While cleaning the furnace they said they had to replace the furnace igniter and flame sensor. For the furnace ignitor they charged $349 and the flame sensor $189. On line you can see a furnace ignitor is $85 and the flame sensor is $13. So, I was charged $538 for parts valued at about $100 plus the furnace cleaning! When I complained about the high costs they gave me $100 back. I asked that they refund another $100 but they would not. My furnace was running fine before they worked on it and is working just the same now. So, it is hard to judge the quality of their work. I know they ripped me off with way too high prices for the parts. So, I would say this company has very poor ethics, don't let them into your home. They are just looking to take advantage of their customers, especially unsuspecting seniors.

Customer support: Shane was very accommodating in terms of scheduling/ changing appointment. He also called back really promptly. Services: Shane was unable to resolve the problem for me. He pulled the fridge out and looked at the back where the compressor was, checked the resistance, and said I needed a new fridge. He also said it could be computer board error and would be very pricey and may cost as much as a new fridge. I wasn't convinced as my fridge is relatively new (5 years) and on the market now is still around $3000. I sought a 2nd opinion with another company (that was recommended by a hardware store that said that other company services Fisher & Paykel appliances). The other repair company came and fixed it within 30 minutes (they knew exactly what was wrong based on the error code; it was simply the defrosting element that malfunctioned.. hence defrost error, my fridge has no more error since the element was replaced). Cost: He offered one of the most competitive call-out rate. He charged me for the call out rate and didn't charge me for labour since he couldn't resolve my issue. Overall, I appreciated the customer service and the courtesy of not having charged labour. But I did have to call for another company and according to them was a simple fix hence the lower rating.

In early Dec. 2025 I made a requested an estimate and servicing to BCVAC for air duct cleaning,…read moreservice of tankless hot water system, furnace and fireplace. Service was made next day however, to my surprise, it was a contracted provider (Midland Mechanical) who spent a total of 95 minutes (8:45 am - 10:20 am) completing all the work. Air duct cleaning was questionable. Most registers were not removed; no brush was used to loosen dirt in the vents and only a tiny nozzle was used to remove/suction external dust. I had questioned BCVAC regarding the use of a portable vacuum and was confident that large suction tubing was not required for a home however, in my research, it is clear that the air duct service was less than adequate. Most of MM's time was spent with the fireplace for my non-functioning remote. An initial quote of $348 by BCVAC turned out to be a cost of $867.55 to MM. MM insisted that the charge for tankless water heater was extra (later confirmed as an oversight and rectified by BCVAC). MM replaced fireplace remote (charging an added $393 including labor) and I had to provide the batteries as he didn't have any!! I disputed the charge for labor and cost of the remote but he was insistent. I later discovered that he had replaced the fireplace remote with a broken one. This, I believe, was intentional, as he demonstrated to me that he taped in the batteries telling me it was to prevent them from slipping out of place. There was no packaging indicating the remote was new. 2 days later, the first time I used it, the remote didn't work. Upon investigation we discovered that the battery latch locks were broken. I immediately cancelled the cheque, notified BCVAC and called to have the remote (batteries included!) removed by MM. I believe that BCVAC should have assumed the role of notifying MM however, it became clear at this point, that BCVAC functions only as a mediary and assumes no responsibility for the sub-contracted work. MM was angry that I hadn't given him an opportunity to replace the remote but it was clear that he intentionally charged me for broken equipment. I wanted nothing more to do with MM. Curiously, following his visit to disconnect and remove the remote, the fireplace pilot wouldn't maintain a flame. I then contacted Heritage Mountain H & C (a very reliable company) who spent nearly 1.5 hrs. at a cost of $396.38 to install a remote that I had purchased online. He determined that the safety circuit had been removed and wiring to the thermal couple port was not connected. (How did this happen??) He also cleaned the burner area, fixed the log placement and also issued a detailed invoice. In my opinion, had the fireplace been properly serviced by MM, the burner area would not need to be cleaned nor would the logs be out of place. Jesse from BCVAC was very cordial, honoured the quote for tankless water heater and issued a $50 gift certificate for future use but this experience will not encourage me to use BCVAC again.

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the handling of a recent fire incident…read moreinvolving a stove purchased from Home Depot, and the subsequent fraudulent assessment provided by your contracted service provider, Kirpal Calgary. , the interior of the stove caught fire, requiring the use of a fire extinguisher to suppress the blaze. The appliance suffered severe, irreparable structural and electrical damage. Allstate sent a technician from Kirpal Calgary to assess the damage. This technician conducted a completely negligent review. Despite visible charring, compromised internal components, and exposed electrical wiring sticking out of the unit, the technician claimed the appliance "looks good." It was abundantly clear that his only priority was collecting his service call fee, showing an absolute disregard for safety, liability, and professional ethics. I have provided numerous photographic records and video evidence clearly demonstrating that this appliance is a total loss and a severe fire hazard. It is deeply concerning that Allstate is choosing to accept the word of a negligent third-party contractor over indisputable photographic proof.
