Always great service and always the best sushi in Wilmington. My daughters and I love the food, the atmosphere and the welcoming spirit of Genki.

Yes, I highly recommend this Japanese establishment. From the time we stepped in, we were greeted like family. Fortunately, no waiting time to be seated. The place is small like you are actually in Osaka, Japan somewhere. I love this Genki Sushi restaurant. We ate the whole plate. It was that delicious. The interior decor maybe dated but you know what, this place is my go to sushi every time I visit beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina.

Incredible food, attentive service, and reasonable price; what more could you ask for? As a self-proclaimed sushi aficionado, this place is at the top of my list. Truly can't recommend enough.

Genki is my favorite sushi restaurant in the Wilmington/ILM area. I've been here a handful of times, and it never disappoints! I continue to stand behind my claim that Genki is a hidden gem. If you're in the Wilmington area, and want to experience the BEST SUSHI then Genki is your restaurant! Pictured is tako nigiri "Octopus," Matt specialty roll, Fire in the hole, The Firecracker, Spicy tuna roll, and some white peach saké! My previous rating still stands, but they are really close to ALL 5 stars! Atmosphere 4 stars - Service 5 stars - Food 5 stars - Value for your money 5 stars. Overall I would give Genki 4.5 stars. The sushi & specialty rolls are a definite 5 stars. If you are from or visiting the Wilmington, NC area and want sushi then definitely checkout Genki!

Staff was very pleasant and efficient. Food was outstanding. I usually don't like most fish ("why go to a sushi place" you ask. They have more than just sushi). I tried my wife's and it was excellent. Also, best Egg Drop Soup I've had

Treated myself to dinner after my flight was canceled on a Friday evening. There is a parking lot outside. I came around 7 pm and had to wait ~5-10 minutes for a seat at the bar. The menu has an array of appetizers, sushi and other appetizers. The waiters were all very nice and attentive. The inside was nice but a little small. I waited a decent amount of time for my food to come out. I ordered a Philadelphia roll and a special of the week roll. It was yummy! The ingredients felt fresh. A little bit pricier. The edamame that came out before hand was fun! Overall a nice meal.

Fantastic sushi!! Highly recommend Pork Gyoza, Tar Tar with Bluefin, and Red Dragon roll. Look forward to returning.

Sushi Dinner

Genki is an all around fantastic dining experience. They do so many little things to make your evening feel special that most restaurants these days simply do not do, such as the hot towels before your meal, delicious edamame and seaweed snack before your meal and appetizers, to their little candies given out with the bill. I have eaten here multiple times and each time was equally impressed with the quality of the sushi. Everything is incredibly fresh and well assembled. I enjoy sitting at the bar and watching Chef Danny assemble all of the sushi, but there are booths and a few tables as well. They can get busy pretty quickly so I would suggest reservations if you are planning to go. They also have a great selection of other Japanese dishes besides sushi such as hand made gyoza and tonkatsu.

Always fresh and always delicious. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Pricey but worth it for a quality experience.

Pretty good rolls. I think they are a decent place to get sushi. They're way better in quality and freshness than nikkis

Ask the Community - Genki

Is a reservation required for Lunch? Do you have a bar that can accommodate one diner?

Hi! Thank you for your question. Lunch is walk-ins only. It's first come first serve. The best time to get a seat is right when we open. Our dinner shift is reservations only. I hope this helps and we hope to see you soon!

You order by checking items on a laminated wipe-off page and it is brought to you. Don't order all of your dinner at once, take your time starters, soup, salad first. You may order as much as you want but it's considered exceptionally rude to waste food. Think of it as a buffet but instead of walking steam tables, you select what you want and it's prepared and brought to you. If you don't know what you like, try from 1-2 piece selections first. Pay attention to the * on items. There's a clear warning that raw and undercooked dishes have some risks. If you have weak tummy or immune, don't eat those. Also use caution if you have strong allergies - especially shellfish - as that's a common worry with any sushi/sashimi place. These dishes lean "California Style" but cover most diets. You will have a much better experience if you don't over-order any round. It's not expensive unless you've never eaten in the Grand Strand. Especially buffet style. There is no buffet that allows you to share a plate or take-home free. This IS a buffet just with a different food service model than most are accustomed to. It's also not a place for kids unless you know they eat this menu. They'll complain and you'll pay too much for it. Ambiance can be very nice and borders intimate. It's not Tokyo authentic but we're not in Tokyo. We (4) ate on Memorial Day Weekend '26 evening for just about $40 per seat. We all enjoyed our own preferences of Sushi, Sashimi, and Hibachi. We also all ate our fill over two hours. We'll be back, it's in our rotation. Wheelchair accessible with NO obstacles. Very attentive servers.

The spread is legit impressive with tons of options and the portions are generous so you don't feel like you're hunting for the last piece of everything. I went straight for the sashimi and honestly crushed it. Every single kind I tried was super fresh, great texture, and actually tasted really good. Nothing fishy or off about any of it. The rolls were solid too, however we didn't try their hibachi so I can't say anything about those items. For the price, the quality is honestly hard to beat around here. We've got a few sushi spots nearby but this one is quickly becoming one of my go to favorites in the area. If you're in Conway and craving sushi without breaking the bank, do yourself a favor and hit this place up. We'll definitely be back!

Once entering I had to wait to be seated as the hostess was overwhelmed with the couple before me. She was very nice once it came my turn. I opted to sit on the patio since it was a beautiful evening. The bar seemed crowded with what appeared to be locals. There were only a few of us on the patio but it filled up as I was leaving after a delightful meal. Love the mix of old seaside decor and the memorabilia. This place has history. Now for the food. I had to have the She crab soup as that is one of the things the place is known for. It was tasty. Not a lot of experience with this style soup but I enjoyed it almost as much as I would have a nice bisque. The side salad was a bit small but typical mix and the blue cheese was good but needed more of it. (More on that later) I opted for water tonight as I was trying to behave but they do have a full bar and a good wine list. The waitress was very knowledgeable and when I told her I was going to try one of the fresh catches Carolina style she recommended the Drum. It was very tasty. I would have loved to have more of the Carolina topping to sop up with the nice biscuits they brought out. The Mac and Cheese was also tasty. The vegetable tonight was green beans so that didn't sound very exciting so opted for the Mac. Probably not the healthiest choice but was tastier in my humble opinion. Great experience food wise and my poor server needs a medal or something. She was attempting to cover the bar area and the patio by herself. She was literally running trying to make it all work. She was great but it does appear they need to hire a few more folks to help.
