No student pilot's journey is the same so my recommendation to everyone is to not compare or assume that your student will be ready within a certain amount of hours. Progressing through the course will be different and some phases will take longer. Financially, PPL will usually take the longest for students looking to make this a career. Stay the course and Corsair will know when your student is ready for each stage check. A big shout out to Aleksa for taking our guy under his wing. Not only was extremely knowledgeable, he was also super fun to train with...he did a great job of sharing interesting stories making the experience even more memorable. He was also kind enough to take photos for us prior to getting on the plane. I love that I was able to walk beside them from the training to the actual flight time. If it's available I highly recommend paying for the extended trip so you can fly over LA, the Hollywood sign and other cool spots. Also make sure you bring cash so you can tip instructor I only had $35 on me and really would have preferred to tip at least $50. Thank you US Aviators for a fabulous experience!!!

Reggie, our instructor, was very professional, courteous, easy-going, and friendly. He definitely made us feel safe and comfortable, as I'm sure the fear was mostly for him, flying with two complete strangers. But he did go over all the rules, do's and do not's of our tour, with was reassuring to us that he certainly knows what he's doing. With that said, we taxi'd for maybe 10 min until we finally got up in the air. It was fairly windy but with his experience and knowledge, he was able to fly us up safely as we followed the 405 towards Santa Monica. The view was amazing and I had a smile from ear-to-ear. Reggie showed us "historic" landmarks like DTLA. Santa Monica Pier, Catalina Island, which is all a cool experience to see from when you're up in the air. He also told us about the "extended flight", which I will be sure to do on my next visit. We did a few figure 8's and then returned to the airport. He was very attentive to our surroundings, making sure air traffic was clear around us. In addition to the flight, I also got to play around with the flight simulator. Watched a short video and Reggie explained the dynamics of flight. Overall, a GREAT experience that I will most definitely repeat and request for Reggie. The folks at Channel Islands Aviation were extremely kind and helpful. The customer service manager Alice arranged a hotel room for me and made sure that I received the 17% room discount provided to their clients. She also loaned me a phone charger for the night and had one of the linemen drive me to the hotel at no charge whatsoever. I cannot speak highly enough of their service and the atmosphere of the business. Top-notch all around. His instructor Darien allowed me to sit in the backseat and tag along for the lesson. It was such a great experience!! Darien was really knowledgeable, a great instructor and made the whole experience really fun and very memorable. From my experience, I would highly recommend getting your lessons from Darien and at Clipper in general. Their facilities are clean, everyone there is friendly and they take really good care of their planes. For all new pilots definitely check out the Cirrus! Such an amazing plane.
