First off I had an original 1960 very small kitchen for 27 years. My husband and I are newbies to remodeling a home and were unsure of process and what to expect. We were finally able to get our kitchen updated. My husband and I received a few bids. We selected California Kitchen Creations, they were within 5k of other bids, we selected them over others for a few reasons. 1. Our first encounter with Emily was wonderful. She eased our nerves and she knew exactly what I was looking for, rustic minimalist with a Mediterranean touch. She walked us through the process, how they work and we put a tiny fee, which gets credited to project amount, for a quote and mock up of our design. 2. The quote was very specific and laid out costs for everything and had no hidden charges. There was a definite timeline. This made us relaxed in knowing so we could plan ahead. We also liked the pay as you go process. 3. The design was beautiful and Emily met me at the tile store and was always available for our questions. We rented a pod, which I suggest because the team was able to store their equipment at the end of the work day. Each day they came at the scheduled time and worked until 4:30 pm. No erratic hours. The team cleaned up and put what they could away each day. They were polite to us and my doggies, even though they barked at them. We had a total gutted kitchen so of course there is noise and dust. And there was a plumbing surprise, which really was not a surprise. The supervisors were always one phone call away for issues or answers. I can't say enough. They created a beautiful kitchen for us that we could never imagined. The square footage of our kitchen has not changed, but it feels and looks so much larger now. Our house is so beautiful now. I highly recommend California Kitchen Creations! I couldn't be happier with the work performed at my house and my mom's house. Bill, Peggy, and the entire team have been fabulous to work with. In 2019, Bill and team completed a full kitchen remodel at my home in Oxnard. I was so impressed with their work that I contracted with them again in 2022 for a full remodel of both bathrooms. They also replaced the old worn builder-grade linen closet, cabinets in the laundry room, and in the home office. The results are amazing (see pictures attached). Everyone who comes into my home, comments about the beautiful kitchen and bathrooms. The team just completed the kitchen in my mom's Ventura mobile home, and she loves it! She noted at the very beginning of the project how everyone is so professional and friendly. She had a great experience. I always have appreciated that Bill walked me through the layout and the timing of each stage of each project and helped me make design choices based on his years of experience. I was handed a calendar for each project just before they were set to began, and they always stuck to the calendar. In some cases, they were ahead of schedule. Hello, I am posting this 5 star review on behalf of my parents, Nicholas and Diana Deitch, who had a great experience with California Kitchen Creations. See below: We recently completed a full kitchen remodel with California Kitchen Creations of Ventura. We worked directly with owner, Bill Howard, to plan and budget for the project. Once the design and cabinetry components were determined, Bill prepared a cost estimate and a complete project schedule that worked within our needs, including countertops, tile, plumbing, electrical and lighting. The project was begun on time, with his courteous and professional crew. Demolition was completed in a day, and the house was left clean and ready for the new work to begin. From that point on, the project progressed according to schedule, with progress bills that matched the estimate. We could follow and anticipate the work by simply checking the schedule. Bill and his team did what they said they would do, and they always left the job site neat and ready for the next day. Bill monitored the progress and responded promptly to any questions or concerns that arose. The crew were personable, courteous and responsive, and we actually found ourselves enjoying the entire process, with relatively little stress. We loved Bill and Peggy from the start - they were great people with friendly personable personalities. The process of designing our kitchen was great, they gave us a sense reassurance and helped add their expertise where needed. Though we love our kitchen I feel there are finishing details that were missed/ignored. Bill and Peggy were out of the country during our install which lead to what I would call a "disconnect" on our job. There are corners of the crown molding and cabinets that were never sealed/finished. We have a drawer that gets stuck on the lip of the counter top and is extremely difficult to even open. I feel the cutout for our farmhouse sink was done poorly and looks bad. Bill ordered a new drawer front for one of our drawers due to a paint issue, they delivered the new front but never actually installed/replaced it. Our cabinets were hung and were left uneven, they told us "You can adjust them." Isn't that part of what we paid for? A year later the joints in some of our cabinet doors are beginning to split and the cabinet our wall oven is in seems to be pulling away. Like I said, we love our kitchen, but with the amount of money we spent I feel there are finishing items that were left undone. I do feel there should have been a final inspection once Bill and Peggy were back from their trip and that was never done. read more

The design of my kitchen is a stunning Bill Howard creation. He is very thorough and discovered/resolved a safety issue that had not been noticed by the inspector when I purchased my home last year. He has years of experience and all of his crew were very positive and easy to work with. Peggy Howard and receptionist, Wendy were also very positive and easy to work with. We utilized California Kitchen Creations for a complete remodel of our kitchen, no small job. A wall needed to be removed, gas/water lines moved, all new cabinets, sink, etc. Bill Howard and his team's work (I'll call it art) is incredible. I can't say enough good things about the way it turned out. I have heard horror stories of remodels taking six months of more. They had the entire remodel done in less than two months. We were given a calendar for each part of the project and it was followed exactly. Bill and his team are ethical, hard working and overall nice people. I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" and although CKC isn't the cheapest option, they are certainly the best. Over the years my husband and I remodeled our previous home twice and also built a home. After moving to Ventura 2 years ago we knew that our new home had a lot of potential, it just needed a major rehab. We selected California Kitchens not only for the kitchen, but to completely do the complete do over. In addition to the kitchen we did 3 bathrooms, our laundry room, tile floor throughout, soundproofing and every square inch was repainted. To say this place looks amazing is an understatement. This was a 4 month project and from day 1 to last week when they where complete there wasn't a weekday that we didn't have workers here. Something I never experienced in the past! From the estimate to the installation I could not have asked more. As I am a very picky person and I'm always nervous as to doing any type of remodeling as I have had many problems in the past, this was the easiest remodeling I have ever done. The estimate was on par with what we were expecting even with my additions to the original estimate, the installers came when they were supposed to come were diligent, clean, informative. Our neighbors had used CKC and we liked the quality. Nevertheless, we got bids from three contractors. We liked Bill because, unlike the others, he didn't tell us what we couldn't do; he figured out how to do what we wanted. We moved walls and doors and the remodel included kitchen, powder room and new floors on the entire first floor. I'd never done a remodel but the whole process seemed to go relatively smoothly and we're delighted with the finished result. Whenever an issue arose, Bill was here to work with us on finding a solution. It took a little longer than planned but that was primarily because of some surprises when walls and ceilings were opened up. California Kitchen Creations remodeled our kitchen earlier this year. Wendy and Peggy were very helpful during the design process. Bill then measured, planned and presented the estimate. Their crew did the job very professionally and Bill was on site frequently to check their work. Every phase of the project was completed on time and on budget. The only delay resulted from a defective range hood from the factory and, once the new one was delivered, they finished the job promptly. Based on the rudeness we've encountered from this company, just by being neighbors of someone using them for a remodel, I would never recommend them. The owner laughed out loud when I called to request they did not park right in front of my house when many other places were available. They have absolutely no consideration for the neighbors of people they work for. The office is totally unresponsive to our concerns and the people doing the work are even worse. It's probably partly because the owners left town and they don't feel they have to be accountable, since no one is watching. You will be making your neighbors suffer unnecessarily if you hire this company. read more
