Wow! What a difference. I took my new-to-me 2001 BMW Z3 to Gene's to see what they could do about the horrible, droning aftermarket exhaust the car came with. My 04 acura tl came lowered when I purchased it and I wanted the car this way because I am a car enthusiast and i host events and co host car meets and shows in los angeles county and high desert areas. Long story short my TL sounded quiet like the breeze and I needed some sound in my life. Long story short I took my vehicle were my brother recommended in el monte but that didnt work out too well. Parking is very difficult to find in their lot and didn't do the job right and paid $150 to get my resonator and muffflers deleted for some sound and it sounds great. But to my surprise when I went home the muffler tips were no where near the end of bumper as before. That sucks. So today I was looking around the area of Downey and found Genes Muffler! Gave me a great quote and the turn around time was swift. He replaced anything that was put on incorrectly by the previous shop and did the job right the 1st time. Brought our 2020 Durango 5.7 liter in with our new Stainless Works exhaust for Greg and Adrian to install. Took less than 2 hrs as we showed up early at 9 a.m. and were their first customers. .Adrian did a great job, he listens to any concerns you may have while installing the exhaust. Brought my 67 Camaro project to Gene's. I met with Greg and explained what I wanted. I supplied him with two electric cutouts and two mufflers, he did the rest. Greg talked me into going with and X-Pipe rather than an H-Pipe since my engine has a large camshaft. He informed me some motors with big cams break the welds on H-Pipes. This review is a long time coming. It is rare today to get great service but even more rare to find it at a fair and reasonable price. Gene's has been working on my cars since I was a teenager and I am now 55 years old. They did the exhaust on my first car back in the 80's, a 1968 Mustang and then over the years have worked on every car I have owned that needed exhaust work. Most recently over the last several years they did custom exhaust on my 58 Impala and 75 Scout II. There is no one better out there in my opinion. Old school service that you just don't find anymore. This place is lengen....wait for it....dary! They've done work on several of my cars through the past 20+ years I've done business with them. They've done work for me from my little Dodge hatchback, to my '65 Mustang, to my '74 Plymouth Duster. Mos recently, the Duster has a custom mandrel bent (that's important - the only shop that I know of with a mandrel bender!!!!) x-pipe exhaust. It sounds awesome! Their work is top notch and they don't give you any BS! It doesn't matter if it's a daily driver passenger car or a hot rod, they can serve your exhaust repair needs. read more

I want to give a well deserved review for this wonderful shop! My Dad's 2013 Ford Taurus had his engine light on and was told by a mechanic the code p0430 bank 2 and to take it to a muffler shop that does that catalytic converters done right since they don't do it. We went to a couple of muffler shops and was told a ridiculous amount to have it fixed and never told us any other options. I decided to give Gene's Muffler a call based on Yelp reviews and I'm so glad I did! I spoke to a man named Greg and he told some estimate and was told that there's no more or rather harder to find an aftermarket for replacement part. Since it is very expensive, Greg gave us an option to try and save the catalytic converter. So my Dad went to the shop that same day and Greg performed himself of fixing the car and when it's done my Dad was so surprised that he was told it is okay (not sure what he did and how he fixed the car) and he didn't even let my dad pay any dues! I know his service is not free and we appreciate it so much since we don't encounter a lot of people like Greg nowadays. My Dad is very thankful to have found this place and such a blessing to work with Greg, he is a great honest person! He definitely earned our trust and our business if we need any help in our car with this issues! I highly recommend this place and to all my friends and relatives! Thank you Greg!
