This is a nice American Sushi/Teppanyaki that uses an ordering style more familiar in Japan than USA. The food is Japanese cuisine adjacent. You order by checking items on a laminated wipe-off page and it is brought to you. Don't order all of your dinner at once, take your time starters, soup, salad first. You may order as much as you want but it's considered exceptionally rude to waste food. Think of it as a buffet but instead of walking steam tables, you select what you want and it's prepared and brought to you. If you don't know what you like, try from 1-2 piece selections first. Pay attention to the * on items. There's a clear warning that raw and undercooked dishes have some risks. If you have weak tummy or immune, don't eat those. Also use caution if you have strong allergies - especially shellfish - as that's a common worry with any sushi/sashimi place. These dishes lean "California Style" but cover most diets. You will have a much better experience if you don't over-order any round. It's not expensive unless you've never eaten in the Grand Strand. Especially buffet style. There is no buffet that allows you to share a plate or take-home free. This IS a buffet just with a different food service model than most are accustomed to. It's also not a place for kids unless you know they eat this menu. They'll complain and you'll pay too much for it. Ambiance can be very nice and borders intimate. It's not Tokyo authentic but we're not in Tokyo. We (4) ate on Memorial Day Weekend '26 evening for just about $40 per seat. We all enjoyed our own preferences of Sushi, Sashimi, and Hibachi. We also all ate our fill over two hours. We'll be back, it's in our rotation. Wheelchair accessible with NO obstacles. Very attentive servers. read more

We went to Ichiban in Conway one random weeknight with my family just to check out their sushi buffet, and man, I'm so glad we did. We weren't expecting much but it totally blew us away. The spread is legit impressive with tons of options and the portions are generous so you don't feel like you're hunting for the last piece of everything. I went straight for the sashimi and honestly crushed it. Every single kind I tried was super fresh, great texture, and actually tasted really good. Nothing fishy or off about any of it. The rolls were solid too, however we didn't try their hibachi so I can't say anything about those items. For the price, the quality is honestly hard to beat around here. We've got a few sushi spots nearby but this one is quickly becoming one of my go to favorites in the area. If you're in Conway and craving sushi without breaking the bank, do yourself a favor and hit this place up. We'll definitely be back! read more

I have been eating here for a few years. Went back for first time in a couple years and while the food was still excellent, service (waitress) was horrible. I was waited on by Heather (per my receipt) who spent most of her time at a booth 2 away from me talking to what I guess was another employee. The F word was flying very liberally as they sat and chatted and laughed and pretty much ignored me. I had to call out across the room to her to get my check. She never checked my drink and I had to wait for her to get up to get my order for more food sushi/sashimi. Really spoiled the whole meal not having the great service I had in the past. Another great trip to ichiban. This is the BEST all you can eat sushi in the area. The prices are high compared to most places however it is all you can eat so you can easily get your money's worth. We have yet to receive bad service and have been coming consistently since October of 2024. I was looking forward to getting some sushi, fried rice, gyoza, and miso soup. Issue is the sauce and soup were very salty or sour. Sushi didn't taste very fresh and the worst part is I almost broke my teeth on the fried rice and truly though it was only one piece to find 5 pieces. For $30 this was not worth its price. Always liked this place but recently noticed they are nickel and diming you. Got a styrofoam to go cup for my drink and they charged 1.00. And the price to eat has been going up every week. And the kicker. My table of 3 all ordered. Food came out but they held back on giving us another order sheet. Then we asked and they gave it to us but we had to wait quite a while before our second order came. We got the second order but we're full at that point from waiting. Not sure if this is just a coincidence or a new rule. Went last week too and they did the same thing. When your food comes out place your next order right so it's ready by the time you're done. This place is so afraid that customers will scam them that they treat almost everyone unfairly. Cameras everywhere watching as families eat. This was our first visit there. The host (friendly) and manager (not so friendly - pacing back and forth) explained the menu and after some time, we decided to stay for dinner. We were told to ask our waitress for any additional instructions. When seated, we asked the waitress - "It's our first visit, what do we need to know"? She simply said we ask that you do not waste the food and please order any additional dishes from the menu once you have completed a dish. The food was hot and prepared well. At our final order, we were unable to eat remaining food, we asked to take the food with us as to not waste it and told she stated that we would have to pay $13.99. I explained again that this was our first visit, we are visiting the area and the policy was not clear. Also, we asked if she could waive the $13.99 due to those reasons. She appeared nervous, however she asked the manager. Upon return, she stated that the manager granted the request and provided 1 styrofoam container. We thanked her as we were very grateful, proceeded to check out with a tip on the receipt (the waitress requested a tip (???) The manager or owner walks by our table and said he did us a favor by allowing us to take the food, we thanked him. He was quite persistent about the "favor" even as we explained that we did not know. He was not hearing any of it and said loudly as he passed us "Do Not Come Back"! He became very confrontational and irate. I was shocked at his behavior as a manager because he told us it was OK to take the leftovers. I used to go there every week but today I was told about my order and how they charge for leftovers. Being there so many times I already know how much I order and how much is enough. They sent the server to ask me if I had read all the information about leftovers because I have ordered too many sushi's and I told I was aware and I wanted my order as I wrote down. They sent me a smaller order. I just paid and left, one of my worst experiences in restaurants at all. The food is ok but the ambient feels like they just want you to pay and leave.
