That said, the entryway didn't look too inviting and appears to be a relic of a bygone era when this hotel was a classier place. However, upon entry, I did get a very welcoming greeting and was promptly seated. The server was cheerful and took my drink order and welcomed me to help myself to the buffet. The dining room appeared to be jaded, but there was a TV which was showing the New Orleans Saints football game when I was there. The buffet itself was a little bit on the smaller side, with two hot food bars and one cold one. However, there was also a stir-fry station and sushi. The food appeared to be fresh, but were the basic offerings from a typical Asian buffet. There were crab legs but they did not look very appetizing. However, the frog legs and the chicken wings were fresh out of the deep fryer when I was there, and were probably the best items on the buffet. Staff regularly tended to the buffet to ensure that it stayed fresh and my server made sure my drink was always filled. There is a freezer in the front filled with little single-serving cups of ice cream that reminded me of the school cafeteria when I was in grade school. The buffet is a bit on the pricey side compared to others of the same caliber. However, the service is excellent which it why I gave it 4 stars instead of three. The King Buffet is a little bit out of the way for me, but I would consider going back the next time I am in Jennings.

The place was a bit dark (where we sat) and somewhat run down, especially the women's bathroom. The food was warm, fair selection of sushi that was included in the price. Hostess too busy on her cell phone to talk to you. I wanted to know how it works, price, etc. Same attitude when I went to pay. It's only noon so you would think the food would be hot and fresh, it's not. Sushi is dry and crunchy rice. Shrimp are over boiled. Wontons are chewy not crunchy. Sad looking lo mein. Everything else was cold. Only saving grace is when they brought fresh green beans. Those were good! Don't go here. Ever.

The only thing that I did not like was the limited variety of dishes--there are only about three rolls of hot plates with a Mongolian grill and small dessert station. There were also very limited sushi options and the seafood is non-existent. There is also no fresh fruit at the dessert station so just keep that in mind when looking at future dining options. With all that said, the chicken dishes were absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed the fried bananas and lo mein noodles.
