Unsatisfactory. About two years ago my 13-year-old Cal Spa was malfunctioning and I called Albuquerque Spa Repair. It cost about $1100, and took a few weeks, to replace the heating element and pump. I stopped talking at any length with the technician because he had a habit of lecturing in a condescending manner. The heating element has been fine, but the pump failed about four months after installation after vibrating loudly for some time. Because it was still under warranty, it was replaced, again after a few weeks, but the new one failed the same way after 18 months (out of warranty). After watching a couple of YouTube videos I learned that replacing the pump is not difficult, so decided to do it myself. I got the best brand pump available (Balboa, used by spa manufacturers, about $350), and some O-rings locally, and it went in fairly smoothly. I found that the pump was attached with two screws (should be four) and it was still using the original 15-year-old anti-vibration pad, which was old and hard, and I replaced. I do not intend to use Albuquerque Spa Repair again. read more

Owner of Albuquerque Spa Repair replies after 5 years . LOL! Yes, it was Albuquerque Spa Repair. Daniel Y isn't my real name, it's an internet handle. I don't post my real info online. We paid Albuquerque Spa Repair to fix the heating on our Hot Tub. And it worked. However, after an evening of enjoying our Hot Tub, the pump stopped worked. So we called them again. We were told it would be $600 to replace the pump. And I was given an under the table offer to replace the pump with a used unit for $160. Obviously, the Tech Albuquerque Spa Repair sent to our house had replaced another customers working pump and was offering it to us. We opted not to have the pump fixed at that time. For about 3 months, we didn't use the Hot Tub, due to the broken pump. Now, we never replaced the pump but randomly, as I was cleaning the yard, I decided to turn on the Hot tub. It turned on and the pump turned on. But it was no longer heating, again. Even though, we had not turn on the unit for about 3 months, we actually only used it that one time. Later, I opened the back of the hot tub (the hardware was contained in a box). There was a burned wire that had been removed and replaced. The replacement wire was also burned as was the board it was connected to. There was a greater problem that wasn't addressed. The fix was obviously a temporary fix. This was 5 years ago. So I can't provide pictures. I don't even that the hot tub anymore. read more

I have a leak in my spa. I called and asked if they could send someone out to check an unground leak. The service man came out. I turned on the equipment and showed him that it was not leaking above ground. He agreed that it was an ungrounds leak, but his company did not repair that kind of situation. Why then did they tell me over the phone that they could not do this type of repair and charge me over $91.00 to have a guy stand there for 2 minutes to tell me they could not fix it? I hope that the owner refunds me ASAP for this non-repair bilL. Hello again. The leak was no where near where the new concrete was poured a year and a half ago. it was under the lip of the pool edge, a few feet below ground. When the pool was installed years ago, the pool company never used a sealer to put two pieces of pipe together. It was a contractor error. It was a simple fix, once the hole was opened up. You are misinformed about the cause, so stop trying to lie about the cause, that you know nothing about. Your person whom I spoke with about the leak was informed up front that it was an underground leak, and she could have said right then and there that you do not do those kinds of repairs, so stop making excuses. read more

After moving our spa to a new location we had several problems getting it working. Broken joints, electrical set up done improperly, leaks. We had to have John from Albuquerque spa Repair out to our house in Placitas for each new problem we discovered. John was invariably on time, highly professional in his work, and he consistently answered all my questions. He was even able to get needed parts that are not in normal distribution. In my opinion, he always went beyond what was expected, not only doing high-quality work, but also advising us on how to avoid some problems that might come up later and how to use our spa properly. These guys are fantastic! John and crew went right to the problem in a knowledgeable and professional way. No BS, all work to get my spa up and running. He also found ways to save me $$$ where I feel other folks would have not. He replaced a motor (I knew was out) but also spotted potentially more serious issues that were best solved now and not when they failed completely. The work they finished was all quality. When done they said if I had any problems just give them a call, which I did, but I could not get them to come out without paying another $85 for the visit...even if it was only to flip a switch or plug in a wire 'they' left unplugged. The Tech was always polite and professional, the woman on the phone - only sometimes. The owner simply didn't seem to back up his Tech's work. I never got any itemized paper receipts (my fault as much as theirs) so I can't even prove they did any work for me except they came by three different times and I spent almost $1200.00, so I do have three cashed checks, but that's it. I even called them to say I'd like them to come by to double check and see why everything wasn't working as it should be ...AND if it still needed another part ordered, when they came by to install it, I'd pay the $85 visit fee. They ultimately never called me back. I wanted to give them only one star because I felt not valued as a customer, but as said earlier, the work they did was good.
