Great company to engage with for our remodel. We had a total remake of our two bathrooms, replaced the entire home flooring, moved the washer & dryer back to the garage which created add'l pantry space, replaced the garage window, resurfaced the garage floor & built a custom side gate. Our old failing cast iron drains were also removed and replaced. Genhawk was able to swiftly perform all of the garage work several weeks before the in-house work began so that we saved some Airbnb costs. The craftsmanship of the work was excellent. Their team took the time to continually ask & comment about the look & feel of certain layouts, colors and alignments. We appreciated the effort that gave us access to their experience. We were impressed with the workers active concern for our home. While we did not live in the house during the job, we came by frequently and the work areas were always relatively clean & safe. Appliances and cabinets were always sealed and covered from dust. We could always tell that sweeping occurred and that tools were stored in the room corners out of the way. We also really liked the BuilderTrend software that was made available. We were able to track each day the work progressed both from the written reports available & the posted photos that their team took. We are also able to track the complete financial aspect of the project. The communications with the site team, with Tiphany & Michael was super. We always heard back quickly if we posed a question or a comment and many times, they would reach out to us about a future point that we'd need to consider & address. Fantastic company to work with! Everything about our experience was top-notch. They gave us a complete bid and an overview of the schedule to start. They did all the measurements for our cabinets and were extremely precise - everything fit perfectly. We were particularly pleased with the size of the team they sent - five guys for a kitchen that is 12' x 9' plus a laundry room of about 5' x 7'. They were always here a few minutes before 8:00 a.m. and always put in a full day of work. They always told us what to expect in advance. They were neat and tidy, and cleaned up every day before they left. They were always polite and never intrusive. They even have a service, Buildertrend, where you can log in online and see photos of the progress each day. We started a week late and they still stayed to a tight schedule. The whole project, including removing soffits, installing new cabinets and appliances, moving our sink across the room, and installing new lights and a new bay window, took about five weeks. The team - Scott, Jon, Aaron, Enrique, and Ricardo - each worked to their expertise, from electric, to plumbing, to carpentry. Our refrigerator only had a half an inch to spare and they fit it in perfectly. Our stove had to be adjusted a 1/4" at a time to fit the new counters and they patiently did it. We wanted to keep our tile floor and they never cracked a single tile! They brought in specialists and oversaw them as needed, including upgrading our electrical panel and installing stone countertops. We had been nervous that a project like this would go over time and over budget, but they did a great job of keeping close to the schedule and it cost about what we thought it would. When we had change orders, like when we decided to paint the living and dining rooms at the last minute, they always let us know the price in advance. Tiffany at the office was terrific, too - always updating us and answering our questions. We kind of miss all the guys! We're already making a list of more things that we need done around the house so we can have them back! read more

We had a horrible experience with GenHawk and the quality of their services. Immediately after they redid the surface of our balcony, ugly soft bulges and bumps appeared all over it. When we asked them to come back and fix that, they stated they had no idea why the surface was messed up. They said they worked on 50 units in our complex, and ours was the only one that had this issue. After our many requests to redo the surface they finally sent the same worker. He placed another layer of plaster which had exactly the same bulgy appearance. After that, GenHawk stopped responding to our emails altogether. Yet on their site they have a pledge, claiming their customers satisfaction is their main concern! The balcony inspectors hired by our HOA wrote a negative report on the condition of the surface of our balcony after GenHawk's horrible job. read more

This was our second bathroom remodel with Gen Hawk. Everything went well and they worked with us to ensure we were happy with the results. We appreciated all of the employees who worked on this project. Steve did a fantastic job on the shower, flooring and painting - his advice was on spot! Likewise, Memo got the electrical work done, along with the flooring and painting - he was great. Scott came in to do the plumbing, vanity painting, install a ceiling fan in the primary bedroom, and finish work - very professional. Tiphany and Chris at the office were friendly and professional as well. Mike has assembled a great team. Love that they use Buildertrend app to track progress and payments. I currently had one of my bathrooms done by them. They were supposed to complete my second bathroom but that ended up not happening. We were fired from them because we "complained too much" because they had damaged things and charged us to fix their mistakes. We were going to just leave it and asked for our refund for the second bathroom that was not worked on. They charged us and took money out of the refund. They refused to state why they charged us and insisted we speak on the phone. We wrote a nice email explaining why money was take. All we wanted was our full refund back even though they left things damaged. These are our final emails with them. So unprofessional. So rude. I have never been so humiliated from an email. I never thought business would be done like this especially after we spent roughly $28,000 getting our bathroom remodeled. I am not sure why they didn't explain what the charges were if they were valid charges but of course they are not valid which is why they avoided to explain them. We had already paid the bathroom they worked on in full. I do not recommend this experience for anyone. read more

My husband & I bought our first home in late 2016 & knew upon moving in that replacing our pitched ceiling & roof was of highest priority. While it would've been super nice to knock that project out w/in the first month or two, we were pretty financially tapped out from the purchase of the house so we limped along w/ the compromised until early 2019 when we couldn't wait any longer to deal w/ it. Michael Hawkins I found is a very dishonest person through my experience with him. His secretary came to my business asking for one countertop and one sink cutout. I gave her an invoice and the job price was $500. I sent my guys to the job site to start the job only to find two large-sized kitchen sinks and a large counter. I told him to read the invoice because we agreed on one countertop and sink cutout. He did not answer to the confusion but proceeded to blame his secretary. He told me that I should continue the job for the same price but I told him I had to walk out because it would be a loss for me. Do no trust this guy, he tells you one thing and it turns out to be different and he tries to get the most out of something for the littlest cost at the expense of others. read more

What started off as a some small master bath updates turned into a nightmare. We noticed that we had a small water leak within the walls that destroyed two load-bearing walls. We had six different contractors take a look at the damage and provide detailed estimates. We chose Mike at GenHawk because of his personality. His pricing wasn't the cheapest and it wasn't the most expensive but the customer service is what we needed. It was going to be our first major project and we felt that Mike would 'ease' us the rest of the way with his honesty. We're glad we did. It was great working with Mike. A project of this size had to be done in stages (demolition, plumbing, concrete, framing, etc) and at every stage we consulted with an engineer in the family who always commended the approach and work that Mike was doing. GenHawk did the demolition and replaced footing and framing all the way to laying the tiles and painting. The finished product was excellent. On top of that, the schedule he laid out for us was always on time. At some stages he was finished before the deadline. Highly recommended and will do business again with GenHawk! On a side note: We looked around for several contractors to come and take a look at our issue. We got the impression from 4 out of the 6 that it was just another proposal/quote. There was no real 'care' about the project and your goals. A couple of them kept receiving calls from people who were waiting to hear back from them on quotes (you could hear the conversation). I felt that if we would have gone with one of them we would have never seen them again...just the subs would be coming around. Mike came every single day. It meant a ton to us. read more

Gen Hawk did a full remodel (to the studs) of our entire kitchen, laundry room, master bath and hall bath. The end result is gorgeous, and all work was done beautifully, on time, and on budget. While the quality is of course most important, we also genuinely liked working with Michael and his crew. They were always, yes always, on time. Truly. They showed up when promised and worked within the very strict time and structure guidelines of our HOA. And we got a call or text every morning from Michael, just to check in and make sure we were happy. Honest, dependable, by the book and never cuts corners...I contracted Mike's company for foundation earthquake retro upgrade and a total bathroom remodel on my 1929 Spanish home. I can't invite my friends over to show them how incredible the foundation looks but certainly the bathroom! Nothing was simple on this old house starting with the layers of old flooring and lath.
