I usually do not leave negative reviews, but my coworkers urged me to. This was the first gynecologist (Dr. Brooks Candela) I have ever been to so I don't have anything to compare it to. In my mind I thought it was going to be a meet and greet (like with a PCP). But she actually had me take my pants off for a look see. I have never been to a doctor that would not answer my questions with science information. Alll she answered my questions with were it's your decision whether you want estrogen or not. No counseling or kind words. She had me lie down and inspected my vagina and then pressed down and said, "Does this hurt?" I said no. Then she pressed a little further down and I flinched.....Ouch! She said my vagina is thinning. She then told me my bladder is riding low and I asker her if this was bad and she just said it's up to you whether you want to fix it or not. So brusque and uncaring. Like she was so bored and could care less. And there I was exposed and yielding, trying to be helpful..... I told her when my husband and I are intimate it feels like he is moving my uterus up, she then pressed three times on my bladder, roughly and said this is your bladder and then pressed three times on my uterus and said this is your uterus. Ouch! It shocked me and I didn't know what to say. I sat up because we were through. She said she would prescribe me estrogen and progestone and a estradiol cream for my vagina. I tried to make small friendly talk but she was done and left the room. Didn't tell me how to use it, just to call her after 3 months to see if it was working. I had no information on how to tell it was working or what it would help me with. Worst experience ever. It is now 4 days later and I am still sore. I spent that Saturday crying and angry, trying to process that doctor's visit. I even stayed home from church because I just wanted to be alone. Never have I had such an experience. I think maybe she was having a bad day? I want to share some grace......but I have never had such an experience....and nor do I want to again. Any time I have to call about anything I have to wait AT LEAST 15 minutes on hold. then on 2 occasions, after they verified my phone number, I was disconnected, they did not bother to call back so I had to call and wait again for over 15 minutes. This has gotten worse every year and I have been a patient here for many years. The doctor greets me with a warm handshake, great eye contact and a lovely smile, then spends less than 5 minutes on a routine exam and rushes out. read more

I've only been here a couple times and I can honestly say I've never had a worst experience at a doctors office. My last pregnancy I was at Banner and I absolutely loved it, but was told that Northwest has an amazing hospital. That might be true, but so far the people at the front are very cold and inconsiderate, never greeted with a smile. The doctor Hayley Kiesel was very obviously annoyed when i had to bring my daughter to my appointment and she was watching a show. The doctor rudely asked me to turn it down, to which my toddler began screaming. I understand it was loud, but any mom would understand that sometimes you just need to give them something to distract them. She was tired and hungry, and Miss Rachel was the only thing helping. They have a 10 minute grace period, I was 11 minutes late and they made me reschedule after I told them I had to take my daughter to daycare where they took 7 minutes to open the door which and I had tried calling before with no answer, the front desk lady rudely explained that calling doesn't mean anything. Overall, my experience has been horrible so far and I'm probably going to switch back to Banner as soon as I can make an appointment. read more

I would NOT recommend the FNP at the crossroads location. I mentioned to her that I've been to multiple specialists to try and help me after my ovarian cyst removal and that she was pretty much my last hope and she spent about five minutes with me and told me she probably couldn't help me. It was a giant waste of my time and money. The lobby wait time was normal for any obgyn office, it took around 30 minutes. The front desk/lab staff are really nice as well. I wish I had a better experience with the FNP. read more

Just don't, I wouldn't recommend Genesis to any woman. Trust me and the other reviewers this facility doesn't care about you or its patients. I left feeling totally defeated and confused. I went to this gynecologist for a check up and to have an iud removed back in January. That experience was ok but they told me they would have to have another practitioner place the new iud after they ordered it because I guess not all nurse practitioners can place them? Which I think is strange, but whatever. I get seen by the new NP who out the gate seems to be in the biggest rush. We talk while she sets up her stuff about my previous iuds/why I'm here, etc. As we are talking, not heads up or anything, she starts to insert the iud. My body pushes it out and she has do it a second time. I have had FOUR iuds and this was the worst experience for any gynecologist appointment I have ever had. I will NOT be going back. Update: It's now July and I have had the iud removed because of severe R sided pain. The iud was placed in April. read more

Dr. Westerband is a negligent doctor. Its going to take me a while to get over it. I have endometriosis and her solution was to take a birth control I've already tried before, or do her friend's study through Equinox. Tried to have a conversation but she rushed out. Seriously. I had Dr. Robert J. Kahler, before having children, and he was great. Very nice and he always explained everything. Dr. Howard Eisenberg has been my doctor since 2008, through 2 pregnancies and I can't say enough good things about him! He is wonderful. Very nice, personable, thorough and I will continue to see him as long as he is practicing! I have also always good experiences with the office staff as well. read more

As of right now my fiance is about 18 weeks pregnant. The experience we have had so far with this company have been nothing but problems. We have had 5 appointments set up and all but two have been canceled by them. They were suppose to do tests for down syndrome and since the canceled all the appointments the baby is to far along now and they had to a less accurate blood test. Today she was spotting and called to get in. She called at 8am and was told they would call back, it is now 2 PM and they have yet to call back. We ended up going to the ER and was taken care of there. They do not care about their patients, they will cancel appointments the day of, they will make you wait sometimes 2 hours to see them, and if you have an emergency they will not even see you let alone help you. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!! read more

This review was from my 2013/14 pregnancy and was originally left on their other business page. They should have transferred the reviews because sheesh, it escalated quickly! I also updated the review, which is why my stars are higher here than there: Sooo, if this review were for Dr. Gayle Dean it would likely be a 4. I really enjoy Dr. Dean. Her personality and bedside manner are very good and she usually appears to care genuinely about her patient when she's meeting with them. That said, I'm 7.5 months pregnant and can't get in touch with Dr. Dean no matter how hard I try for any reason. The operator refuses to transfer me to her and her medical assistant does not return phone calls promptly. I got a call from the triage nurse four hours after I called her. This does not leave me feeling very confident about what will happen when it's time for me to go into labor. I'm feeling like the practice really doesn't do a good job overall ensuring that the patients feel that they can contact their provider. I have never, not ONCE, gotten a call from Dr. Dean herself, neither have I ever been able to reach her with any of my questions. It's a different kind of practice. I like her, but I don't know if I can stay with the practice because it really stresses me out to not know whether I can rely on my OB to actually BE THERE when the inevitable happens, especially if it's emergency circumstances. I'm really frustrated right now, after having spent the better part of today trying to contact Dr. Dean, so maybe that's coloring my review, but I think any pregnant woman would want to know that she can reach her doctor and that's just not an integral part of this practice, at least for this doctor. I cannot speak to the other physicians or to the nurse practitioners, who may be fabulous in their own rights. My only other complaint is the billing department. I have gotten several bills that purport to be from them, but they are all over the place in the amounts. Considering that my insurance covers maternity at 100%, I'm not sure why I'm being billed at all, but that's neither here nor there. I don't like the inconsistency. It's so hard to get through to anyone in their phone system and god help you if you call after 4 or before 9--it's like no one is there. All of the nurses and check-in people are incredibly nice, the lab techs and sonogram providers are nice and my doctor is in all other respects, amazing. 7/2018 Update: I did NOT deliver alone. Dr. Dean accurately (or luckily) predicted that I would not go into labor. And 2 c-sections later, I wouldn't have had anyone else deliver my boys. BUT, I never saw Dr. Dean after either delivery and I was in the hospital for 6 days with my first and 5 with my second. This is a big practice. I learned precisely what that meant, but I went back because I trust Dr. Dean with my health and my life. I think that says all I need to say on the matter. I had an appointment at 1:00 which they asked for me to show up 20 minutes early for since I'm a new patient. I showed up 30 minutes early, finished the paperwork before 1:00 and still had to wait until about 1:30-1:45. It seems that the place is quite busy which is a good thing. But appointments are made for a reason, right? That's really my only complaint. I really liked my nurse practitioner (Robin) as well as the nurse's assistant. Had my annual checkup. No problems or issues. Just needed to renew my birth control prescription. The ladies who just take blood samples all day long weren't the friendliest. They really seemed like they hate their job. Typically, a visit to the GYN is about as enjoyable as going to the dentist. I have been a patient with Genesis for some time, I was a patient of Dr. Westerband and because she was likely delivering babies, I was scheduled with Teresa Mote and she was/is GREAT! She, however, retired. Tragic. I live in Sahuarita and work in Nogales, so it makes sense to see a provider in Green Valley and I learned Genesis has an office in Sahuarita, so I scheduled. Obviously Dr. Eisenstein is qualified and experienced, however, he lacks bedside manner and couth. After discussion and planning, we decided to try an IUD, in theory, it's a great idea, but my body didn't like it and I was having all sorts of side effects. I decided I couldn't keep it and made an appointment to be removed. He literally went out of his way to talk me out of it. I regretfully, "rode it out" like he suggested a little bit longer and my symptoms got worse. I went back to have it removed, and after I told him all my issues/symptoms, he still tried to convince me otherwise. Then he told me it was likely too late to think about kids anyways. I felt great after leaving there (sarcastic). Fast forward three years, it's time to get annual exam and this time I decide I'll go back to Dr. Westerband even though it's 40 minutes in the opposite direction of where I work. 1) The Genesis scheduling staff/department are polite and pleasant, very helpful. 2) Front desk staff leave a lot to be desired. They are the face of the clinic and as such should make eye contact and SMILE! Communicate, use your words, stop talking about swimming with your family or throwing your kids into the pool so they can learn how to swim. IF you must do so, do it discreetly. The patients are the reasons you ALL have jobs. My appointment was at 8:45, I was taken back to room at 930-9:40. The MA escorted me to room, vitaled me and went through the forms I completed, she entered the information into my chart and make a few comments and asked some questions. She gave the instructions to undress and wait for provider. Provider walked in about 10:00 or so and literally conducted my annual exam in 7 minutes. She didn't review the forms I completed, didn't ask if I had any questions, she said "Ok see you next time" and walked out. I didn't know if I was supposed to walk out, wait for nurse to come back or what. So I got dressed and escorted myself to the front, navigated I should say. When I navigated myself back to the front, I walked by a nurses station where there were 4-5 MA/Nurses sitting. Not ONE looked up, not one made eye contact, not one said "bye thank you for coming." NOT ONE ACKNOWLEDGED MY PRESENCE. Finally, visit over and as I'm checking out I asked the checkout lady if I need to do anything, she made sure I didn't owe any money, because I'm sure If I had they would have paid very careful attention that and "shook me down for it." I told her I still had a question and she said "sure just walk back and ask Stephanie." I did so and no Stephanie to be found, so I asked one of the five MA's I saw sitting at the nurse station. I let her know I needed a refill and she asked for name, I could not remember, but she asked in a non-discreet manner. I understand they are all abiding by HIPAA, but doesn't a patient still deserve to have their privacy respected? She asked for DOB and found the medicine based off what I mumbled and said it aloud. Yes, that is the one, I said. She said, "OK, I sent it to the pharmacy you should be able to pick up later." I called later and the pharmacy informed me they had not received anything from the office. I was not surprised. I work at a community health center, I have an intimate understanding of HIPAA, Customer Service, the concept of "patient first" and "patient centered." My observation of this practice/group now is since they have converted from a small group/practice to a corporate, they have no longer focusing on "quality patient care, but "quantity." That is how long I've been a Genesis patient. Patients are numbers, in and out, and I'm almost positive their incentives are contingent upon how many patients they see/treat. I don't' know this for sure, but the way they herd patients in and out like cattle, that is my best guess. I will not be going back to Genesis OB/GYN again, to any of their locations. I've never had to rely on Yelp reviews for patient care, but honestly, it's the best place to find reviews that are, perhaps not all accurate, but when more than one person expresses the same type of treatment, something is not right at that practice/group. When she left the practice (and medicine entirely) I was in between follow up appointments and after trying to give the new provider a chance I am looking for a new practice. They clearly overschedule their doctors, hire incompetent medical assistants, and drag out diagnostics over several weeks, which is infuriating. read more

Not happy with this place at all. Was told to come half hour early to fill paperwork out but filled out at home, printed it and signed so I could work and come straight over. I walked through the doors at 2:59PM and walked up to check in, handed my license, insurance card and payment card to the lady at desk and signed paperwork, signed payment receipt and was told to wait. My receipt shows payment received at 3:04PM. I've been sitting here since and it's 3:47PM. I have to leave at 4:30 to pick up kids from daycare and at this rate I may not even make it back there in enough time to see doctor and get a full evaluation. :( Unless something spectacular happens to them this visit around, my review stays at 1 star only because the lady who checked me in seemed nice enough when I checked in and again when I walked up to her at 3:37 to explain that my appt was at 3 and I was getting worried I wouldn't have enough time to be seen and get out of here by 4:30. :( Although she was nice and apologized and said Dr Dean was behind and there was still another patient in front of me, I was still annoyed, because when we come after 10 minutes of our start time appointment I'm told by other patients that our appt is cancelled and we are marked as a no show. That infuriates me, because doc offices run late, and we can't charge them for seeing us late, but they can cancel our appointment and charge us for 11 minutes late? :( Had I come half hour early and not completely paperwork at home I'd be here an hour and 17 minutes without seeing anyone. They have now called 3 more people in front of my instead of the 1 they said was in front of me. :( Sorely disappointed as this place came highly recommended. ------ I went back to another nice lady the front desk and told her 4 others had been called and I was told I was behind one person. She reminded me there were 6 providers back there. She was kind enough to make a call to the back and she actually got Dr Dean who I was waiting for and got off phone and said she said nurse was just coming to get you now and some other stuff I didn't hear since I was ready and waiting to go in. I stood this time so they wouldn't forget me and 3 more women were called back there and I was done. At 4:04 I walked over to their desk and told them I had to go, didn't care about my money, mail the check to me, but I cannot wait any longer...after being told by both women I was next in line and after waiting for 6-7 women to be called since being told I was done. Dr Dean might be amazing, but she won't be my doctor. Genesis OB won't be where I find carrying service. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. It always takes me months to even get an appointment with them. The front desk are not understanding at all, and have very poor customer service. The doctors refuse to see anyone past 10 minutes late, and won't even accommodate you if they have a cancellation or no show. They will just use that time for themselves or leave early. I called the front desk to see if they will be able to take me still if I am 10 minutes past my appointment time and she told me that it should be fine, but it's also up to the doctor's discretion. I told her I was on the way but I also don't want to drive all that way for nothing. She told me it's still up to them. I show up 15 minutes past my appointment time and all the front desk told me is that it's out of their control. I get a message later on in the day saying I NO-SHOW!? Ridiculous. When I do have an appointment, I am still waiting over an hour just to be seen, every single time. They need to treat their patients much better than they are now. read more

This is a warning please. If you choose to use any of the Genesis OB offices be pushy, be persistent. If you feel at any point in time that your care is lacking or your gut instinct is telling you that something isn't right, speak up or FIND ANOTHER OFFICE. If you value your unborn child's life you will listen. Don't take for granted that the doctors are right and you are being over worried parent. That is your child and him/her will be your everything. Please think twice if you must choose one of these practices. But if you must, you are your child's only voice that can save his/her life. From a Parent who knows. read more

I have never had so much trouble making appointments, getting a call back, or just getting basic care. I am new to town and needed a doctor. So far, I have scheduled two appointments, both 4-5 months out, and Genesis called to cancel both a few days beforehand, offering only to reschedule months later than the original appointment. I finally got in to see a nurse practitioner, with whom I couldn't get a word in edgewise to ask questions or address concerns. I felt railroaded and confused about changes she wanted to make to prescriptions I've had for years. I have been so disappointed with this practice. I can't imagine what would happen if I had a serious health issue. Two bright spots: A nice person at the front desk & many locations. read more

The office is clean has plenty of room in the waiting area. They have a small area for children to play at while parents are waiting. They offer fresh infused water at the front desk. This is a very busy practice so you will have to wait to be seen. I've never been taken in at the time of my appointment. I usually go back 45 minutes to an hour later. The doctors are great so you don't mind much. The only issue I've had is with some of the support staff. They don't seem to have the same passion as the doctors. They don't call you back in a timely matter and seem annoyed once you have them on the phone. It's a terrible representation of the wonderful doctors. Since you deal with them more often they should be more aware of their behaviors. Overall this is a great practice with doctors who care. They make you feel comfortable. I would suggest Dr Fewell for anyone looking for a female OBGYN. read more

I rarely write reviews unless the experience is exceptionally good or bad. Dealing with office was so subpar, I decided to share it. But first, I'll say I liked Dr. Stephanie Chin very much, she made me feel comfortable, seemed very competent, and was helpful in answering my questions. Otherwise, it was stressful and alienating dealing with the clinic, from not getting clear directions to the parking and building, to getting far too many email and electronic phone calls but not being able to get questions answered. After my appointment I got a call from an electronic voice telling me my results were in and to go to a website that I couldn't hear clearly. Now I have to call them, go through their robo voice system to actually find out the results. The whole experience, except for the 7 minutes in the office with the doctor, left me feeling cold. read more

Please get a new lab tech. First of all, little to no communication between the doctor office and lab office. Cuz when I go to lab (in the same lobby) the guy doesn't know squat and starts asking questions "you already saw the doc?" Yes fool I just gave you my doctor slip, and I'm like idek they put it in the system. Call them and ask them. On top of that he is slow....like slow....I remember a couple of years ago there was a girl there. She was quick and friendly. This guy is annoying because all of the times I've come in he has talked to me about this procedure or that procedure and I'm like "I know, this is my fourth kid" but he still keep taking like idk what this is. For those that are having their first baby, the doctor is the one to tell them the purpose of certain labs. At times his cologne is strong and offensive. Haven't even seen a doctor yet, but customer service so far is horrible. First appointment was cancelled by the practitioner--okay, life happens, I understand. Had to reschedule for the middle of the day on a workday to avoid waiting 2 months to be seen. Second appointment I was 15 minutes EARLY, and was turned away because I should've been 30 minutes early to fill out 10 minutes worth of paperwork. Rescheduled and brought paperwork all filled out, ready to go, 15 minutes early for an Appointment at 1030. It's 1115 and I'm still waiting, and have been told there's TWO patients ahead of me. They don't value your time at all. Want you there super early so you can sit and wait and be at their beck and call, probably so they can double book. Poor organization, poor service. Don't recommend if you don't have insurance. Called and explained I had no insurance and was quoted a price. They called me later to inform me they charged me too little and had to charge me about $50 more. Doctor ordered a test, I asked if it would cost extra, she said no, then I was hit with a $700 bill from labcorp about 2 months later. read more

From the beginning I was lead to believe a natural birth would be an option if everything was healthy throughout pregnancy (and it has been) every time I try to bring up my birth plan I'm shot down by horrible scary stories and told that a birth plan hardly ever goes to planned (which I understand. I am open minded about medical intervention if an emergency comes up) After multiple visits, leaving feeling uneasy and being told countless natural birthing nightmares I decided to switch doctors just to have an even worse experience today. I could hear the nurse and ob laughing joking about how I gave the last ob "a hard time" right outside the door. When I tried expressing concerns and feeling unusually different recently the ob immediately offered to prescribe me meds before even letting me finish telling her my symptoms. She then proceeded to convince me into what she called a vaginal swab to test for infection by saying that "good moms have to do uncomfortable things for their babies health" and failed to mention it was also an anal swab as well. I've been told by two different ob now that "if you don't like how we provide care you can go elsewhere" all because I've openly expressed I want a natural unmedicated birth. When I first brought it up it was "too early in my pregnancy" to discuss and now I am 37 weeks pregnant being told an IV is mandatory and to go see the midwives if I don't like the way they provide care sugar coated with "but I'd love to still see you next week and provide care" I am completely disappointed and beyond angry with the lack of professionalism and compassion with two of the ob here at crossroads and the one nurse I've had to deal with as well who week after week is in a horrible mood. Today I had an appointment at 10:30. I had waited a month for this appointment. I got there at 10:15 and was told I had to reschedule because I should of been there at 10. I was not made aware of this. Now I have to wait 2 more weeks for another appointment. I was told my next appointment was at 9:30. I asked what time I need to be there, I was told 9:00. Why not just say the appointment is at 9:00? I asked why so early, she said so I can fill out all my paperwork. (I had literally just filled it ALL out) Front desk girl was extremely rude. So now I get to wait 2 more weeks and go in a half hour early to sit because all my paperwork is completely finished. I have been going here for 16 years. I have never been treated so poorly. My Pharmacy tried for over a week to get a birth control prescription renewed, they called and faxed multiple times with no response. I had to call in myself to get it straightened out, I got the operator and I asked to speak with a supervisor, she transferred me to scheduling and I waited 11 min on hold to speak with someone. read more

I've been coming here for years and love the care I receive. I had a painful lump in my armpit that my primary care disregarded since the ultrasounds came back clear. My gynaecologist sent me to a specialist because she understood my discomfort. Turns out I had a cyst that needed to be removed surgically. It's been such a relief! She has also been very helpful and patient about finding the right contraceptive and making sure I have all the information I need. read more

When I showed up for my appointment, they had to reschedule, because I was late. Mind you, I had to call and ask what time my appointment was, because there was no confirmation call. I love Dr. Westerband. I recently Has a reversal done by a surgeon in Texas. I hated the scar . I got pregnant and have been seeing Dr Westerband. She took great care through out the pregnancy . I had to have a csection due to the reversal. Dr westerband did an amazing job. She went through the same scar I had from reversal. I could not explain how amazed I am on how my scar looks now after csection. I also have a16 year old (crazy I know). Dr westerband was my ob when I was pregnant with her also. I highly recommend her. Her staff as well. I enjoy seeing her nurse. We always have great conversations. read more

i would NOT recommend this place to anybody. my first visit i waited 21/2 hours to be seen. Today i was 10 min late and notified them of this before coming. they tell me no problem come in anyway. there was 2 people in the waiting area unlike the last time i was there. i had an appt to see the nurse practioner NOT the dr. they refused to see me. i will never return to this uncaring horrible facilty. i worked for tmc for over 10 hears and i find the quality of care has gone downhill and fast. i would not recommend this office or dr chin. read more

Having the first ultrasound of our first baby, they don't allow recording or taking pictures in the premises but show in multiple posters that they will send you digital copies of the ultrasounds at your request. Asked the ultrasound technician to confirm and she said that we can have the images but we need to fill paperwork on the outside desk. When asking for the paperwork in the outside desk they say they only send the pictures from the second ultrasound. Before we left we ask in the outside desk again and they say we should have filled the paperwork before entering for the US. Three different people, three different answers. final result: we had to walk out without the pictures. This is outrageous, we have the right to have those images, processing a complaint. read more
