Clipper Aviation is the best! Love training with the Instructors and the facilities are top notch! I'm working on getting my PPL and started with very little experience in aviation. My instructor (Riese), and secondary instructors (Alex G, Zach G), not only make my training fun, informative, and educational but also are helping build my confidence and skills in becoming a great general aviation pilot! I highly recommend Clipper Aviation for all you pilot training needs if you're interested and enthusiastic about the Aviation Industry and community! read more

I'm not a student at Clipper but my friend Omar is getting his instrument rating there and suggested I come along for one of his lessons. His instructor Darien allowed me to sit in the backseat and tag along for the lesson. It was such a great experience!! Darien was really knowledgeable, a great instructor and made the whole experience really fun and very memorable. From my experience, I would highly recommend getting your lessons from Darien and at Clipper in general. Their facilities are clean, everyone there is friendly and they take really good care of their planes. For all new pilots definitely check out the Cirrus! Such an amazing plane. read more

I'm not usually one to write reviews, but my experience with Clipper Aviation was so special and significant that I feel compelled to share it. This is my second review here, except now I am actually a Pilot. Maybe someone reading this will get the chance to experience it too. After 18 months of juggling flight training with a full-time job (and trust me, it was a challenge), I can confidently say that the main reason my training was such a success is 100% due to the incredible team at Clipper Aviation, their fantastic planes, and most importantly--my one of a kind instructor. If you're looking for a flight instructor who makes you feel like you're actually learning how to fly and not just hoping for the best when you take off, look no further than Nipun at Clipper Aviation. I can't thank him enough for being both an incredible teacher and a saint. First off, the guy actually cares about making you a SAFE pilot, which, I mean, kinda important, right? I definitely didn't appreciate that enough in the beginning, but after a few "spirited" sessions where we went over the same lessons again...and again...and again, I got the picture. Nipun was patient (like, incredibly patient) and never once made me feel like an idiot when I couldn't remember the difference between a To and a From on a VOR.(spoiler: I still mix them up sometimes) lol. And speaking of nightmares-- Nav logs? I was this close to burning my textbooks, but Nipun walked me through them like a pro, and somehow, we made it work. He's the kind of instructor who will patiently explain things 10 different ways until it clicks. And when it does finally click? It's like the clouds part and the sun comes out. It's magical. If you want an instructor who cares, has patience, and somehow makes the complicated stuff fun (yes, fun), Nipun is your guy. I survived VORs, I survived Nav logs, and with Nipun's help, I'll survived my check ride. I even felt over prepared. Nipun is the best, you won't regret it, and you'll be a much safer pilot for it. 10/10 would recommend. A few more names to mention at Clipper that have made significant impact on my training: Zach and Tara who kicked my a** right before the checkride, will always remember that. Jade, who somehow always finds my weak areas and drills me till my head spins. Paula and Jason at the front, always smiling and willing to help. Emma - you rock! read more

Clipper Aviation - Flight Instruction Near Me - Van Nuys, California

Have been using both JJ and Alex for lessons towards my VFR and IFR, and I can confidently say that I am extremely pleased with the quality of education that I have been receiving at this school. The instructors are extremely patient, which is vital when you are in a position that is dependent on safety. Additionally, I never leave any lesson feeling like I was not challenged to my maximum depths. This is the type of school where you are going to come to learn, feel challenged and be expected to not just "pass," but to excel. It is evident that the instructors are very passionate about what they do because of the amount of time they spend in making sure that you are beyond competent in the material that was taught that day. And of course, let's not miss the fact that flying is the most amazing experience ever. If you are on the same page as me, you will definitely experience a good time here. Enjoy! read more

Clipper Aviation - Lesson to Mammoth Lakes, CA - Flight Instruction Near Me - Van Nuys, California

Rented N79KW from Clipper Aviation for a trip up the CA coastline with one of my friends who is an avid flyer! Booked for about 7 hours total. The rental process through Clipper was super seamless and the office was extremely helpful when I called about various options and pricing. Check in was also really straight forward and the aircraft was truly in prime, first class condition. When coming back into Van Nuys after our trip, we also saw some of their other aircraft options and I must say that Clipper does have the youngest and nicest Cirrus fleet I've ever witnessed! Definitely check them out for aircraft rentals and flying lessons/instruction if you're in the area! read more

It was amazing experience with very professional instructor JJ. It was one hour beautiful flight over Malibu and hills around. The whole flight I had control the plane except landing. This experience gave me even more desire to get a pilot's license. read more

I am a student pilot with hours on a Cessna 172S, but have always wanted to experience a Cirrus. So, I booked a discovery flight with Clipper and it was amazing! JJ took the time with me to explain the Cirrus SR22 and answered all my questions and taught me things I didn't know. He emphasized safety and having fun - which I did! Their Cirrus planes are top of the line (the Bentley of single engine planes) and so fast! If you are looking for a modern, safe, and fun place to go exploring the skies, this is your place! read more

After booking several discovery flights with multiple flights schools, I came across Clipper Aviation. The discovery flight for Clippers was by far the best, and I decided from there that Clipper Aviation was going to be the school that I would attend. The fleet that they have is amazing and very well maintained! I want to thank Chris, who is currently my CFI, for being an amazing instructor. He does a great job in explaining the material, and has always answered any questions that I've had. Everyone in Clipper Aviation has been very kind and welcoming, and I would recommend this school to anyone wanting to learn how to fly. read more

For anyone interested in aviation.... THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE! I came across Clipper aviation when I met the chief and assistant chief certified instructors Alexander Gornakov and J.J. Gutowski! Their professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for my success and safety in and out of the plane are just a few of the reasons why Clipper aviation surpasses any other flight school in Los Angeles. Clipper is equipped with an incredible state of the art fleet! Including the best looking and best maintained Cirrus aircraft at Van Nuys airport. Join the ONLY community/family oriented flight school in KVNY! P.s: Currently a few hours away from my solo, wish me good luck :) read more

Ive put in about 20 hrs of PPL training here and they really take great care of the planes. The avionics are all up to date glass panels, cosmetically they keep up with the planes and the office area is really tidy. I've been working with CFI's Michael S. and Chris F. they have been a great team pushing me through my fears and showing me how to gain confidence as a student pilot. I really enjoy working with them and can't wait for my next lesson! read more

Whether you're a first timer or a hardcore aviation enthusiast, Clipper Aviation has something for you. In a relatively short time they've managed to build not only an incredible fleet of aircraft and superb training program, but also a community where everyone is passionate about aviation. Having flown with pretty much all of the instructors at Clipper, I can safely say that their company culture of safety, professionalism, and top notch education is firmly ingrained in each member of the Clipper family. They genuinely care about their clients, the aircraft, and go above and beyond to make sure that every experience is exceptional. From instrument and commercial training to a tailwheel endorsement (their Xtreme Decathlon is awesome!), Clipper has helped me become the best and safest pilot I can be. I have no hesitation taking my family along with me in their aircraft, knowing that safety is their highest priority in education and aircraft rental. Anyone can rent you a plane and teach you to fly. But if you're looking for the best instruction and aircraft, look no further, call Clipper. read more

Took my son on a discovery flight and the whole experience was great! Their customer service reps when booking the flight were very nice and helpful and the instructor Riese was really great with my 10 year old son... overall an awesome flight and experience. Highly recommended! read more

Clipper Aviation truly provides the most top notch experience for anyone looking to get started in aviation. To their top of the notch facilities, charismatic instructors, and incredible fleet; Clipper has it all. The glass panels and avionics are all refurnished whilst also holding a high level of responsibility on their aircraft maintenances. The instructors infiltrate much care in the development of your time at the school and the knowledge you are left with upon departing. A shoutout as well to Riese and Zach for being undeniably well educated and professional in their lessons. If you or anyone you know has been hesitant on choosing a flight school, take this as one of the best options (if not the) in the SF valley. read more

I've been very please with my experience at Clipper. Darien E is an excellent instructor. He is very experienced, and puts great time and thought into tailoring your training to you specifically. He is also a very patient teacher, and his passion for providing quality instruction is apparent during each lesson! read more

I recently booked an introductory flight lesson at Clipper Aviation and I have to say, I'm hooked! The offices are clean, uber modern and the staff were welcoming, friendly and professional. My instructor Jeffrey had more nerves than myself because he somehow trusted me to let me take off and land myself. Yes he helped me a bit (okay a lot) but the Cirrus we flew was probably the nicest general aviation plane I've been with. My ride (I don't know how long it was but it felt like 45 min to maybe an hour) had air conditioning, all the latest bells and whistles for an airplane, including satellite radio to listen to music and live weather and traffic updates. It even had air bags and a parachute to help me feel even safer. Jeffrey was kind, patient, personable, answered all my questions and never made me feel as if I knew nothing. I'd strongly recommend Clipper Aviation and Jeffrey if you want to fly nothing but the best equipment and airplanes flight training has to offer. read more

I have had my private pilot certificate since 1992. After having flight training throughout the years I finally found the right team and school to facilitate my IFR training. I spent the last year traversing Los Angeles and the valley looking for a place to begin flight training while I gathered my proper funding. I was looking for three things: planes that felt and actually were safe, friendly people, but also a sense of class that would make me feel welcome as a queer person in a notoriously conservative world. I scheduled a discovery flight with Chris in the SR20 and instantly knew I wanted to pursue the carrier change I had been planning and dreaming about. The program is tailored to the student, their wants, needs, limitations, and aspirations. As a teacher of over 10 years myself, I feel taken care of, catered to, safe, but always challenged to do my best. I can not recommend this school enough; you truly get what you pay for in terms of quality, service, and community. read more

So my wife surprised me for Valentines Day with a discovery flight at Clipper Aviation, since I've been talking about getting my private pilots license. Didn't know what to expect, being they were a new company. Let me tell you, what a spectacular experience!!! First we were met by Asher, one of their flight instructors, because the flight instructor we were scheduled to fly with was in the air. He showed us around the office, and what an awesome space, it was clean, well organized, it even had a mini lounge with snacks for clients. Next Asher took us to the simulator room where they had two state of the art simulators. I was excited when I found out we'd be flying a Cirrus, a 2021 Cirrus Sr20 G6. Cirrus became my dream plane, since I've been researching on getting my license. Wow, brand new plane. We walked back to the office where we met our flight instructor Parsa, he was a awesome guy, he showed us the poster of the cockpit, and went over some safety instructions. Next we sat at one of the desks to talk about our flight plan, once finalized we headed out to the airplane. The plane was a beauty. Brand new. We loaded up and took off. It was a busy day in LA since it was the day after the Super Bowl, so the skies were congested. We took a flight around the Hollywood sign. Once we headed out of LA and into Malibu I was able to take the controls. Parsa is a great instructor. He was patient with me and gave me some great lessons for being my first time in a private plane. Well, all I can say is I'm hooked, addicted to aviation. Thanks Clipper Aviation for sparking the fire. The aviation bug is real, the last few days I've been racking my brain, on how I can afford to get my license because I had such a great experience with Clipper Aviation. I will definitely be using them in my journey to get my private pilots license and surly be using them to rent once I get my license, because they have a new, and well maintained fleet, and I love the Cirrus. Again, thanks for the awesome experience. I would recommend to anyone, even if you are not thinking about getting a license, it's just nice to get up and see LA from a different perspective. read more

Clipper Aviation's Zack Gunner is an outstanding instructor. I recently returned to aviation after years away, during which I let all my certifications lapse. I have about 3150 hours, including 2000 multi of which 1000 is turboprop. I hold an ATP multi-engine land, and commercial single, and rotorcraft helicopter. I have flown part 135 and part 121 for a commuter airline. I once held a CFI, CFII, MEI, and CFI rotorcraft helicopter and now need to take a check ride to reinstate them. I needed to refresh my skills. All that to say I have had many instructors through my career, running the gamut from poor to outstanding. Zack Gunner is one of the most outstanding instructors I have met! On his first lesson with a student, Zack assesses the student's skill and knowledge level and develops a personalized curriculum. After each lesson, Zack gives a verbal critique and then sends a detailed email with each point covered in the training. He details what was acceptable and where improvement is needed. He includes FAA documents as well as other literature and helpful videos of the topics to review. I have never seen any instructor in the aviation industry go to such lengths to present a clear program of study. Thanks Zack! read more

I looked at a number of flight schools at Van Nuys airport and ended up giving Clipper Aviation a call. Boy am I glad that I did. From the very first call, their entire staff has been amazing, friendly, helpful and, most importantly, engaged. I won the instructor lottery when I was paired up with Supreet Wahi. This dude is nothing short of brilliant. He is so passionate about being an instructor, teaching and sharing the joy of aviation. I have learned so much so far and I can only imagine of all the things he is going to continue to show me as I progress through my aviation journey. I highly recommend Supreet as an instructor at Clipper - you will not be disappointed! read more

I wish I started with my flight training with Clipper instead of Cirrus' training center at Mach 1. I switched to Clipper after 30 flight hours, and I am very glad that I didn't stay with Mach 1. First of all, I don't see any old or beaten up aircrafts at Clipper. I prefer to learn on the newest and most advanced aircrafts if I am paying the same amount of time and money into getting a private license. Clipper also offer free ground school and seminar for members. I got all my "ground school" training while flying an airplane at Mach 1, and that's why I didn't learn much after recording 30 hours of flight time. Also, Mach 1 just asked me to fly to Santa Barbara, Victorville or far away to practice simple manures. For the same amount of flight time, I get to practice a lot more at Clipper, since we spent most time learning to fly, not flying far to learn. The facility at Clipper is spacious and modern, and that makes flying more enjoyable. Since Clipper has REAL ground school, so I actually learned a lot more about the theory and technique. I get to ask questions and take note when I am not flying an airplane. Clipper is a professional flight school should be, too bad that I went to Cirrus training center instead and wasted a lot of time and money. read more

I booked the discovery flight on the Cirrus SR20 for my 15 yo son who has dreams of being a pilot. His instructor, Parsa, did an excellent job preparing him for the flight and was supportive, encouraging, and inspired confidence. I got to go along for the flight which was AMAZING. The views as we flew over Malibu were spectacular. The price was very reasonable for the experience. I highly recommend for fun or if you or someone you loves aspires to be a pilot. read more
