Key points: - All about sales and in-house financing - Service department did not do as we asked but 'checked' that they had - Rude to us in person and on the phone - Our brand new camper was filthy dirty when delivered - A few hours of watching online videos and we knew more about the trailer than the salesperson - Salesperson tried to convince us that the trailer awning half open was in fact correct - Incorrectly noted the lending institution which COST our credit union money to correct the title. IT MUST BE HOOKED UP TO THE VEHICLE. He crossed the chains ONLY after I asked the service person to do it. It was pouring rain when we went to pick up our camper after "service", which, to note again, did not have the work completed they said they did. I'd leave zero stars if that was an option. We purchased our RV in Jan 2022, we took it our for one long trip and did around 7K miles. We had a few issues nothing major. We were sold this extended warranty and told it covered us from top to bottom and everything in between. However that's not the case, we have a broken window frame that won't stay closed in transit, but we are having to pay out of pocket to repair. All the hinges need some kind of fix or repair because they are just crappy and every door won't close or stay shut. The microwave surround cracked due to lack of proper support and a know coachmen issue, yet again not covered. What did we pay all this money for a warranty when only "replaceable parts are covered". The service department has been nothing short of a run around. I don't get a call back ever, I call leave messages, emails nothing. Mike in the service department need more help or someone else to update customers. When speaking with the manager Jim apparent they are short staffed. I'll call for an update which they should be updating me. 3-5 days later I'll get a call back then with no real update. Now apparently waiting 4-6 wks for window? The first two week was "review of the rv" to get approvals for coverage and warranty yet they are now only covering one part. All just a rip off. They've had our RV a month now and still no idea when it will be done. At this point makes me wonder if something happened to our rig. Worst customer service ever!!! Buyer beware!!! They make the buying experience seem amazing and tell you how if you need help with anything give them a call and they will be happy to help or get you to who can help. What a joke!!! My husband and I bought a new camper from them in May 2023. 3 weeks later we took it for our first camping trip. When we rolled out our canopy we notice there were a few small slits in the canopy where it connects to the camper roof. We then saw that we were not able to shut the camper screen door without also shutting the outside door because the hinges on screen door are not aligned correctly to catch the door frame and hold it shut. We weren't worried as we were told just call us. Well we called several times with no answer. Then called several more times and was told they would call us back. On our last call last fall we were told they would have to order a new canopy and that they had other campers with the same problem and there must have been a bad batch. We never heard anything again so we started calling again and finally this week spoke with a lady who said she had all our information of our calls and what we needed and admitted that no one ever followed up with it. She also said that the person who took our info is now the manager. Really!?!? So she told my husband someone would definitely be calling him the next day. No one called my husband back. He had to call them again and spoke with Jeff the Manager who told him that we need to check with the manufacture to see if the warranty will cover. Really?!?! I mean if you had answered the phones or called me or my husband back in the last year my warranty would not be an issue. General RV you should have to pay the cost since you refused to call back and correct the issue in a timely manner. read more

Service at the Wayland, MI location is terrible. Nobody will call you back. They sell the crap out of the keep you camping program and then they won't let you bring the trailer in until 3 weeks out for a major leak. We thought keep you camping meant that they'll take you in for an urgent fix at any time and get you back on the road to camping. Voice messages don't get returned, and when you're told that they'll talk to a manager and call you back and they don't gets a little irritating. 0 stars for customer service once they make that sale and get you out the door. read more

We have been RV'ers since 2014. Traveled extensively and have used multiple vendors for repairs in various States. Our Entegra window failed to close which is a pretty big deal since you can't go driving down the highway with a glass window flopping about. It was Sunday and no shops were answering until we reached General RV in Weyland, MI. Ben gave us great directions and we were able to park overnight in the lot. Mike helped us the next day and reviewed the options. We were amazingly lucky they had the part in stock and we were back on the road that day. Everyone we encountered in this location was super friendly, from the greeters, to the service schedulers, to the parts department, to the driver that took the vehicle back to the bay, and the repair tech. I only wish I lived here as they would be my "go to" shop for service. The customer lounge was comfortable with a variety of seating options. The store was very well stocked with a great selection of hardware and plumbing items I had not seen at other big box shops. Mike and his team exceeded all expectations! read more

I normally like to post good reviews on businesses and unfortunately this will not be one of those times. The day we went to buy our pop up camper, we had a great experience, everyone was very friendly and helpful and we were very excited to start camping! After our purchase, we were promised that our camper would be cleaned and made sure everything was in correctly working and "safe" condition. We even paid over $1300 for this according to the contract! This however was not the case. When we arrived a week later to pick up our camper we were met with someone who was to show us everything about our camping, including how everything worked, how to set it up, and how to tear it down. This gentlemen was very nice, but he did not know anything about our camper at all. He didn't know how to turn off the furnace, turn on the air conditioning, didn't know where anything was on the camper and had to go and ask his fellow coworkers on multiple occasions how to work things. We found that the fire alarm was not working and needed batteries, the fridge was not working, a water seal was broken on the door, the propane tank was held on by a ratchet strap, the bars to hold the beds up were not in places and the safety bars were not on while we were in the camper, nor could they even find them when asked where they were (HUGE safety issue). My husband had to search for them and they ended up being in a PVC pipe under the camper. It seemed to us and the guy helping us like our camper was not inspected at all. When asked if they had documentation of the inspection, they said they did but we never seen it. It just seemed like we would move on to the next thing and we would find another thing wrong. When we asked what happened, one person said their "new guy" was on and didn't know what he was doing and someone else said it was a "he said he did it" type of thing. The ball was dropped big time and all we got out of it was that "this type of thing never happens." So pretty much we wasted our time and had to pretty much do our own inspection because nothing was done. Everything did eventually get fixed, but we were there for far longer than expected and nothing to make up for it. Just thought paying to have it inspected was a waste. read more

Paid over $1,900. for prep and feel I got totally ripped off. I was told that this was to make sure everything was in good working order and ready to go. My wife pointed out that the Bathroom and bedroom doors did not latch. Was told that that would be fixed. Picked up the unit and was told it was ready to take home. Got home and the doorknobs did not work, water inlet almost totally clogged, one of the dining chairs had no bottom, chairs were not strapped down, TV not strapped down, closest doors not secured, fuse door not secured, brand new AC unit in bedroom only blows out on one side. Called with my concerns and got passed all around. Called again and their solution was to reimburse me for the doorknobs I bought. Worse experience I have ever had. read more

We purchased a motor home in 18 from general and there were issues and questions we had with use and operation of the unit. At that time I was very disappointed with the lack of help I received. They wouldn't answer any questions I had but would do it with a big smile on their face which was even more frustrating. So I was reluctant to buy from them again but after some research I found that all the big dealers are like this. So we purchased another one recently and to my surprise it has been a very good experience. From Craig in sales right through the closing. Now anyone who has ever owned one of these knows there are going to be things that need to be fixed or at least questions answered and I have to say that Jim in service has been exceptional. My experience wasn't good we had a fantastic salesman, good people with financing, from that point everything went downhill we had issues that they wouldn't fix one being an exterior storage compartment door that was damaged before it was delivered. The next thing was a furrion back up camera on my RV That would not work with my truck 2022 Silverado HD. They were unaware that there was a problem I had to inform them of it after two phone calls to service with no phone calls being returned to me I took it upon myself to find the fix for this. me being a first time RV owner they sold me things I found out later that were worthless from the water pressure regulator to the sewer hose the list goes on they gave me a $200 spending spree and recommended junk. So I would not recommend them at all! In all honesty every time we had an issue we ended up calling Anthony our sales person he was great he continually had to work through the problems with service honestly my wife and myself got tired of having to do this he did a good job they dropped the ball after that I couldn't be more disappointed. They tried to blame us for the problem with the water heater , after replacing the water heater and having the same problem I was told by Jim from alliance that I was the problem and that if a service man came back out that he wanted me to stay away from him while he was working. The service man that was here and I got along fine along with his friend that came they understood what I was talking about and agreed with me. I've bought a lot of products in my life and I've never had this many problems with one. Service department has issues of not listening to the customer I've had this problem several times and won't be returning. They replaced my furnace last year and now have a draw on my battery my solar panel can't keep up with and they want to charge me to do a battery inspection when the battery stays charged as long as I keep the main turned off, I've had many problems with the electric on this and they only fixed half of them because they don't listen and fix they primary complaint I've learned to buy my next RV close to home no point driving an Hour to find out they didn't fix all the issues read more

Don't let the Winnebago name fool you and after the sale if final you now become a nuisance and customer service will ignore your calls and will give broken promises. The worst experience and purchase of my life. We purchased a brand new 2022 travel trailer, and this unit didn't even go through a quality check before they handed it over to us. We were first time trailer owners and felt very fortunate to be able to own a Winnebago. After all the water leaks, (we fixed), drawers not completely installed, (we fixed), water heater not working, we endured a year of trying to find out what was wrong with the heater and the slide out which kept breaking down. Vents were all full of construction debris and the list goes on.... After finally finding out what the issue was with the heater, we thought we finally now have the perfect trailer only to have the slide-out break again. This time they found the entire structure bowed and it had to be towed to Indiana from Arizona for the repairs. Of the 1.5 years of ownership, the trailer was in the shop for approximately 8 months total. We were reimbursed 1 month of storage fees. Thankfully the warranties paid for every issue we had. We no longer own this trailer and if we ever consider buying one it will never be Winnebago. read more

Extremely disappointed in this place from the time we purchased our RV to the service that we had today. They dont return phone calls. I had reported problems with our RV, no mention of this anywhere in their files. Expensive repairs. When I stood at the service desk, no one said a word, and there were 4 associates standing there. I asked, and rudely was directed to the man at the end of the counter. I was there 5 hours, after 3 1/2 hours I asked for an update. I was rudely told that it takes time. We've took our RV for exterior repair. The communication and customer service is amazing!

We were misled and misinformed when we purchased a New motorhome at General RV in Wixom. We were told it had features that it did not have. We told them what we needed for towing capacity and what our needs were in an RV. The salesperson did not keep in mind our needs when showing us this RV. It does not fit our needs and does not have the options we requested and were told it had. This RV is not safe to travel in, how can a business sell an unsafe vehicle. From day one pulling out of the dealership we had items flying off, and realized items were damaged and not working correctly. A few days later we took it into General RV in Wayland for repairs. We waited all day and nothing had been fixed. They said it was safe to use. Then after having it only a month there were numerous additional issues with the RV along with the earlier issues that caused it to be unsafe. They did not call to schedule an appointment for repairs as told. We finally got it in for a second time to get items fixed. This time we were told it was fixed except for 2 items that they were waiting on the company to help address. When we went in to see the repairs again it was not true! There were many items still not repaired. They have had the RV for over 6 weeks now and have not completed the repairs. They have terrible communication. They do not respond to our requests. When we have called or emailed they say they will look into it and call back and they do not call back. The "Keep you camping" promise is not true. We have had a terrible experience all around. Went to price a trailer. When all done many $$$ Items were tacked on to the price of the trailer, like $2200 for trailer, prep Then $1100 for this and that. Even a fee to show me how to set up trailer. Forget this ripoff dealer. Went to another rv dealer in grand Rapids, better price and no add on $$$. General reminded me of days when car dealers added on undercoating, dealer prep etc. Avoid general rv like the Plague. And their price was $4000 more for the similar trailer. read more

Purchased a used RV. Our sales person treated us like we were buying a brand new trailer. The rest of the staff we had interaction with was very friendly as well. The downside- we were told ALL systems in the trailer would be checked and would be working, propane tanks would be checked and full, grey water would be empty and black tank would be cleaned Propane tanks not filled and switch valve not working properly it leaks when one tank is removed and the other is turned on. Grey water tank not empty. Black tank not flushed. Both tanks read 1/3 full on sensors. Refrigerator working great on electric but not working in gas mode. I had to replace the control board. Water heater had a couple dead bugs in the tube and wouldn't light on propane. Didn't get the owners manual for the $800.00 hitch we purchased. The real kicker was the very polite, and thorough person who showed us how everything in the trailer works and helped us get needed items, offered to take our 500.00 in purchases out to the RV while we waited to sign paperwork. He helped himself to some toilet chemicals that we purchased. If you say your going to do something, do it. It is pretty obvious that none of the systems were checked. If your stealing from customers, your shooting yourself in the foot. Pretty ambivalent about the whole experience. If you are purchasing new or used, make sure you check everything carefully and take out your own purchases. read more

Terrible after sales support and service. During tie orientation session, the rep tripped our generator. When we called for instructions to reset, we were given misinformation. Eventually solved ourselves from YouTube. Can't get tv reception for our rv because there is no antenna. The style required is apparently "no longer available" and the dealer has offered nothing to compensate or solve this issue. Took our RV in for a service appointment we were told would take an hour. My husband arrived at the scheduled time and waited 3 hours before anyone even looked at it. He ended up being there for 6 hours. We will never buy from this dealership again. read more

We just bought a new RV and I have to say the experience wasn't painful at all. No pressure, friendly staff. Made the entire experience very easy and pleasant. We had already bought a travel trailer previously so we knew going in that the process was time consuming (once you decide on a unit, you will schedule a day to pick it up, and that day they will go over everything about your unit with you). Overall my wife and I were very happy with General RV. Now I will tell you that our unit had a problem a couple of days later, but I brought it in in the morning (their first come first serve system I wasn't familiar with) and they got it right in. Unfortunately it was an electrical problem with awning that took most of the day. So I was stuck there. My tech advisor did make sure I was kept abreast of the status throughout the day and they provide the waiting customers with a nice clean lounge with two large screen televisions and refreshments (they even brought pizza). All in all the salesman, prep team, finance, parts staff, tech advisors, and technicians were complete professionals and provided us with an experience I would recommend to my family and friends. I would have given them five stars if they would perhaps alter their first come, first serve service. I would like to see 2-3 days a week where you could schedule an appointment (for the things that aren't a complete emergency to fix). Would seem to be a simple fix, but then again what does the customer know anyway. :-) read more

Took in our 5th wheel toy hauler last Friday after picking it up from the axle shop, & I had little to no brakes. Called about a half hour away and was told to come right over. Honest Service staff, and parts department went out of their way to make sure that I had what I needed. I was back on the road within the hour. PS: this was my 2nd time in for service at this shop. This review is strictly regarding the service side of the dealership. The sales process three years ago was a breeze, easy to deal with, easy financing, and enjoyable. Today I came in for a recall on a unit. I specifically called over a month ago to make sure it could be done while I waited as fuel isn't cheap any more. I made an appointment and showed up a half hour early to make sure there weren't any issues. After checking in at the reception desk, I was directed to the waiting area until a service advisor was available. Once I sat down, I was told to plan and hour and half or so, making an appointment doesn't actually do much more than put your name on a list and when it's your turn they will get to it. A seemingly 15-20 minute install now is a portion of my day I don't have time for with other appointments. Because it's a "federal recall" they can't allow the part to be installed at home. Thankfully, the coach is out of warranty and I won't have to come back again. read more

Reilly showed me what I came there to look at then he listened to my whole story and led me to the pop up camper which I never would have considered but I think will be a good fit for me. All the staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. Matt showed me and my family how everything works and suggested supplies that i need to get started. The four rating is for two things. I didn't appreciate General RV sharing my contact information with Outdoor Adventures. I cancelled my appointment with them and they keep calling me. And second, they installed a bike rack on my camper that I found out later didn't allow me to open my pop up. Had the hassle of returning to their location and having it removed. However, they did take care of it right away. I would definitely work with them again. read more

In October of 2020, my class B motorhome, a Coachman Galleria built on a Sprinter chassis, was taken to this service facility for evaluation of a repair. The job was assigned to Service Advisor Mr. T. He reported that the Macerator pump housing needed to be replaced. An order was put in to Thetford for the part. It was noted that additional parts would also be needed, but these were not ordered. Months passed, and I called to ask Mr. T to please check again to see if the part was available. In an unbelievably astounding coincidence, he responded that the part had just come in that very day. He gave me a date of January 19, 2021, to install the part. I arrived at 9:30, having driven 100 miles in snow, to finally get this work done. About noon, Mr. T informed me that work had not started yet, so it would be longer than anticipated. He said there was water in the housing, which had frozen, and they had to wait for it to thaw. I asked if he could speed this process by applying heat to the damaged unit. He said the parts were plastic, and they would be damaged by heat. I suggested a small space heater could speed the process, and he said they didn't have one. With each question he became more aggressive and louder, until he was shouting at me. The truly astonishing thing is not that he could offer only such a paltry lie, but that I was gullible enough to believe it. I soon realized that the 4-hour job would not be done that day, because it would take too long for the water to thaw. So I went back, and was assured repeatedly that the work could be done that day. At 3pm I went back, and saw that nothing had been done. Now the problem was that parts were needed that they had not ordered. I was very concerned that it might not be possible to have the work done at that facility, because there will always be water in the housing (the exit hose comes out the side, not the floor, of the housing), and because of the long drive, it will always be frozen. I expressed this concern to Mr. T, and he became even more abusive, telling me quite loudly that if the parts had been there it would have been done that day. We were standing at the edge of the waiting area nearest the store, yet his voice was loud enough to turn at least one head in the service area. He then lowered his shouting a few decibels. Clearly, the group was not prepared properly for the job, as well as having other problems. I can see now, on reflection, that some other job, perhaps unexpected, must have been given precedence over mine. This unwelcome truth would have served Mr. T much better than the loud abusive voice, aggressive manner, and insulting lies. I am not complaining about the long wait, because I realize that this is the price I must pay for having purchased this unit elsewhere. I think it is an excessively high price (I have now driven 600 miles to get this done), but that is not my complaint. It is a stain on the business that they retain such an abusive individual in their employ. If Mr. T is to remain, they would do well to provide him with training in non-abusive interpersonal skills. They have a wide variety of very nice units there, but the personnel do not match the quality of the merchandise. Our experience with General RV Center was excellent from our initial contact with the Service Department to picking up our 2006 Country Coach. Our Service Representative was in contact with us every three-four days with the progress of our repairs. Our longest delay was due to waiting on responses from the extended warranty insurance company. We spoke to the Service Manager expressing our appreciation for the professionalism and outstanding customer service received from his staff. Our last experience speaking with another RV Center's Service Manager was to express our displeasure in the service, or lack of service, his company provided. My husband and I drove 2 hours to get there, the salesperson (I believe his name was Aaron) was the worst. The motor home we went to see was already sold. He asked what we where looking at in a motor home so we told him. Thinking he would take us out on the lot to show us some other options he just kept sitting their. I then asked him if we could go look at some, he acted like we where putting him out! He did finally take us out to go look at one but he could not find the one he wanted to show us so he headed back to the office, while driving by numerous motor homes that maybe we would of been interested in, he never stopped at one! Horrible experience will NEVER go back!!!! read more

I am very disappointed in the customer service and sales department of this dealership .I was in the process of buying a 2021 nova li3 . I was working with a salesman by the name of Scott (he did a good job for the most part ) .My issue was with the finance department .The finance person i was "trying" to work with was Christopher(he was a total failure in customer service) . After putting down a $2000 deposit to even start a purchase of a rv ,I was told Christopher would be contacting me .After several calls to Christopher over a weeks time I finally received a call back after I showed frustration with my salesperson ,who had me escalated to to Brandon (a manager whom I liked dealing with )The sale was saved and I was going to finalize paper work another financial person NOT CHRISTOPHER. The next thing I know I received a call from Christopher who proceeded to explain to me that I was an ONLINE BUYER and "HE DID NOT FEEL THE NEED TO CALL ME AND WAS GIVING ME SPACE" .I explained my frustration and explained I did not want to deal with him .He said to me "MY FRUSTRATION DIDN'T MATTER AND THE PURCHASE OF MY RV WAS WHAT MATTERED ." I was amazed , he was acting like the butt of every joke about "car salesperson ".Nothing mattered but the sale .I ended up requesting my deposit to be returned from Brandon and then it was relayed to me that if I bought an rv from somewhere else I would have issues getting it serviced at any of their dealerships. MY OPINION IS NOT TO DEAL WITH THIS DEALERSHIP FIND ONE THAT NOT ONLY WANTS TO SELL RVS BUT WANTS TO MAKE PROCESS AS EASY AND TRANSPARENT AS POSSIBLE.This is a horrible mark on GENERAL RV and COACHMAN as well for their retail. read more

Recently discovered a ceiling leak in my 2019 Winnebago Travato K. As I am visiting from Southern California was concerned that I would have trouble getting in for an appointment. Haven't had the greatest experience with RV service departments but Richard got me in the same day and repair was made under warranty. The entire staff was very friendly and also kind to my elderly dogs. If I upgrade to the KL model (lithium) will definitely consider buying here! Good RV service is hard to find. read more

Sept. 15, 2016 General RV facility is set up very nice. Large selection of many brands to choose from this West Michigan (Wayland) facility. Salesmen are very polite and friendly. The accessary department was 90 % and the sales staff are very good, polite and a pleasure to do business with them. Now the service department is all together a dis-pleasure. First we told the girl that we had an appointment. She said go check out the accessories and we call you when the repair rep. gets done with his customer. Fine. An hour and a half later still no call as we spent a lot of money on misc.. So we went back to the first desk and asked the same girl if the assigned repair representative was ready for us. I figured She thought we were not important enough to give help to us as my wife is from the Philippines and she was pushing me in a wheel chair. So finally she got Mr. No smiles to help us. First I was insulted by him as he asked if we had a service representative and I did not know I was supposed to be assigned a rep. nor did I realize you need a reference from God to get one. Then I told him I had filled out their internet form in detail for the service department and no one contacted me. Then I told them that I called their service department and they put me on a waiting list for 10 days to order parts as I have a bubble in the siding of my trailer, the radio was defective, and needed replacing, I wanted the wheel bearings packed. Well the service rep. said: next time you come park your trailer in the bay. WHAT nobody told me to do that and their was no signs displaying this information outside in the parking area explaining that step. Now I am thoroughly upset and preceded to tell this non smiling no personality individual exactly how I felt (in a way I won't mention here) Later he came back and said they have to order a radio, At the beginning of all this -Why the service person told me we had to wait 10 days so he could order new parts . NO PARTS ORDERED. ; 10 days of my time lost. My wife feels she was discriminated against because she is foreign and her feelings have been damaged by the girl who was suppose to do her job and tell the service rep. that he had a customer waiting (no compliance from the female employee who told us to wait). Later I was suspicious and checked the hubs from the wheel packing job. The caps were all dented up from the sloppy work. I paid them $149.00 for a job I could of done for $40 tops. To say I am upset is an understatement. If I owned General RV I would be firing more than one person in that department. read more
