Terrible. I NEVER leave bad reviews but do NOT go here. They do not try to help you they'll just prescribe medications you don't need (with side affects that's are completely avoidable). I came in asking about sun spots and white dots I had on parts of my skin. I have since HEALED them both COMPLETELY without a single medication. They are in this for the money not actually to help heal or cure you. If you have sun spots grass fed liver will get rid of them instantly along with a good vitamin c serum. Do NOT waste your time time or money here, your skin will look so much better without them. My dr was friendly but had zero interest in helping me, she spent 3 minutes with me and prescribed completely UNNECESSARY medications to someone who does not need them and who is much better off without ALL those chemicals in my body. read more

I came to this dermatology center upon a recommendation from a friend and I couldn't be happier. I met with Dr. Jessica Kramer and she is the best in the game. Came here for a few hair issues that I was having and she seamlessly guided me in the best possible direction. She really takes the time to get to know her patients and whenever I meet with her, it feels like hanging out with a friend, and when you're going into medical facilities, that's really the greatest thing anyone can ask for. I called for a serious medical procedure that needs to be done right away and they harassed me with a fake payment for a consultation To "lock" me in as if I was calling for a beauty treatment!!! I hate this dermatology practice so much. They COMPLETELY ruined my skin, they gave me CYSTIC ACNE. I am writing this three years after going to this practice only 3-5 times in 2019 because my skin is finally clear but I am left with acne scars, that I'm now having to do treatments for, that I would never have even had to do if I hadn't gone to this place & I am extra pissed off this AM & am finally writing a review. Looking back at old photos from before I went here & after makes me want to cry. I am finally at a place where I have found peace in my skin & feel like my skin is healthy, but I don't know if my skin will truly ever be the same again. Do not see Dr. Emily (I believe that was her name). She's terrible & has no clue how to treat acne. I went in for very minor hormonal acne, my skin was nearly perfect before I went to this place, I regret coming here so much. I was prescribed so many things, was sold products that didn't help my skin at all & made me break out more & spent SO MUCH MONEY. After the extremely harsh retinal I was told to use every day, even after calling saying I was breaking out , I was told my skin was just "purging". I went back in tears because my smooth skin with maybe 4 pimples max on my period had turned bright red with bumps & cystic pimples all over it in the span of a month. Her response was "oops I misdiagnosed you, do you have rosacea from doing hot yoga or drinking wine?" #1. I have never had rosacea in my life #2. I don't do hot yoga #3. I drink wine maybe 4 times a month max? She very clearly messed up & ended up putting me on a rosacea topical that made my skin even worse because I DON'T HAVE ROSACEA. She told me facials from their practice would help. I ended up paying $500 for I believe two or three facials that were "spa" type facials. Literally just putting oil & lotion on my cystic acne covered skin, no treatment, no extractions, just pointless. I honestly wish I could sue their practice. I wish I wouldn't have been so trusting. After seeing my skin get progressively worse after each visit, l decided to stop using everything I was getting prescribed & I noticed the difference in my skin immediately. Going to a new practice (Laser Dermatology Center in Burbank on Olive they are the best go there!) I was told that whatever this dermatologist did completely ruined my skin barrier. Luckily with their help, my skin is heathy again. But it took two years to recover. I also am an actress & a model so my skin is important for work. I lost jobs because of this practice. I got so depressed & couldn't recognize myself in the mirror because of this practice. I cried so many times because of this practice. So PLEASE, if you have cystic acne, minor acne, hormonal breakouts don't go here! Skin is important & should not be handled with so much lack of care. I placed an online order early February and never received my product. Upon calling the office to find resolution I was given a brush off and told they did their part gave me a tracking number and basically said good luck. I feel that is they are selling product the least they can do is use a reliable method of delivery. My problem is not with the product it has helped me tremendously - my problem is with the lack of customer service and follow through. I came in here today and had a procedure done and it was a really fun time. I don't know how often you can say that getting poked with a needle is a fun time, but somehow they managed to achieve it! They also totally helped out with my insurance company and authorizations and kept me updated the whole way through! That is so rare! Normally, you have to chase down your Dr's office to get answers, but not here. No way :) They also answered a question and offered up a solution for something that has bothered me on my face for a good 9 years! And as of next Friday, it will be handled! Yay! I booked my visit through my insurance for skin concerns, some blemishes to clear out.. The treatment helped after a few weeks but didn't clear out completely my face blemishes. This office also performs cosmetic procedure i.e.: juvederm, restylane and since I had it done a year ago at my other Doctor's office with great results by the way I decided to have Dr Rubinstein do the injection as it was convenient for me I was already at a dermatologist office and I wanted to save time from going again to my other Doctor...I saw Dr Rubinstein's good reviews as well so I felt like I was in good hands. Unfortunately I developed under my eye an irregular shape 'a sort of a lump' in addition to the 2 weeks bruising after the injection. Bruising went away but not the 'sort of a lump' on my lower lid. It's been 4 months now since I had the injection and my lower lid looks worse than before the procedure. After this experience which left me looking physically and mentally terrible and feeling very disappointed, very ... not pretty anymore, aged, tired.. i used to be a professional model so I am trying to maintain myself looking healthy regardless of the aging factor which happens to everyone. I wished I would have listened to my friends and never touched my face. Doctor said once the solution will dissolve the 'lump' will go away... Apparently it's a bad reaction to the injection. I also burned my money ... I am not blaming the Doctor and I don't mean to cause the office of Doctor Rubinstein any bad reputation however I want yelp followers to be aware of the risk of doing injections. I have no idea how come I had great results at my previous Doctor / surgeon's office a year ago and this time it didn't work out for me here. Injections come with risk again. I want to let yelp followers know that injections such as restylane, juvederm and other can make you look worse so beware before doing any, read!!!! It breaks my heart to write this review. I've been a patient/client here for over 10years. And it sucks to find out that a place has no integrity. Side note: For medical dermatology Dr Rubinstein & Eric Lovato are the best!! They've helped me through SO many skin issues over the years. 5 Stars. 0 Stars for the "medspa" services. Let me explain: I've been going to Heidi for 10+ years for a variety of cosmetic treatments. On 8.4.17 I came in for Botox and a consult for fillers because as my 30s progress I feel like my facial skin is sagging and needs some tightening. 8.4.17 - Heidi does my usual Botox & some filler under my eyes to help w dark circles. But she tells me that filler won't help w the skin tightening, so I should do Ultherapy. I'd never heard of this before. Heidi says that Ultherapy works from the inside out to tighten everything up. I'd have to be medicated for the treatment and couldn't drive myself home. Oh, and it's $2500! At that price it's like 5 years of botox for me! But hey, it's Heidi... she wouldn't steer me wrong! 10.4.17 - Take the before-photos and do the Ultherapy treatment with Heidi. Results are to be seen in 2-3 months. After pics in 3 months. I didn't get around to the after-photos until almost 4 months later. During this time, I noticed ZERO improvement in my skin. NONE. But I also see my face every day, so I was excited to take the after-photos so that I could see if there was improvement in the photos. 1.26.18 - After photos. The first set of after-pics looked nothing like me! They looked like there were 4 Instagram filters on them. So, I told her that we need to redo the photos with the same lighting for an apples-to-apples comparison. We redo the pics with the same lighting as the before-photos. WELP, there was NO positive difference AT ALL. My worries were now validated. My skin actually looked WORSE in the after-photos. $2500 STRAIGHT INTO THE TRASH CAN. --- Heidi is scrambling for excuses as to why the $2500 Ultherapy she recommended yielded ZERO results. And she starts going all over the place with outrageous excuses. The brief 5 minute convo went like this: ME: I'm glad we re-took the photos! But, just as I thought, there's zero difference. There's been no improvement. HEIDI: Well come back at the 6-month mark and we will take more pictures ME: Why? Results are supposed to be seen in 2-3 months. I have no results at 4 months. The pictures are clear that there's improvement at all. (EXCUSE #1) HEIDI: Maybe it's because of all the stress in your life, that stuff shows on our faces. ME: (internally - WTF! What a wild assumption by a woman I see 2x a year!) Well Heidi, I haven't had any stresses in my life, I've had an awesome past few years! (#2) HEIDI: You're young! Your skin already looks great. ME: I point out that my skin looks better in the before photos. (#3) HEIDI: That's because you still had your Botox in the before photos. The Botox is worn off by now. Maybe you only need Botox, and not Ultherapy. ME: So why did you recommend I get a $2500 fairly invasive procedure if I only needed Botox? ( #4) HEIDI: Who knows, maybe I recommended it to you, maybe it was your idea and you brought the idea to me. ME: Um, Heidi, are you kidding me? You don't remember me coming in for my normal Botox and a filler consult in August? I had never heard of this procedure before you recommended it to me. You said it would tighten my skin the way I wanted. HEIDI: *searches through my file* "Oh that's right!" ME: So what do we do now? (#5) HEIDI: Well, we aren't going to give you your money back. ME: (internally - WTF??) Heidi, I didn't ask for my money back. But you recommended a treatment that did not work and now you are scrambling for excuses as to why it didn't work. Maybe the process just needs to be redone? Maybe it wasn't done properly the first time. I don't know, you're the expert. Help me understand. (#6) HEIDI: It has to work. It never just doesn't work (#7) HEIDI: *pulls up a photo from my chart from YEARS ago* "See, you look better now than you did then, the lines of your face are sharper" ME: Heidi, I was 30 POUNDS heavier in that old photo, of course my lines are sharper now. But thanks for pointing out that I look better skinnier. How is this relevant? *I am now insulted and crying in front of Heidi* HEIDI: I have to get going, but don't worry Lauren, we are going to take care of this. We are going to figure this out. Tomorrow I'm going to bring this up with my manager and we will work this out. (This is A COMPLETE LIE) That was January 26th. Today is March 8th. I have not heard from Heidi, her manager or anyone else at Studio City Laser & Dermatology!!!! I assume she was just trying to get me out of the door. No professional integrity. One of the best dermatologists in Southern California. They are truly very kind & caring when you go there for services. I've been fortunate to get Heidi's help, who has helped me prepare for three procedures to-date. I've been going there for over the past 6 months. Heidi is always very professional and informative on each procedure done and makes sure I feel comfortable, safe, with less pain. During the entire procedure, she made sure I was well aware of the entire process as well as both pre-care & post-care preparation, which allowed me to be at ease during the entire time. For this, I thank you Heidi for your professionalism and kindness. It means a lot, especially going to a dermatologist. On top of this, the front desk staff here is top-notch. Everyone is so kind when you walk in or call them on the phone. Overall, they have a safe and clean procedure when one walks into the front desk to check-in. Good dermatologist and knows his stuff. I've had seasonal allergy related Eczema for many years. Went in here to see if there is anything new available in the market. Dr. Rubinstein gave me a shot and ointment prescription and within 3 weeks, my Eczema spots were in the best condition that they have been in years. My skin is great and just like I never had any issues. He helped me out a lot and I'm very happy I went to him. Also, gave a me cool story on my last name that I didn't even know. Nice and intelligent guy. I know some fellow Yelpers are not happy about the wait here, even with an appointment, but for me it was worth it. Yes the doctor saw me about 45 mins after my scheduled time but this is much better versus going to doctor that takes you quicker but does not fully help you. read more

I've been coming here for 7 years. They provided me with both medical dermatology and deep facial treatments. Eric Lavato has taken extremely good care of me since day one. However, sadly their receptionists and office policies have lost me today. After progressively getting worse in their customer service, and misquoting prices, today I went in for a simple treatment and wanted to use a gift card they gave me for a past treatment. The receptionist dismissively denied that I could use it because I didn't have the card in person (my home was recently broken into and some valuables were taken) even though they could look it up and see that I had a gift card from them, for them. Then a manager "found" the value of the gift card on their computers but denied that I could use it for a new reason, they decided I hadn't spent enough to use their card. The whole transaction was poorly handled and soured what's been a good relationship. read more

I called to take an appointment with Dr. Rubinstein and the lady who answered the phone said that he was booked until April and asked if I was interested in another practitioner. I said no, she put me on hold and came back and said that she would book me for earlier than April. So then she said it would be another doctor and not Rubinstein. I said that the reason I request Dr. Rubins is because of his reviews and I didn't know the other people she was offering me to book an appointment with. In a very rude voice she said, "we are not a restaurant." I said that yelp is not for restaurants only. I would advise the people answering the phone understand that people really do care and look at reviews. The reason I am rating this place as a 2 and not 1 is because the doctor himself (Eric) was very nice and friendly. My problem is with their shady billing practices. I was told that my insurance will not cover this visit and I needed to pay cash price at the time of the visit. I was really surprised to hear that, since it already covered all my visits with dermatologist in the past. Nevertheless, I paid the cash price of over $240. A few months later I was checking statements from my insurance company and noticed that this office put a claim through and my insurance covered most part of the amount a while back. In other words, the office got their money twice. No one from the office has proactively called me and let me know about it. I went to the office to inquire about the charges. They ended up refunding my card. However, the girl at the front desk was completely ignorant and unprofessional. She ignored most of my questions. I didn't hear an apologize or even "sorry", which I think would have been appropriate. She didn't even say "bye". I would NOT come back to this office again. read more

I've given this place 4 chances and now I give up. My appointment with Dr Rubenstein went well and I like him. Which is why he I will give two stars. The physicians assistants not so great. I went in to show a spot on my forehead and decided to do a little Botox in the forehead. They charged me $500 which is a crazy amount for the forehead. Needless to say what $500 of Botox in one area looks like. I couldn't move my forehead at all and for the next 4 months I had a doppy eyelid, due to the heavy slab of flesh that hung over my eyes. I called the office and said my eyelid is droopy and I can't move anything, the response was "oh, you probably haven't had Botox before". You can't reverse Botox so I had to just deal. Other times I've had ipl or vbeam with the physicians assistant, this time the PA disagnosed me with melasma, which I don't have and Dr Rubenstein also said I don't have. The ipl and vbeam were so weak that I walked out looking totally normal and not even one dark spot of the face from the ipl (I have plenty of spots from the sun). I've had ipl treatments done with my regular nurse and I always had amazing results. Again the excuse was they had to see how my skin reacts. Well I'm very white so it's safe to turn that ipl up. Total waste of money. I would have to do 6 treatments to get the effect of 2 at my other laser place/nurse. Total waste of money. If your going for Dr Rubenstein, then go for it. Stay away from the PA's. Weak or overdone treatments to get the most out of your wallet. read more

This review is long over due. I've been a patient at this office for over 12 years. I've exclusively seen Jessica for at least the past 6 years. I see Jessica for both medical and cosmetic procedures. It's difficult to describe how wonderful Jessica is, because I know I won't do her justice with this review. She has always had my best interest at heart, she's smart and talented and empathetic and knowledgeable. I suffer from a condition called to as HS. It's an auto immune disorder that Ive had for 30+ years, dating back to when there wasn't a name for it and no one knew how to treat it. It's an extremely painful disorder when it flairs, and it's in private areas of one's body. Jessica has always made me feel comfortable/safe and was also the first medical provider to ever treat me correctly for the condition. I have to also applaud the entire office as they have a thriving clientele, book weeks in advance, however when I'm in need of an immediate appointment to treat my condition, they always fit me in. Jessica loves her job, which always makes it even more pleasant and we are never rushed. I'm truly grateful for her and have hopes that I'll always be able to seek her medical expertise and care. Went to see Dr. Rubinstein for a full body scan as I had many questionable brown areas I was getting concerned about. I was rushed only addressing a few areas most concerning. He made me feel he was in a hurry to go home so needless to say only a few things taken care of. Did not get what I came in for. I will say I usually see Eric and I love him, he is very good and feel I made a mistake not asking for him. I learned my lesson. Good doctor but sadly his staff, especially his Physician assistant are a poor reflection. They only care about money. After initially agreeing to charge me $500 per visit for two procedures, she changed to $500 per lipoma removal and tried to charge me $1000 for two little lipomas close together for a 30-40 mins visit. I was seen by Dr. Eric Lovato and had such a great experience. I was referred to Dr. Lovato by my friend for under eye correction injections. I am so unbelievable pleased with my results! He has such a soft hand with needles (I have zero pain tolerance) and I didn't feel a thing. Dr. Lovato was also very knowledgable and made me feel comfortable with the injections. Good dermatologist! I've been coming here for years they are very thorough and have always been great with my mole checks and clearing up my skin when needed. My only gripe is waiting time...They tend to double and triple book so it's rare that you are in and out....expect to be there from 30-45 min. Dr. Rubenstein is very nice and makes you feel comfortable if you are nervous. His staff is amazing and you know you are in good hands if even the staff are "patients." I had laser hair removal and the woman who did the procedure was very sweet and went through every step with me, because it was may first treatment. She was doing my bikini area which can be a little embarrassing, I felt very at ease. I then on a whim decided to go downstairs for botox...they are reasonably priced and Dr. Rubenstein has been working with Botox for years. We began talking about it because I grilled him before I had the procedure (I am a pre-nursing student) and he took my questions in stride. The have monthly newsletters that give discounts on procedures as well. Parking is super easy. Well worth the drive to the Valley! read more

Dr. Rubenstein and his staff is very friendly, and not only did he help me with this weird rash i got, but also gave me cremes for blemishes and acne breakouts i would get. Alot of doctors only want to see you for the ONE problem you have, and if you have other questions, make you come back for another appointment. This is not a fact...It's an opinion... Most of us in our 20's and early 30's sometimes take our skin for granted. It's only about maybe in our late 30's and 40's that we start panicking and sprinting towards the next beauty counter purchasing anti aging products. (but of course! the fountain of youth can be found in the 1st floor of Macys or at your local Sephora store) I guess it's also so easy to hate our skin at this point since adult acne and clogged pores are common pestilent residents. Breath.. and be thankful you've navigated yourself to the Yelp review page of Dr Rubinstein...I've been to several facials, med spas around the LA/San Fernando area...and none have been comparable with Doc Rubi's final results . Laser treatments are pretty much done by Dr. Rubinstein, during your check up visits you are seen by Eric (PA)...(super informative and will lay out all your options) and then there's Terri...thank God Terri you exist...because you are super AWESOME (notice how that's all in caps). Terri is their aesthetician...and let me tell you she makes magic happen (she can magically take your acne away =P ). Look, I know most of us shy away from these places...coz well to be honest...it's not cheap. But...and yes there's a but...if you have PPO insurance they can pretty much work with that....like I said...they can really twist the impossible. Unlike the other two folks posting reviews I've never had skin problems or been to a dermatologist before. But getting off the pill for the first time in over 10 years caused my face to blow up like a 15 year old. Yikes! So based solely on the fact that this guy was close to my office and the rave reviews here I took my zitty yucky face to his office. That was a week ago. Now my skin is clear! Yay!
