Cedar Hill Funeral Home And Cemetry

Cedar Hill Funeral Home And Cemetry

We visited Cedar Hill today, hoping to locate and photograph the graves of our grandmother, two…read moreuncles, and one aunt. They had been buried at various times; the most recent death was in 2002. I had called by phone and they said they could help us in the office when we arrived. So I had written down all of the pertinent dates for the four people buried there, and the plot details for one that we knew about. The woman in the office was very pleasant and helpful. She took just a few minutes to research the plot locations. She provided us with two section maps and one overview map of the cemetery. So, we were pleased and optimistic. However, after tramping around for nearly an hour, we were disappointed not to be able to locate any of the markers. It is a big cemetery. The majority of flat memorial markers in the one section where we were looking for three people were covered with weeds, grass, or leaves. Some of the markers on the ground were accumulating trash that had blown around. I'm sure they mow some, but the grass was high. And clearly, weed whacking does not happen, maybe due to the size of the place or inadequate resources and staff. We saw a family unloading tools from their car (brooms, clippers) to maintain their family graves. If the family has not been around to maintain graves, they can be covered up and hard to find.

Mr. Morgan even took us on an informative tour of the area that we had purchased over a year ago. However it is sad & disappointing to see that the mausoleum is in need of repairs. Mr. Morgan gets a 5 star rating, but the cemetery it self gets a 3 to 4 star rating due to the need for maintenance/repairs.

Horton funeral Service they will try and do take advantage of the…read morefamily and charge your love ones an additional 1,000.00 to have your love one service on a Saturday after the arrangements have been already fully paid for in advance of your love one passing. Examine the prepaid contract if they insist on getting the additional $1,000.00 well pay them for what they have done and have your love one picked up from Hortons by the new funeral home and taken to the other funeral home that will respect you get a refund from Hortons and this part is "important" get the new funeral home to order your casket. Remember "You" are in charge of your deceased family member not the funeral home. It's totally unnecessary to rip off family members handling the arrangements for an additional 1,000.00 pocket money for the funeral home to handle your loved ones after prearrangements has already been made and "paid for". Also if the removal person shows up to your residence to remove your loved one dressed inappropriately with a hoodie on and casual baggy pants like he's going to a ball game "as a representative of the funeral home" send him away call the funeral Home or another funeral home and "demand" someone that will respect your home and your family that will show up dressed appropriately with at least dress slacks and a decent shirt casual or dress shoes and don't accept them requesting your help to remove your loved one from your residence they should come prepared with two people remember you're paying for this proper service and you tell the funeral home what time to come to your residence to pick up your loved one if you're waiting for other family members to come to your home before your love one is removed from your residence generally they come automatically within 90 minutes but if you need more time let them know when you call to notify them of the passing of your loved one. .

The only thing that was a issue for me was that when first sitting down to meet with someone a piece of paper was just sat in front of my face with no real directions or questions being asked to what I would like to see. If you are helping someone with planning while they are grieving or suffered a loss it is very confusing to just sit down and look at a paper with no real guidance or direction. The other issue I had was we paid for a service and it wasn't provided in the time that we previously discussed. Other than that the workers are very respectful upbeat and polite. A little on the pricey side but still decent.

They didn't get her body when they said they would. They made us re-identify her weeks later when she had already been identified. They took one month to cremate her... Talk about traumatizing. I highly advise that you go elsewhere. Giving two stars for the facilitation of services like an ad in the paper and ordering death certificates.

I was told transportation would be sent to pick up my husband's body from the hospital. I later learned this did not happen because I was given conflicting information about when release paperwork needed to be signed. Twenty-four hours passed, and his body was still not picked up. During this stressful time, the customer service I received made the situation harder. I was spoken to in a dismissive tone and was told "it doesn't work like that," instead of receiving clear guidance or support. The consultant did not offer condolences, empathy, or patience. I felt blamed for their miscommunication and left feeling even more overwhelmed. Losing a loved one is painful. Families deserve compassion, accurate information, and respectful service. Because of the lack of care, confusion, and poor treatment, I made the decision to go elsewhere. I hope no other grieving family experiences what I did.

This place was a joke!…read more My father became gravely ill, and I was forced to make funeral arrangements. I started researching funeral homes, and Pope's was at the top of my list, mainly because it is located in my neighborhood. I called and spoke to Mr. Whitney, who was extremely helpful over the phone. I decided to stop by to view the D.C. location, and I have never felt so uncomfortable and disrespected in my entire life. The receptionist did not seem knowledgable about the practice or the facility. However, I informed her that I had already spoken to someone over the phone, and I wanted to view the chapel and to ask a few additional questions. She advised me to have a seat, and she asked Mr. Keith Savage if he could speak with me, and he seemed to have an attitude. He asked her if "I had an appointment and If my loved one had already passed" She informed him I did not have an appointment and that I was just seeking information. I heard him huff and puff and responded, " I only have 10 minutes for him". He eventually came to speak with me and rushed me, advising me to come back once my loved one had passed. - so unprofessional! After viewing the chapel, I was extremely disappointed. The place was gloomy and outdated. I was advised to visit the District Heights location, and while the outside and lobby were updated, again, the chapel was not. I decided to move forward with another funeral home. This establishment was extremely unprofessional, lacked compassion, lacked professionalism, and needs to be updated! They seemed to only care about money and not about customer service. I would NOT recommend it.

If it's someone other than Ms. Williams you may receive very good, friendly compassionate service and proper treatment of your loved ones remains. If its her her the service will be subpar. The body will be disfigured, not slightly resembling your family member. She will do absolutely nothing for you except to say hello. She and other lady barely spoke to us. They didn't know how to setup the video, failed to to turn on the mike and light next to the podium. We had to figure out everything for ourselves. The prices are greatly out of line with the services received. Because of my initial appointment and few interactions with other people there I gave it two stars, but don't be deceived those people may not be available and you will be stuck with unpleasant and incompetent staff supposedly helping you when you are most vulnerable.
