Terrible customer service A few years ago I went in to buy a spa, the employee (who is still there), was arguing with someone on the phone, sounded like a personal spat, ignored me for 10-15 minutes while he was fighting on the phone. I left and bought one elsewhere. I have occasionally bought chemicals there since, and decided recently that I can't support this business because of the rudeness of this employee. I also saw, at last, that the same chemicals cost less than half on Amazon. I always prefer to support locally owned businesses, but will not go back to Genesis. read more

This review was not a mistake nor was it regarding Rick Ortega. This review was and still is about Genesis Pool and Spa's greed and retaliation to leave me in a situation worse then before they were called out. Nice try Brad and Dave. 1 star because they need all the help they can get with all these HONEST but bad reviews. Technician got a phone call from his boss who told him to drop what he was doing and go do a more important job. Technician left pipes detached with the water flowing out. They told me twice that for a spa service "it is $59.50/mo, but we do it two times for you in order to keep it it tip top shape..." That turns out to be 59.50x2-$119.00 per month NOT $59.50 for two included visits WHICH THEY IMPLY. You find this out later when you get the bill. AND they charge this same amount for just a little jacuzzi or large pool --- no discount for jacuzzi only. THEN, you get a surprise on your invoices for trip surcharges of $17. My main shock was that their service was supposed to include complete parameter adjustment, vacuuming out debris, cleaning the filters, checking the motors/etc. skimming, and protecting the cover with UV protectant, and wiping down the jacuzzi sides (YOU KNOW, REGULAR STUFF THAT POOL SERVICES DO). SCAM: they only thing the "technician" did was check the pH and then leave. All the parameters were WAY off, so I did the adjustments myself, treated the vinyl cover (which they ignored), wiped it down myself, skimmed it myself, but I did not have the vacuum to get out the gravel pieces. Also, he failed to note that the cover clips needed to be replaced. In other words, they cut corners to the max and do the minimum (at least in my case). I WAS SMART ENOUGH TO DOUBLE CHECK THE PARAMETERS AND VIDEOTAPE WHAT THEY DID from a patio security camera. Plus, my background is in hydrogeology so I know when corners are being cut. In my opinion, this service is not honest, not to mention that their service isn't service at all in my case---just a billing system to autocharge you and you have to waste your time with overcharge disputes. In this economy YOU WOULD THINK they would care about excellent service. After all, you are paying them for the convenience of not having to worry about the jacuzzi or pool, your investment, where neglect can cost a fortune. One more note, they quoted me a part and a service charge to fix a flow meter. Then when I got the mailed bill it was nearly twice as much as what they quoted with all kinds of other crap stuck on. A GOOD COMPANY WILL PROVIDE YOU, THE CUSTOMER, WITH A SERVICE SHEET (A CARBON COPY) SHOWING WHAT THE PARAMETERs WERE WHEN THE TECHNICIAN SHOWED UP AND WHAT HE DID AND WHAT THE PARAMETERS WERE AFTERWORDS (AKA, A "SERVICE LOG", AS THEY CALL IT). THEY LEAVE NOTHING AND JUST SEND YOU EXPENSIVE BILLS. Then when I pointed out the problems the manager/owner (Mr. Dry --- yes, Mr. Dry...) he sent me back a handwritten sarcastic letter rather than apologizing and offering to do better in future visits. I would never recommend them and will mention it at our HOA meeting. NEVER PATRONIZE BUSINESS THAT are mediocre and dishonest. Never. This is the reason this country is in a mess - because we have accepted mediocrity and corporate runaround. YOU DESERVE BETTER THAN TO WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON HASSLES. read more

We have just moved to Santa Fe, and the spa in our new home was not working. We talked with the owner of Genesis Spas & Pool, Peter, who assured us that Genesis could identify the problem and get our spa working. If only he were correct! After five service calls and a bill for $315, our spa still is not working. I spoke with Peter about our situation before I fired him. He stood by his work and his bill, stating that our spa was old and still needed much more work. He thought the bill was fair, even though our spa still isn't working. Obviously, our spa still needs more work: the water is cold! We will have more work done on our spa, but it won't be done by Genesis. Do yourself a favor and find a reliable, competent organization that conducts its business with integrity. That isn't Genesis. read more

Worst service ever! If I could give them a zero rating I would. Charged us for suspicious repairs and did not contact us about the problem. Fee just showed up on monthly bill, that is how we found out about it. Every month had added charges for chemicals we did not need. They just dumped chemicals in to pad their bill. Our hot tub had so many chemicals in it that it almost ruined the equipment and they ate a hole in our hot tub cover. These folks are not trustworthy and would steal the shirt off your back if they could. read more

I purchased my Garden Leisure hot tub from Genesis last year for $6,000. Recently I needed my spa serviced and Dave at Genesis sold me a bunch of chemicals and advised me how to clean my spa. Finally, with no success, I contacted Rick Ortega of Expert Pool & Spa who arrived today and drained, cleaned, filled, and added the correct chemicals to my spa. The water is clear, clean, and balanced. I discovered that Rick sells the same hot tub for $3,500 new. I'll use him weekly for servicing my spa. I would never recommend Genesis Spa. read more
