Losing my son is a pain I could never have imagined--there are no words that truly capture the depth of that grief. But in the midst of that heartbreak, Genesis Cremation and Funeral Services became a source of comfort, peace, and strength. From the first moment I spoke with Ms. Francine Bryant, I felt a sense of calm and compassion that I desperately needed. She and her team handled every detail of my son's arrangements with the utmost care, respect, and professionalism. They saw beyond the logistics and treated my child--not just as someone who passed--but as someone deeply loved and worth honoring. No question went unanswered. No request was too small. They created a space where I felt supported, not overwhelmed, and gave me the time and room to grieve without pressure. Every part of the service was handled with such dignity, and it brought me a measure of peace to know my son was in gentle, respectful hands. Thank you, Ms. Francine, and thank you to the entire Genesis team. You helped carry me through something no parent should ever have to face, and I will always be grateful for the compassion you showed during the most painful chapter of my life. When my husband passed suddenly, I contacted some of the funeral homes listed in the booklet given by the hospital. I called one of the very well known ones, well, it was awful, I felt like I was speaking to a robot, and the person didn't even TRY to sound sincere. After that, I am SO lucky and happy I contacted Genesis. Very close to my home, affordable, Francine could not have been more kind, helpful, sincere, professional. I wholeheartedly recommend Genesis, they made the worst time of my life more bearable with their expertise. You forget what someone does, you forget what someone says, but you never forget how someone made you feel, and I am forever grateful to Francine for her help, and how she made me feel human again. read more

My mother recently passed. Genesis attended to my mother's body with care and compassion. They did an exceptional job with her cremation and ensuring her ashes were prepared for international transportation. When there was a potential for a delay in getting the death certificate, Genesis physically went to registrar to get a copy of the certified death certificates. I recommend them for cremation, especially if you are planning to transport ashes internationally. read more

After searching for cremation services and reading reviews Genesis Cremation had the best rating. Let me say, it's true. From the first call to closeout Ms. Francine was thorough and professional. Thankfully, I don't have much to compare my experience with Genesis and other similar services. But I do know that Francine was very helpful to me at a point when I had no idea what to do. My wife wished to be cremated, and upon her passing, I called Genesis. Francine explained the process, answered all my questions, and was very compassionate and understanding. As the process moved forward, Francine kept me informed. A few times, the email dialog was a bit disjointed, but I think that is simply the nature of the business they are in. They cannot really plan in advance. I feel the cost was more than fair for the services rendered. I recommend Genesis highly. read more

I contacted Genesis for more information during the difficulty of dealing with my mother's passing. After speaking to Ms Francine Bryant I was comforted by her attitude and it reflected how much she cared...Even to the point of my mom's cremation, she was there and spoke to me as I live all the way in California and was able to be present. Ms Bryant was so kind to coordinate with my daughters that live there in Maryland to receive her ashes and use our urn and even met with my daughter closer to Oxon Hill so my daughter wouldn't have to drive all the way to the funeral home. She kept in contact with me thru out the whole process and always kept me updated. She made it easy for my family with all the details and getting the death certificates, cremation certificates etc. Ms Bryant was nothing short of being an Angel. I'm so glad we chose Genesis among so many others in the area. GOD bless their business and Ms Francine Bryant. read more

Francie Bryant is truly a Angel. Right from the start you could tell she was a caring person. My mind was all over the place. She really took the time to explain everything to me. She was always a phone call away. Oh my God can she sing and pray. She made me feel so at ease. Will I use her again yesssssss. She truly has talented hands. My Aunt looked so Beautiful, we couldn't stop staring at her. Her staff was awesome. My family will be using them again. She offers prebural plans. read more

We called Genesis after the untimely death of a loved one in his early sixties. He had expressed his wishes to be cremated. Handling such matters is always emotional and is even more so with the restrictions of the pandemic. I was lucky to reach Ms. Francine Bryant at Genesis. Ms. Bryant was such a pleasure to speak with. She explained the process and handled everything-- the arrangement of the cremation and obtaining death certificates,-- all in a very caring, efficient and professional manner. I recommend this company and Ms. Bryant very highly! read more

It was a pleasure working with Francine and her staff after the passing of two close family members. She is compassionate, reliable, and personable. I couldn't have dreamed of more competent or compassionate service than what we received from Ms Francine Bryant and Genesis Cremation. I highly recommend Genesis for funeral services. Ms. Francine Bryant is a wonderful director who makes you comfortable and shows compassion throughout the whole process. It was a difficult task and challenge for my sisters and I to lose our mother in 2019 and recently our father. She handled our loved ones with care and they received compliments on their presentation. They both passed during the extremely hot month of July. Ms. Bryant personally ensured they arrived at their burial location in NC without a hitch and in pristine condition. This was even after both had local services in DC. I can assure anyone who hires her will be totally satisfied. She is professional and treats you with the utmost respect. She is knowledgeable about the ins and outs from a business sense as well. It was a pleasure to work with her twice. Our parents were handled with pride by Ms. Bryant. She definitely has high standards and I appreciate her professional and kindhearted demeanor. She was referred to us by a relative, and we are grateful. While cremation is in her business name, it is important to note that she offers quality full-scale funeral services. read more

The entire cremation process went as planned, thanks to Francine. She gave me daily updates to ensure that I know what was happening. Also, I'm glad that she had us go over the death certificate before sending it to the ME (there were some mistakes made by the hospital/doctor). After clarifying everything, the process went smoothly. I would definitely recommend Genesis Cremation to those who need direct cremation. read more

I simply called to get an itemized quote for the funeral home to prepare and transport my loved one, to rent a casket, and cremation; the sales woman was so busy trying to sell me services and casket that she completely missed when I told her we only wanted to rent a casket. She kept over talking me as I tried to tell her what my family needs. I could not get a word in edgewise. They may or may not provide a great funeral service, but I never even got to that point to find out because the public facing person answering the phone was rude and sarcastic. I would rather pay more for compassion and empathy than to pay less to be treated as less. read more

This Funeral home was absolutely fabulous. In a time of pain and heartache, the Funeral Director, Francine Bryant, was caring, compassionate and comforting. After my Moms decline with dementia, she was skin and bones..This funeral home made her look like herself and she even had a smile on her face. If you want a live one to have a proper funeral, contact this funeral home. read more

If you need a cremation in DC go here. Francine is thoughtful, helpful & kind. As it turns out everyone in the DC area goes to the EXACT SAME PLACE to get cremated. So your loved one will follow the same process no matter what, it's the law. So you need a good person and Francine is that. BTW, it seems odd to speak of money when grieving, but no sense in wasting it. There are fancy funeral homes in DC that will charge you up to $8k for a cremation. Francine charges ~$1.5k. That is one of the best deals in DC, at least that is what hospice told us and they were right. read more

If you are looking for simple cremation help -- Genesis is a great choice. Francine was extremely helpful, kind, and professional. She is very knowledgeable and helped walk us through everything we needed to know. Everything about this whole process went exactly as Francine said it would. Francine has a different business model (e.g., not a big staff on the payroll), and Mike G. is right -- there are only a couple of crematoria in the area that all the funeral homes use. When you need this kind of service, it's already a tough time in your life and you just need someone professional, knowledgeable, and reliable. We appreciated Francine and Genesis, very much. (Genesis does accept credit cards, but there is a surcharge, so we just wrote a check.) read more

I was very pleased with the professionalism and kindness shown to my family during that stressful and sad time. I can't say enough about how considerate, responsive and kind Genesis was following the death of my mother. From Ms. Francine, to the gentlemen who came to her house after her death, everyone was highly professional, always helpful, and helped make the entire process of cremation go smoothly and without unnecessary stress. I also would give 10 stars if I could. Anyone in DC who needs funeral and cremation services should call Genesis first. read more

Francine at Genesis Cremation has been wonderful. Very professional yet caring. When my husband died unexpectedly, there were a lot of issues with the coroner's office, family members in 3 states, etc. Francine has gone above and beyond trying to help us sort all of this out, at a very bad time. Blessings on her! read more

If I could, I would give Genesis, and especially Francine, 10 stars. After calling several funeral homes in the DC area to try to arrange direct cremation for my brother-in-Law who was in Hospice in a nursing home in Hyattsville, I was, to say the least, quite frustrated. I was trying to make these arrangements from North Carolina and was amazed at the indifference I experienced from the funeral homes I called. When I saw the reviews on yelp for Genesis, I decided to give Francine a call. I wasn't necessarily completely focused on price, but was delighted to find out she was charging about half the price of the lowest quote I received to do the exact same thing! When we went up to DC to visit with my brother-in-Law for the last time and to make the final arrangements, Francine went out of her way to meet with us in our hotel in downtown DC. From that point on, the process went very smoothly. I don't know what else to say except don't waste your time and money calling any other funeral homes in DC. Make Genesis and Francine your first call. read more

Francine was great to work with on short notice. She arranged the necessary cremation in time for the cemetery service, she was always available (almost 24/7!), and she made everything happen as we wished. She even arranged everything while I was still on the west coast. Plus their prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend them. read more

Genesis Cremation and Francine Bryant provided us with the most stellar cremation services. I am so grateful I discovered them on Yelp. I received fast and efficient service and care at a cost effective price. Such a sad and challenging moment in my life turned into a positive one thanks to Francine's compassion and professionalism. She treated me like a friend with her care and support through the entire process and even afterwards. When I was at an appointment and realized I forgot the funeral bill, I called her and even though she was already on the road well on her way somewhere, she told me to wait where I was and she turned around and drove all the way back to get office (half an hour drive) to fax me the documents. This is more than going beyond and above the call of professional service. This is sheer kindness and I am very grateful to Francine and Genesis Cremation for the continued support and help even five months later. I whole heartedly recommend them. read more

Genesis was one of two cremation services specifically recommended by the chaplain of the major DC hospital where my mother died. I looked at both websites, then called Genesis. Miss Francine was very helpful and knowledgeable, and showed the perfect balance of professionalism and sympathy. She made a difficult process much easier, and the cost of the services was very reasonable. read more

never ever would i recommend genesis cremation and funeral services. Unfortunately there are times when you are not next of kin and even though the next of kin authorized cremation they drop off the face of the earth. I have lived with and loved this man for 14 years. Three non-existent kids are required to sign authorization papers but after that they wash their hands of it. I have been the only one in contact with Ms Bryant and she loves to keep reminding me that Im not the next of kin. As I keep reminding her I am the only one who calls. I found out that the death certificate was indeed issued. She claims she doesnt know. I warn you please dont use this facility unless you like being jerked around. read more
