This will be my first online review ever. I am doing it to share the worst experience of my life as a client and to tell others not to go there or to even call them. Those people are extremely rude, the quality of their products is bad and they are expensive. I should have gone somewhere else. I remodeled my house and my contractor recommended them because they kept calling him asking for customers. They claimed to be the best and doing kitchens for 40 years. Well, when you see their showroom, their computer and their way of doing business you will understand they are in business for a very long time. They do not use email, their computer is a 1990's Dell desktop, they make you sign papers you can barely read and stamp everything with a stamp that does not even have enough ink. They use carbon copy to give your copy and keep the original. But there is more. We wanted to cancel the countertop because we realized delivery was late. When we called them they yield at me and my contractor they insulted us and even hang up on us. The manager Jess was extemely rude when I went there to give them a paperwork they required to proceed because they do not have email. He refused to talk to me. I tried politely to start a conversation but he didn't even listen and asked me to leave. I am a customer spending thousands of dollars and the boss does not even want to talk and take care of his client. Do not go there ever! They asked for full payment upfront. When they deliver the kitchen cabinets and one was damaged. They advised me to ask the contractor to repair it instead of replacing it. They finally replaced it but it was not easy to communicate with them. The lady in charge has no patience and she becomes ballistic when you ask to communicate by email. To conclude, avoid this kind of people. They do not deserve to be in business. I read other reviews and understood I am not the only to have experienced the same story. In all reality,no one person will have the same experience. But I personally had a great experience, we were on a tight budget and needed something tthat could withstand 3 rambunctious boys, and we found it. The staff there were very clear and concise. I love that I was involved in the process. The cabinets are beautiful,chic and fit right into our budget. I would definitely recommend going to General kitchen; they have great varieties. read more

They are by far the RUDEST people I've ever dealt with in my life!!! Jess thought there was a misunderstanding as to why I had come into the their showroom with my contractor today and, for the record, I had EVERY INTENTION of placing an order TODAY but Jess, who was a f-Ing a-hole, wouldn't hear me out, threw a hissy fit and said "I'm done here" and walked away from me... he couldn't pay me to walk back into his show room, not that he'd want me to?!! read more

I have an older home and thought it was time to remodel my kitchen. I walked in General Kitchens and was greeted by Lorelei who was very friendly and courteous. I thought the showroom had a lot of sample kitchens to get ideas from. The selection was fabulous. I looked around and within minutes I saw the cabinets I was looking for. I placed the order, which came in 2 weeks earlier then expected!! The service and experience with General Kitchens was fabulous. I would highly recommend them for kitchen needs... read more

We bought new cabinets from a discount cabinet place Had all kinds of issues and returned cabinets We went here and the people here were great. BUYER BEWARE. The selection at general kitchens looks impressive but the deception is in the perceived quality. I purchase 3 pieces of bathroom cabinetry including a quartz countertop to the tune of about $2200. I feel I could've gotten better quality at Home Depot or Lowes. The cabinets are veneered in laminate, not the hardwood we were assured they were constructed of. All in all a poor experience. The product was inferior, the designer not very knowledgeable. I did my first kitchen using Home Depot in Seekonk and had a wonderful experience. When it came time to do Kitchen #2, my contractor suggested i go to General Kitchens in East Providence. He had met them, said that they offered a large discount for using them instead of Home Depot. i figured, what the heck, lets give them a shot. It never hurts to look at another option. my initial reaction is that they were "great". Jess knew his stuff and was very eager to help and make suggestions. since i had done this before, the meetings were quick and after two visits, we finalized the purchase. I had to pay in full , same as home depot, prior to their ordering. so i wrote a check. now here is the good part, as soon as they had my money, they were AWFUL !!!! i would call to speak with Jess, only to be told he wasn't available. i would leave my name and number, never to receive a call back. When i finally did get a hold of Jess, he said he never received the message. which means that Loralee, the receptionist is AWFUL... i needed to get the measurement of my sink base... her response "it is in the book we gave you"... which i didn't have because they NEVER gave it to me... finally, delivery day!! i am given a 2 hour window. 10-12- i got stuck in traffic and arrived at 10:10- i waited until 12:30 and then called to see where they were .. i was advised by Lauralee that the truck showed up at 9:45 and waited until 10:10... ( i don't think so)... so when i asked why didn't they just call me, i could have advised that i was almost there, her response was " we don't want them using personal cell phones" one of the cabinets was damaged so we didn't accept it and they advised that it was "only the back of the cabinet" ... seriously???? i don't care how great my kitchen is after it is installed... they SUCK ... I agree that technology can absolutely get in the way... but to not use a call ahead or have the ability to answer simple questions via email or the phone ... not a business i would recommend. . read more

Having never remodeled a kitchen, I am forever great full for the professionalism, communication and level of care that I received. I was about to purchase "ready to assemble" cabinets from China based on a price point due to the model cost overruns and I am so happy that general kitchens reached out to before making that HUGE mistake. My designs were off, my measurements were off and general kitchens we designed my kitchen, gave me an outstanding price on a made in the USA product and helped to put some semi custom touches on our project. The communication is outstanding. Every cabinet, every knob, every countertop and every single aspect of the kitchen is communicated with the buyer several times to ensure that the both the customer and general kitchens is on the same page. It's an enormously important part of the process and I really wouldn't even consider going anywhere else for my cabinet or countertop needs and if you're remodeling your kitchen , do yourself a favor and set an appointment with these guys and let them assist you in your project. read more

My wife and I purchased a home in Seekonk MA a few years ago and wanted to update/replace the original installed kitchen cabinets. We visited 2 big box stores and a few independent cabinet showrooms before visiting General Kitchens. It is in my nature, having an accounting background and CPA experience, to get as much information and prices as possible to make a good sound decision. Laureli scheduled a meeting with Jess; the lead designer/manager. Our initial meeting provided a base line for our dream kitchen within our budget. I brought a rough layout of the kitchen and some ideas to incorporate into our design. Jess listened intently with a quite understanding, I felt he knew our desires and needs. He explained General Kitchen's process of design and showed a ring binder of a prior client that would be provided to us with our personal detailed pricing of each cabinet. Throughout this whole process Jess is very understanding and provides professional 20 plus years of cabinet sales/design. However, there is a cost to us before proceeding and we both felt the cost was justifiable and understandable on their part by putting their substantial time and experience on the line. Our next meeting was at home with Jess's recommended independent installation contractor, Jim from K & J Construction. All measurements were taken by Jess and Jim and a full discussion on what was desired by us. My wife and I finally felt this project will be done right and without any of those design/contractor horror stories. Everyone was on the same page. Later we met with Jess (who made suggestions none of the other stores/designers did) to finalize the kitchen design and signed all the necessary paperwork and be presented our own personal binder on EVERYTHING. Finally, the kitchen was delivered, installation was completed (by Jim and his crew) and we are now very satisfied and can highly recommend General Kitchen to you. read more

If your kitchen needs to remodeling General Kitchens is the place to go. A year ago my kitchen got destroyed and General Kitchens made the process of getting a new kitchen easy. Laureli asked me such detailed questions about how I want my kitchen. Questions such as do you cook with right or left hand,and what side do I grab my utensils from, to make sure my utensil drawer was at a place convient and functional for me. They also were good with pricing. Laureli found cabinets I love and under my budget. They made my kitchen fit me perfectly. They were honest and even told me about certain upgrades I was thinking about getting , not to get because it really did not binifit me or would make the kitchen small or detour from the look I was going for. They were in a time crunch also with my contracters and were able to meet the time frame and answered all my questions. They even came and measured everything out themselves. Laureli made a digital blue print for me to see before I purchased to make sure the kitchen looked like I wanted it to. I highly recommend General Kitchens. read more

We paid GK 100% on counter tops and cabinets at the time of ordering. We found General Kitchens difficult to deal with (demanding in office appointments for ever change, refusing to give us a sample cabinet color, or even one of our own doors, in order to pick out paint colors). We called the counter top supplier to view our slab. They told us they didn't have any order from General Kitchens for our counter (2 months after we paid in full). We took the opportunity to cancel our counter top order with General Kitchens. It DID say on the order we signed "100% non -refundable", but since they had not ordered it yet, we (foolishly) thought they would refund our money. GK cancelled our already scheduled cabinet delivery - and let us know they would be charging us an $840 "storage fee" because of the cancellation. We eventually relented and bought our counter tops from them, just because they were holding out 100% paid for cabinets hostage. They do all there design work on a 1980's beige computer - with a stick figure type autocad system. You have to fax them everything because they don't have E-mail The owner of the company pretends to just be an employee. He SCREAMED at out our contractor who is THE nicest guy in the world You can call the store and it rings and rings because there is only the owner and one other employee. We were getting a refund because of a change order - it was six months after our initial order before they paid us. The single worst purchasing experience I have ever had. read more

BUYERS BEWARE!!! The biggest issue I have is when we bought our cabinet for double ovens we were told we needed to purchase an additional frame to support the ovens. Once the ovens were installed this piece was not needed nor would it even fit in the area available. Being the cabinet industry, and everything "custom", all sales are final and we could not return it. If you are someone who enjoys being lied to, this is the place for you; otherwise I would recommend going anywhere else. You will find just as good a deal. Additionally, once we had made our purchase and were waiting for the cabinet, we found the receptionist to be pushy and rude. Their weekday hours are not great. There is no need to repeatedly call, be rude and condescending, just to pick up paperwork that could easily wait until the weekend to get. read more
