Fredericksburg jeweler popped up. So I made a call and asked if they did battery replacement on G SHOCK watches. He said yes! So, I went downtown and went to look for parking. So I went into the shop, it small but the owner seem nice and accommodating. He gave me 50 percent off on the battery replacement so I got a great deal! I highly suggest coming here!!!

They were kind, professional and most importantly they listened to me and understood my taste and vision. They never said 'No' to me, but instead worked with me to find a way to yes. The end result? They said they it would have to send it out and it would take a couple of weeks. I told them that it was no problem. Well, 3 months later I got the call my earring was repaired. I went to pick it up. It was $150.00! I was never given a estimate. Silly me just assumed that since they fixed the other earring for $25. This one would be similar priced. I was never told that it would be 6 times more to fix! I feel that I have been taken advantage of. I will not ever go there again. The ladies at the front counter were very nice, but not $150.00 nice. Buyer beware!

I was encouraged to browse, told about the pieces in shop, and had an interesting conversation with one of the owners about his passion for his craft. Ponshop is owned by husband-and-wife artist duo Gabriel and Scarlett Pons (making the gallery's name that much cuter). Scarlett creates the unique ceramics on display: spouted bowls, blossom-shaped dishes, watering pitchers with what looks like Bob Marley's likeness stamped on the sides, decorative vases, and even hand puppets made from clay and fabric. Gabriel works in mixed-media, putting prints, photographs, and paint on wood, or designing one-of-a-kind skateboards. Along with showcasing their own art, the two feature the works of many other local artists from tee-shirts and jewelry, to plush toys, reusable gift "paper", sculpture, and even soaps. The art in Ponshop is provocative and avant-garde, but the whole place feels down-to-earth and welcoming. I really enjoyed poking around and purchased what I've since dubbed a "scarf-lace" since I'm not really sure *what* it is: a many-looped-and-knotted scarf/necklace made from soft jersey material in heather gray and carnation pink stripes. I've never seen anything like it, but out-of-the-ordinary and pleasantly perplexing seems to be the name of the game at Ponshop.

If you have any item, whether it is a piece of jewelry or timepiece that you care for, DO NOT take it to this establishment. I would not even take costume jewelry to this guy. HE SIMPLY DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING. I purchased an expensive watch that only needed to be sized. After taking the band of my watch apart and after working on it for 20 minutes, he became flustered, handed it back to me in pieces and asked me to work on it myself. After, I insisted that he return the watch to me in the condition he received it, his response was "I will have to charge you for that?". WHAT!!! Are you serious?, I asked. I'm gonna make a long story short. The police department was called by me and when the officer showed up the officer quickly determined that this jewelry repair man was under the influence of alcohol. The repairman admitted to the officer that he had a couple of glasses of wine. The officer stated, "you had more than a couple of glasses of wine, I've been doing this for over 30 years". My expensive luxury watch is now in pieces and will be taken to a reputable jeweler. Do not patronize this hack shop. This guy is a jewelry repair quack.
