Today we took our fabulous Saeco espresso machine in to see what's going on under the hood. I felt like it's my baby going in to the doctor for the first time. Totally down to earth customer service guy Marco took it into the back and checked it out for us, (free of charge). Unfortunately we will need 150 in repair and replacement of the heating element. Depressing only because we can't put any extra cash out for that right now. Hopefully 2012 will be good to us and we'll be back again soon and get this baby running. Cool old shop, lot's of different espresso machines to check out and a droolicious selection of various accoutrements. Pretty much anything you might need. These guys are great! I went in looking for parts for two different espresso machines, a super automatic and a manual machine. Staff was super helpful and found all the part I needed to fix my machines, the grinder motor for the super automatic wasn't available from other espresso shops and I was super happy these guys had it. BE SURE TO KNOW THE SERIAL NUMBER OF THE MACHINE YOU LEAVE THEM FOR REPAIR. Admittedly I feared I was being shafted while it took time for this busy company to make thing right, and they certainly have made things right. We now have a refurbished coffee machine with a new cover. Genius have also provided a warrantee for the machine. Thank you Genius Coffee & Espresso! Approximately 3 weeks earlier..... They 'lost' the Saeco Odea Go coffee machine I brought to them for repair and switched it with another older worn machine that wobbled on the counter! I was told it was the machine I had brought to them as it had the same serial number on the work order of the machine I had left them. As the machine was not the machine I brought in for repair, I checked the original purchase certificate and the serial number was not the same. When I called back with the serial number I was then told that was the serial number they had on the work order! They did not have serial numbers, work orders, or honestly in check! I was disgusted and understood I was being duped. I have received statements via email and in person that I would be provided a suitable replacement machine but it had not happened. I have left several voice messages and sent several emails during the last weeks to no avail. I brought the machine to them for repair five months ago!!!! Genius really came through; I would definitely trust them to do a good job on your coffee machine. read more

I cannot recommend this business highly enough - i have had my Saeco espresso machine serviced and brought back to like new condition on two separate occasions, all at a very reasonable cost . Recently , I encountered a new problem and brought the machine in on a Saturday afternoon - it was repaired on the spot at no cost ! This place is great. They are extremely helpful and can service older machines. Another shop in town kept my espresso maker for two months and then told me it wasn't repairable. Genius fixed it without issue. Also, you generally get a delicious latte in the house when you go there. read more

I brought my machine in for repair and they gave the machine a beautiful servicing/tuneup and it came back looking and performing like new. Very professional and knowledgeable staff. Helped me to understand how to take care of my espresso machine the proper way. They even made me free espresso at the store and they carried my machine to the car. I bought a bag of one of their Italian specialty coffee and I can truly say that it has one of the best flavor (very smooth and sweet). I for sure will go back!! read more

I was looking for a part to repair my Cuisinart espresso maker (not a high-end machine but it gets the job done.) I e-mailed multiple shops in town asking if they carry the part. Most places didn't reply or told me to deal with Cuisinart customer service instead. Genius Coffee was the only shop that went the extra mile and found a compatible De'Longhi part for me. Best of all, it was only $5 and now my machine runs like a champ again! Somewhat related: I noticed that they sell my machine's portafilter holder for only $10 compared to $90+ at other shops! So although Genius doesn't have an online store, I highly recommend calling or visiting them to take advantage of their very honest and competitive prices. Excellent customer service, helpful technicians, and Eugene the owner is a stand-up guy. What more could you ask for? read more

These two ladies are the class of customer service and the front line staff who make a difference in a business. No charge for a simple fix that was done in minutes. I have nearly the same model as the 1st reviewer - Saeco - which I've had for 10 years ($300 at the time), so it had a few loose knobs, leaks and broken bits. Took it across town (35 m. each way from West side of Vanc.) to Genius based on positive reviews elsewhere and had an excellent experience. All staff were friendly and helpful - yes $150 for the repairs and thorough cleaning but hey, that's 40 Starbucks take-outs and better than $400-500 to replace it. Customer service was excellent when a small glitch occurred. When I tried to make a coffee, the light didn't work properly, so I called to ask if someone could come by, as I didn't want to make the trip back, esp. after the $150 bill. They quickly sent out Eugenio (normally only for commercial repairs) and he took it away and came back 3 days later, with the machine repaired, and a new basket - free!! (found in their "parts graveyard" - saved me $35+). We set it up, checked it and he gave me a lesson in perfect cappuccino. Really lovely people and super service - highly recommended. read more

The place to go for your espresso machine repairs. Great service, expect to Pay around $100 for repair and service of a machine ... Worth it for a $500 machine, but not your cheap Outlet store machine. Good news is they'll you if the machine isn't worth the repair cost and they every imaginable part for all European models ... read more

I was not impressed at all! My machine was destroyed rather than fixed. They tried to be nice but couldn't fix the problem. It took about 3 months and 3 goes to not fix it. They had no clue how to fix the problem. Each time they told me they need to observe it for some days. Coffee machine is not a patient to observe it. Eventually I asked for money back (total was over $200) and they paid without a problem. But my machine, originally brought to they with only a squeaky noise (I asked for just a tune-up), has developed many other issues after those 3 fixes - there is no pressure to have steamer function, machine keeps leaking water outside of it and it gets boiling hot on touch. It sizzles all the time. So having a squeaky, but fully functioning machine to start with, I ended up having non functioning machine. I believe, inside parts were changed for older, as they look different. After reading all those reviews, I can see that swapping machine or parts is not that uncommon for this company. read more

I live in a remote area and so it was costly to ship the machine there and back, plus the cost of the repair. I got it back and, in spite of the fact that it had been checked, descaled and thoroughly cleaned, maybe they didn't test it (too much espresso to keep drinking all day?), it had a new problem. I sent a video of what the problem was and technician Kody phoned me to take me through checking for the source of the problem. I was so nervous that I would have to send it back again at great inconvenience and expense! But he stuck with me and we checked things via telephone based on my descriptions and observations and what he could hear over the phone. We found the problem and were able to fix it. What a relief to have espresso coming out of the spout again! They were good with returning calls and emails and Kody was awesome in directing me to help him nail the problem. read more

Brought machine in to get fixed as this location was recommended by a family member. Took over 7 weeks to get a response and myself driving to their location to find out what the cost was to fix my machine. No messages or attempts to contact me even after I called their phone number and left messages to get a status update on my machine. I went in and explained situation and was told the employee who was working on my work order was fired and no one contacted me after that. I find out afterwards that the cost to fix machine was more than 50% of the refurbished value and employees made no attempt to give me a customer satisfaction discount all they said was "would you like a free coffee". I'm sorry if there was a zero for customer service this location would get it. It seems like the business has serious internal control and employee issues coming from a business owner myself. I'm still considering calling up the head office to place a formal complaint. Overall seriously disappointed. read more
