Halibut Special, so good!
Roman B.

Had dinner here on 7/31/24 for the first time. We have been coming to Dana Point for years and never made it to this fabulous restaurant. Julian was our server and he is awesome. Very attentive and took care of us all night. Chef Byron came out to the table and greeted us, which was very nice of him. Dinner - Shrimp Scampi appetizer- cooked to perfection. So delish. I asked for more bread, just so I could dip in the sauce :-) Special of the night was Sauteed Halibut. Cooked to perfection. Served with rice and veggies. I believe the delicious sauce was Espagnole sauce. Chicken Piccata - on point, so good! Caesar Salad Thanks again to Julian and to Chef Byron Gemmell, we will be returning each and every time we are in Dana Point!

Filet mignon

Still the best food in Orange County and the martini pours are to the rim! Every meal is deliciously prepared with incredible sauces and care. Chef Byron never disappoints. This last week I dined there three times having the filet mignon, Chilean sea bass and angel hair pasta with shrimp. Exceptional service too.

A super solid French restaurant. We keep coming back which is a solid endorsement. As a family our favorites are the holiday brunches with free flowing champagne! Servers are always friendly, the cooks are solid and consistent. Crepes yummy yummy, they are my default. I tried the Mo's crepe dessert, fantastic. We're planning on happy hour next visit. Oh yeah, they have a full bar and an incredible wine list. be ready for very cute French style restaurant at the harbor (but not on the water side).

Wifey about to get her Chicken Elizabeth

Not our usual neighborhood- but when a trip to the outlets turns out to be a bust, we make up for it with an early-in-the-week date night. We got to see Dana Harbor with the Christmas decorations and lights and boy what a treat. We chose Gemmell's because of the decor and French-based menu. The restaurant was rather empty for being prime dinner time. It took a couple of minutes to get seated and overall I would say service was leisurely. We didn't care we were enjoying the evening. The steak was good, but meaculpa ordered medium. I believe in no steak beyond medium rare, but for some reason, I messed up today. The sauce was really tasty and the softened peppercorns gave a good bite. Wine, creme brule, smoked salmon, and espresso are all good, but the runaway star was the Chicken Elizabeth that Wifey ordered. The chicken was super tender and what made French cuisine was the sauces. Enjoyed ourselves and gave into the moment.

The vibe was amazing

We came in after watching the boat parade. A HIDDEN GEM! I think people walked by thinking it was closed, but it was warm, quiet and festive. My husband and I ordered a bottle of wine and soup, and let me tell you, the soup hit the spot. I ordered a potato leek soup that was on the specials and it was SO delicious. It's my first time here and our server Kevin was great. Brought us extra warm sourdough bread. Highly recommend! Okay so we also got the chocolate soufflé and it was sooo yummy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Very nice and cozy atmosphere with excellent food. Service was great too!!! We ordered scampi as appetizers, surf and turf, John Dory, jumbo shrimp as entrees. The mixed green salad is great too!

Amazing food! Chicken piccata is fantastic. Mushrooms for an appetizer are a must. We came here with a groupon and will definitely be back.

There is a reason , The ambience The service The food The decorations- dishes , tea cups , orange juice glasses all match their decor makes you feel like you took a trip to France ( down to their tooth picks in the sandwiches ) We ordered the little basket of mini warm baked goods -they were tiny and delicious $4.99 for four . You could buy a dozen . We split the Chicken Breast Les Champs sandwich on their baguettes which was absolutely DELICIOUS!! We both had a plate each with out one dill pickle spear I tell you it was the best flavored not too thick and not too thin chicken breast - it must have had 3 pieces total with tomato and we had mini chopped red onion on the side but on the sandwich would have been amazing . I would have taken my other half home if I ordered a whole to myself . I can still taste that sweet flavor and we both cannot wait to go back . Service was excellent so thank you to everyone as we were very happy and we told them that and wrote it on our receipt . If you haven't tried this adorable little place yet , btw they do allow dogs on the patio as they have dog water bowls there as well if dogs are behaved and kept on the ground as they should be and not on the chairs or tables ( I have seen this before ). There are lots of tables inside , but to eat outside even during the hot temps they keep it cool was awesome!!

The staff are nice and carry a beautiful French accent. The pastries are unbeatable. The Almond Croissant is everything you want in a croissant. 2 out of 5 stars I…read morestopped by Moulin in Dana Point for a cappuccino and saw the croissant egg sandwich, so I decided to give it a try. Between the cappuccino and sandwich, I spent a little over $20, so I was expecting a pretty good breakfast. The cappuccino looked great and actually wasn't bad. It also came with a little piece of chocolate on the side, which was a nice touch. What I thought was strange was that when I asked for it sweet, I was told I needed to walk over to the coffee bar, grab sugar packets myself, and bring them back to the counter. For an approximately $8 cappuccino, that seemed a little odd. Unfortunately, the croissant sandwich was the biggest disappointment. It looked great, but it had almost zero flavor. The most noticeable thing in my first bite was actually the crunch of eggshell in the eggs. For a breakfast sandwich around $15, I think it's reasonable to expect the eggs to be seasoned and definitely free of eggshells. The sandwich was basically egg on a croissant with a few very small pieces of bacon. Even a little garlic, seasoning, cheese, sauce, or something added to the eggs would have made a huge difference. It was also served with a side salad, which seemed like an unusual pairing for breakfast. I ended up taking only two bites of the sandwich and finished my cappuccino. I'm giving Moulin 2 stars because the staff were nice, the restaurant and bathroom were clean, and the cappuccino was decent. The place definitely has the upscale presentation, but unfortunately the food I received didn't match the price or appearance.

My friend and I were at Laguna beach and decided to treat ourselves for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I was afraid we wouldn't get seated because we walked in but I think we got there right before rush hour around 4 pm so we only waited 5 min to be seated. The whole restaurant is outside with tables under lemon trees and twinkly lights which was beautiful. Definitely very picturesque. We ordered one of everything. We tried the non alcoholic spritz that was refreshing. We also got a salad that was beyond good! A nice a refreshing appetizer. For pizzas we decided to try both a round pizza and square one. The potato Bianca came with burning rosemary on top that added to the fragrance and taste of the pizza. However, my favorite of the night was the sweet and spicy. I am personally not a big fan of thick crust pizza, but this dough was so good and crunchy! I ordered a side of ranch (extra) to dip my crust in. 11/10

They create amazing combinations not found elsewhere. There are two basic styles (round or square deep dish). Their sauce and toppings are finger-licking good. We also had the Spagnola Salad with Pear slices, Almonds, Manchego cheese and Quince dressing. I loved it so much! I got full after one slice of pizza, I am such a wimp, my eyes wanted another slice!!! But, we had leftovers, which turned our lunch into dinner later that evening.
