off my sweatshirt because it "got in the way of her clippers". An odd request but I obliged. During the haircut, my nose was hit with the clippers, my ears were skimmed by the razor, my hair was yanked and pulled, and her nails were dug into my scalp during the shampoo portion. Maybe it was just my stylist, but nothing was gentle, and it felt like she was in a rush, even though there were no other customers in the store, and they weren't closing for a couple more hours. It used to be good! They changed my stylist to someone else and said I don't have an appointment that day. After i gave my phone number and asked them to verify again, they said they had to change my stylist, which is not a big deal except the new stylist they changed to did a horrible job on my last visit. I asked why was I not notified, they kept saying you would have received notifications and had no intention to either apologize or be tell the truth. read more

This is not a barbershop. It is a salon geared towards men. The girl who did my hair couldn't do a proper fade, and seemed as though I was a burden to talk to. Short one word answers and a couple eye rolls. Only saving grace is the hot towel on my face. I asked to razor shave my neck, and didn't get it. I will be going elsewhere. If anyone knows of a solid BARBER in the twin cities, feel free to message me. I'm tempted to fly back to Portland for a proper haircut every 6 weeks. read more

I just moved back to Minnesota and was looking for a good barber shop. I went to Gents and was concerned that it looked more like a salon and not a barber shop. The staff was very nice and informed me that every member was trained on how to do a razor fade. When I got the cut the barber did not use a straight razor or actually fade my hair. It was a line going across. If you're looking for a regular haircut you would get from any Supercuts or Sports Clips than go here. If you're looking for a barber who can do razor fades then I would not recommend this shop. read more

I got a cut from Rosie and this was one of the most enjoyable hair cuts I've ever had. She was friendly and a great conversationalist. It made the time fly! I appreciated that she was willing to make adjustments to my haircut and provided feed back for what she thought might look good. I was satisfied with the look of the cut and I received some positive feedback from friends and family. Went to get a haircut here and booked an appointment with Jenny, she was nice and asked me what I would like my hair to look like, showed her a picture of Justin Timberlake's hair from the "Love never felt so good" Music Video with Michael Jackson and she told me that she got me. About 30 minutes later I couldn't believe it but she got my hair to look pretty much the same and I was very impressed and satisfied. Good conversation throughout the whole cut. Would come again and get the same haircut or maybe try something new because Jenny knows what she is doing. read more

If I could, I would give our experience at Gent yesterday zero stars. I brought my 6 year old son in (he has been 3 times prior but with different stylists) for a last minute cut and he was put with Jennifer. She had zero social skills with my son, including ignoring him while he tried to excitedly tell her about our plans after his cut. She barely glanced at the photo of the cut we wanted, and ended up giving him something that barely resembled what we asked for. As far as the cut process--she made my son cry 3 different times. She was so rough with the electric razor on his neck, and didn't care in the slightest that he was uncomfortable. I had to hold his hand and console him, to which she never once checked to see if he was ok or if she should stop. Then, as she put gel in his hair, she pulled his hair so hard he had tears streaming down his face. I sternly asked her to be gentler and she proceeded to blame it on "the gel" and claimed that she was "barely touching his hair". No effort to apologize, or possibly use a different product. She had no sympathy for my son as she caused him such discomfort. Then she began to comb the gel through the back of his hair, again causing him to cry harder, without any effort to be gentler or ditch the idea all together. Bottom line: don't go to Gent and don't see Jennifer. To the manager of the store-you should care to hire people with personality and if you are going to allow children age 6 and up to get a cut there, then you should hire people who have the social skills to interact with them with kindness. She treated my son like he was a 30something year old man who has been getting his hair pulled and tugged for years. We will never be returning there and I will do my best to make sure everyone I know hears of the kind of treatment clients receive at Gent. read more

I called Gent in St Paul because of all of their great reviews and they do not have a barber to do straight razor shaves so they referred me to their Eagan location. I will say the experience was not horrible but I've never had razor burn from any barber in the past 15 years but when I left here my neck felt a little rough so I took a look in the mirror and my neck was all tore up and covered in razor bumps. The Haircut was ok but I didn't receive the fade that I asked for, and the beard trim left me with random long beard hairs sticking out all over. Needless to say I have to go get another haircut tomorrow from a different barber and I don't plan on going back to Gent. read more

Pricy but I love it. Jennifer is the best, I've been getting my hair cut at Gent for about a year and I can't be happier. I trimmed my own beard and Jennifer laughed and shaved me up proper! Best place in town, everyone is friendly and professional. Also has good hair jelly :) read more
